How to find your error code:

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
. Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
. Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
. The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
. Release the eject button and press it again.
. The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
. Release the eject button and press it again.
. The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
. Release the eject button and press it again.
. The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
. Release the eject button and press it again.
. The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
. All four lights flashing - 0
. One light flashing - 1
. Two Lights flashing - 2
. Three lights flashing - 3

0011 over heating - If you are recieving this error after dissassembling your console make sure to all 8 of the heatsync screws are tightened securely to the board/heatsink holes.

0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard.

0102 unknown error - literally means the console does not know what is wrong. possibly a short or cold solder joint somewhere. So far there is 1 major theory for what causes most of these errors is that the Ram, CPU, or GPU are not soldered properly to the mother board This can be solved by re-Heating the chips DO NOT attempt this if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced.

nope, there was some sort of 'heat wave' two weeks back, my room was directly facing the sun without any blinds, windows and doors were closed, so the thing just sort of overheated to death. only played it for 15 minutes before I went out, and when I came back, it was already dead. the 'heat wave' wiped out my computer's graphics card as well.

no difference, just that it seems to run hotter than usual. am considering a PSU mod soon.

Fixed my 3ROD box last week, by xclamp replacement method and NOS job . I also added an extra fan on the cpu heatsink to blow the hot air into the shroud.

Doesn't the towel method work for you guys? My manager has had his box for more than 2 years now and he swears by the towel wrapping thing.

woohoo gave up with my 360 already, after the 3rd time 3rod, 1 day apart mind you....then straight go buy ps3 from bernard, and you know what at his shop there are 19 360's and only one ps3 that has been sent for repair. the one ps3 problem is lens reading prob which is easier to fix in my opinion compared to 3rod (from change fan, to x-clamp replacement to NOS MOD-yet still the same). Mine still intermittent 3ROL 0102. When I get the 3ROL, I just leave it on, heat up the unit for like 5-10mins, then reboot.. walla, can play again. So far so good, it work all the time since last week. Playing and watching DiVX for 3-5hrs straight and no issues.

really agree.that is what happened to mine.when first time got 0102, wait for several minutes, restart and play for about 1 month.after that 0102 coming again,and now RIP.the chip already bent.cannot do anything

of coz all i see in his shop was hacked 360 withs their motherboard lying around naked..
and i asked him about newer version of 360..
apparently he said new HDMI version (which i assume would be either falcon/elite) had no 3ROD problem..
i think his word holds some weight la..
as he dont sell any console.. juz a repair shop..

and i was quite shock actually that he told me..
he provide service to reattach back "NEW" warranty sticker..
so your hacked xbox360 will be eligible to be exchanged 1-to-1 in SG..

Whether you use extra fan or not you will in the end you will also get 3rod. Even if you try to mod your fan, you also will get ban by MS

So forget it. There is a risk by buying Xbox 360

Guess what? Got my 360 from Djinn (Thank you!) this afternoon..proceed to play Bioshock and i finally beat the game. Then it happened again, game crashed and that was it..now it hangs everytime i play games. Oh well, i guess i'm done with the 360. Not really interested in getting it repaired again. Its just not worth my time. Screw u MS!, i'm definitely not renewing my LIVE subscription this coming February.

walao A..half way playing gow kena 3rod T_T dam #$%^&...after leavin the unit for few minutes, it goes b to normal...but i scared to play gow again...Anyone know wad will happen if my xbox kena 3rod again? is it have to say sayonara to my xbox or it is still fixable?

No one(expert) can asnwer this or i should open a new thread for it, i think we all want to know more about Falcon, especially for who with money ready but still confuse to buy xbox360.

actually this is my 2nd time kena 3rod...the first time my xbox got hit by 3rod was 2 months ago , i str8 way turn off the console and it returns to normal when i reboot it. ..
this time seems a bit different, i did everything like the first time but the red ring still there , so i try to hit up the console for few mins, n miracle happen ...i know this wont last long..but at least it give me time to save money for another xbox or terus go for ps3

There is none 3ROD yet happen to my shop yet, still waiting if there is any returns.

but the Elites Model ( Falcon) got other problem. The DVd-Rom Drive.

New 3RRORD here... mine was fixed by Virgil on june last year... it 3RROD again today. Tough luck...

Guys, i wanna try out a new mod,
i observed that the cpu heatsink is near cool during gameplay while the gpu heatsink is frying eggs....so i would like to use a heatpipe to link the two heatsinks so that the heat from the gpu heatsink can flow to the cpu heatsink.

problem is where to get a heatpipe?

I'm very sad that zephyr ver 2 had 3rrod.

to much heat will will cause the heatpipe to burst la
the heatpipe isnt a normal steel rods
it contains some chemical inside to transfer heat efficiently into heatsink alu fin types la
i once saw this lyn guy oc his pc until his heatpipe blow up and burn his hands with those liquid that xploded with the pipes

Emmm....Finally after almost a year me also kena 3ROD.The screen hang and after restart got 3Rod.Try cabut and pasang balik everything back to normal.But after play game for 10 minutes it's happen again....

Mine still have warranty...should i send it back to SG or do the x-clamp?.How much it's cost to send tom SG....by the way bought it from GH.....

send back to GH...no point if you still have warranty and not use it...
