I thought the Home Basic version of 7 was renamed Starter or something and can only be had from OEMs?

there's also Starter... it's mainly targeted for netbooks...

Which is exactly what I said lol.

@Above;
Dell PCs usually ship with plenty of unnecessary programs that will bog your system down. It's sometimes recommended to either disable them form starting up via msconfig to save you the resources, or remove them altogether via a clean install of your OS.

check the power/battery plan, make sure it's the high performance mode.

found myself using da laptop lagging thru out everything including web surfing, only to realised it was switched to power saver mode. doh.gif

Got. You can lock it through the touchpad setting. If I not mistaken Studio 1555 don't have shortcut to touchpad lock.

i plan to buy this Dell Studio 15, but i need some comment from the users.
my use wil be like web surfing, watch movies, ms excel work and of coz gaming. (mostly like fifa10, football manager, rpg games)

Resolution - 1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900 (only need RM 77 for upgrade)
Will the graphic card performance reduce a lot,
if i play at 1600 x 900?? (like lagging)

of course gaming performance will reduce if resolution goes higher in any laptop or computer in this world.. the concept is higher resolution = higher work need to be done due to the extra pixels needed to generate.

it'll be okay to use studio 1555 on your usage describe there, but bear in mind that studio 1555 only ideal for mild-medium gaming, not for high-end gaming.. I tried playing Fifa10, it plays smoothly on my studio 1555, so i guess it won't be a problem.. btw, i bought this laptop with upgrade to Full HD..

web surfing? watching movies? office work? studio 1555 is ideal for you thumbup.gif

I don't think they will distribute it. If I not mistaken you need to download the Win 7 yourself and install it. You might wanna give Dell a call once the Win 7 is officially release.

I don't think that is a HDD LED indicator. It is more to a battery signal or power signal laugh.gif Using the same laptop as yours and I still can't figure out why Dell doesn't wanted to install a HDD LED indicator, cutting cost maybe doh.gif
