I agree to that. Lawrence, the cages are too small. sweat.gif

What you can do, go to a petshop/fishshop that sells guppy tanks. Get the second largest or largest tank. Buy in bulk and you'll usually get discount.

In these tanks you can continue to keep them without worrying about space. Furnish with toys, toilet card rolls etc. I'm afraid those cages can't hold them for long. That cage is too small for even dwarf hamsters. sweat.gif

Haha, Lawrence, good luck ya, guys, cut him some slack la, he just got it from friend not long, so need time and $$ to gather all stuff.

But I believe the end result should be nice, and I think we might be seeing Lawrence's name in LYN pet store often now. Haha. Hunting for good stuff for the Syrian.

Neways, cute Ham you have, all nice colour. Love them. Hope you can get big big discount when you buy those tanks, I think just buy the 2ft tank from petshop and fast fast hunt for wheels in LYN pet store. Gd luck and want to see more of your pic!

@Yana: I agree, more pic makes this place merrier. Hamster thread ma, so must have a lot of hamsters!

Lets see, 13hour 28minutes more

Bro,i guess u shud make ur own box la... brows.gif..
what i can say is,the way to make it very easy, and save cost too.(just need to spend some times)
There are some website that show the way to make a hams' house.
Try to google it..
u have 8 syrians, that kinda big number family sure need a lot of space.
buy a big Toyogo Box,then buy the silent wheel (with stand).
Sure they will live happily. blush.gif

*just my opinion.

Yah , thats good opinion..
I do it to my dwarfs...WW..
The storage box is cheaper too than 2ft tank that i think cost more than RM25.

I had that thought too, just have to go through all the procedures, the only troublesome part is the top, if you can figure it out, then its easy job for you.

Lets see, 4hours and 33minutes.

um...silent wheel doesn't come in 8 inch. perfect sized wheel for a syrian is 8 inch. you can get comfort wheel(8.5) or a wodent wheel(8).

and what bedding are you using? pine bedding are really bad for hamsters. some would recommend Chipsi pine bedding( but i'll try to avoid anything that has pine in it). or you can use Breeder's Celect with shredded toilet rolls.

hi ppl, if some of u remember, i posted something about my new WW that is incredibly hyperactive, territorial and very very bitey. it's been a week and while he seems a little more settled, it is still quite evident that he does not want anyone to lay hands on anything in his cage, he would literally run n bite me if i tried to do so obviously. the only times i get to touch him is when he's eating something he really likes and even so he does try to turn around for a bite once in awhile... i seriously doubt this is normal and am close to conceding that it is his personality with not much there is to do about it as he was the little bit extra active one in the cage when i bought him... i have kept syrians before and if their behaviour can be used as reference, i'm pretty sure my WW is not scared or stressed as he does seem rather settled, just very territorial... but before i give up on ever being able to handle him, what are your thoughts or suggestions on this situation?

well i did mention i dont see any signs of fear or stress, just an excessive territorial and aggressive behaviour that can be a bother at times.. i'm just wondering if i should just accept the fact that that is unfortunately the natural personality of that hamster and there's nothing much i can do about it....

Lets give it a month, I bet sooner or later you can hand-handle your Ham. Just be patience, I know its hard to accept that even after a week there is no evident changes, I know it is frustrating since everyone wants them to be tame and good from the get-go, but given time and etc etc, you might be surprised, just don't give up yet!

@Lalabubbles: Thanks for the advice, just too bad can't connect my cage with the OVO, maybe when the next gathering I will try bringing my cage out and let some of you guys try, maybe it can fit, but I'm afraid of spoiling it, as I have a tendency to break stuffs! cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif
Maybe its because my cage is not Habitrail. Haha. Well, just hope thats not the case.

Thx again to Lalabubbles and IcedNyior!

how often do you handfeed him??? try placing your hand in the cage with his fav treat...and try taking him out often...you can use gloves(this is what my friend did)...take him out every night and let him run about you room for at least 10 minutes( and trust me hamsters love large spaces to run about)...and do not forget to supervise him. and while he runs around, sit on the floor with him and he'll come to sniff you, he can get used to your smell.
i used these ways to tame smokey. and he'such a darling now! the idea is you must make these a habit.

As for this matter, I also have ONE WW male has the same problem... it's actually due to the own personalities of the hamster actually I would say so. This is because no matter how much I play and feed him... as long as any unknown moving objects enter his territorial... he will attack... might be due to the young age frighten at the petshop.

So well... what I did was I just leave him as he please... I do feed him food and bring him out to play... with gloves and a food container. As time past, he's now around 10-11months old already... he becomes more tame and less defensive already...

Last time, I used to been bitten by him more than 5times... so ended up I concluded that he's happier to be alone and dislike interaction human. However, the most important is the owner is willing to continue keeping him than rather letting him for adoption, or worst just release him back to the nature. It's not easy with this kind of hamsters...but their owner really need lotsa patients and love for them... I would say it's definitely possible to tame them !

Anyway, that's my situation... yours might be alike... or may be ur lucky abit better than mine... but just u gotta be patient...

Hope that helps ^^

Haha, its ok, since I was going to COD with two person, might as well wait. So me and my GF's little sister chit chat a little, seldom have chance to talk to her.
Now they are asleep, somehow lucky GF not here, haha, cause if she is here, sure kacau them, don't let them sleep one. So now I just let them enjoy a good sleep, then tonight/early morning when GF comes back (4am), we will play with them. Hehe. Will upload pic by the next few days.

Sure thing, next time I bring the cage/tubes/connectors and them out also la, so you can see them, but most likely just going to Sunway sometime next week. Cause don't want to waste petrol traveling liao. Hehe. This month used up quite a portion of my salary + allowance.
