based on my observation...silent spinner wheel has higher possibilities for hamster to summersault if they run fast and sudden stop...the silent spinner wheel is very smooth and very thick/heavy compared to other brand...due to the weight, the wheel generates high inertia, thus make the wheel harder to stop if the hamster suddenly stop running...this will most likely to happens to dwarf hamster cause they are small ang lightweight...

cause i read before the reason why 8" is recommended is cause syrian usually grow full size till 8"
i also read that syrian hamster not easy to keep because
they are suppose to be given a smaller wheel when young
and a bigger wheel when they grow older

oh...but right now i still using 6.5" wheel, so maybe its good to get 8" wheel...so i got both then...hahaha small & big. & my fatty ass hamster no need worry one....when he stop the wheel also stops... he is heavy & dosent run fast...but the wheel shake tho...it dosent stay on 1 place coz the wheel stand isnt that heavy. might need to put something heavy on the wheel stand...

yup, most probably wil not occur to syrians cause they are big sadly for dwarf, its usually occurs...my WW always sumersault cause using this wheel...my gf has a robo and the robo runs much faster and robo is small/lighter than my WW, so i surely robo will summersault too...

I think I got my 8" wodent wheel for about RM 70 ish. It's pretty silent and my dwarf loves it, That thing is in my bedroom and I can still sleep when my hamsters run. Well... unless they go and stuff seeds inside and make it rattle >.>

There's a pet shop in Sri Hartamas that stocks Vitakraft (well it did last I checked). The little pet stand in the Hartamas shopping center top floor does too from time to time, and also the PLC in 1 Mont Kiara. But the PLC one tends to run out quick.

thats why dwarfs needs smaller wheels
otherwise will somersault

the reason for buying a wheel of right diameter is so that
when your pet runs, the spine is straight
and not bent like how most syrians are when given a smaller wheel

oh ya...petsmore sells chipmunk too...hehehe but i dont think we can play or hold it tho...their nails was very long & looks very active...they jump from bottom to the side cage in less than 1sec

unless we are willing to let it hop on your trees and risk loosing it
i mean as pets they should be tamed but we also should not keep it in a way that changes their nature right?

hamsters like to burrow tunnels and dig so we provide them alot of bedding to dig in

you grow a tree in their cage for them climb?

yeah....thats the thing...if u let them out they might escape...even if didnt escape its gonna be really really hard to catch them. i m not sure if u can grow tree in a cage hehehe....but i do know there are really huge tall cages that are usually used for sugar gliders...u could use that...but still chipmunk wont be easy if u want to keep it as a pet. btw its rm180

more expensive than gerbils...maybe coz its rare...
