call dell, let them settle for you. it's free as long you're still under warranty.

last time my win7 32bit tell me 2.96gb ram is usable, so i langsung du lan and change to 64bit, ,but now my sound quality seem poor (m i paranoid?)becos of don hav driver,tat one from dell website cant use,

i got my key from MSDN already ^^ izzit the product key they giv can be used? and i also download from there and it show in ISO file i think need to burn it out to CD or DVD 1st

I placed my order (with customized display) on 30 Sep 2009 and it's saying "Order Received" on 1 Oct 2009 on the Order Status page. I was told the standard lead time is 2 weeks upon the approval of my payment on 2 Oct. The last update was made on 5 Oct 2009 with the same status "Order Received" and there has not been any update since then. I raised my doubt to my assigned sales person who replied that my order is currently in production but I am not too sure to understand that the order status should have changed from "Order Received" to "Work in Progress" if what he said is true or he meant something else. I understand that the order status is not necessarily reflecting the latest status but I just wonder whether the delay could be due to e.g. China National Day, customized item, paperwork etc. I am just curious to figure this out.

Added on October 8, 2009, 2:06 pmorder status on Dell webpage is never reliable. I got my laptop 7 days earlier than the estimated delivery. I suggest you call up your sale person or dell.

I'm not sure if you are eligible or not, but you can always try to register for the upgrade here.

Then you can't upgrade. Dell has never offered Win 7 upgrades with Home Basic versions of Vista. In fact, there wont even be a Home Basic Win 7.

there is Win7 Home Basic, but only Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate are eligible for the upgrade...

either burn the ISO to a DVD, or setup a thumb drive as boot up device and copy the files to it to install Win7...

Hmmm.. After using it for a day, i find studio 1555 is quite disappointing.. Is it me or this laptop has very slow graphic performance? Having problem using revit and autocad even my little sis complain that when playing restaurant city in facebook isn't smooth enough..

guys...who tested tis baby...with HON b4? y mine abit laggy? line prob? or GPU?

I thought the Home Basic version of 7 was renamed Starter or something and can only be had from OEMs?

have u make sure to do maintenance on your notebook? try download ccleaner and use it. then try defraggler. Clean the cookies and uninstall the unwanted application.
