most absorbing and safe for hammies i confirm you
woody pet is the answer
yeah winter white likes cold
syrian like hot
the way to know is to see if your hamsters like to dig it carry it in their pouch and all lor smile.gif

btw hamlet just pee-ed in woody pet
NO SMELL AT ALL
and its natural, packaging say can flush down toilet in small amount
wont clog your plumbing
its made of wood, which i feel has more natural feel to hamsters than those newspaper or corncob type

will try for few more days and report back here smile.gif

I've been using Woody Pet and Back2Nature for quite a while. Woody Pet is definitely superior when it comes to the odor control. When cleaning, I scoop out most of the solid Woody Pet from the tank and use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the dusty bits at the bottom.

The only problem with Woody Pet was that one of my hamsters seemed to develop an allergic reaction to it, so I switched back to paper for his tank.

My other hamster lived very happily with the Woody Pet until it died of old age about a week ago. *sigh*

may your hamster rest in peace
at least it had the opportunity to be loved and cared for when it was alive
many animals in our world do not have this opportunity

how do you know your hamster had an allergic reaction?
just wanna make sure that hamlet doesnt have any of those signs
thanks

Thank you. I miss little furball Mochi. He surprised me, really. In the morning he was as normal, in perfect condition and pretty active for his age, running on his wheel and eating, then he went to sleep and just never woke up again... sad.gif At least he died happy, I think.

The other hamster, Gnocchi started scratching a lot and his coat deteriorated about a month after I changed to full Woody Pet. When I first swapped from Back2Nature to Woody Pet, I tested it little by little and he seemed fine with it, but as I said, after a month, his fur turned scruffy and smelly and the skin behind his ears was reddish. This was very sudden. (within 1-2 days) so I took him to the vet.

She said it was an yeast infection triggered by allergy. Since the woody pet was the only thing that I had changed recently, I reversed that and went back to paper. Also had to bathe him with a special medicated wash regularly (bathing hamsters is a whole new level of drama). During that time he lost a bit of weight too, I had to supplement his diet with a lot of extra nutritious stuff. After about 5 months, he seems to have recovered and his coat and weight is almost back to normal. He's just getting old now though, so less active than he was.

u can use the suction thing for bottle. i use suction for my wheel and bottle too , coz i use plastic cage

If you use a plastic aquarium tank, Suction cups will leave permanent blurry marks on the clear plastic walls. I'm not sure why it happens but it does. thought I'd mention it since some people prefer to keep their plastic tank surfaces unblemished.

Breeder Celect is more expensive, and has bigger and harder pellets, but both of them are similar. Yes.

I think I got my 8" wodent wheel for about RM 70 ish. It's pretty silent and my dwarf loves it, That thing is in my bedroom and I can still sleep when my hamsters run. Well... unless they go and stuff seeds inside and make it rattle >.>

There's a pet shop in Sri Hartamas that stocks Vitakraft (well it did last I checked). The little pet stand in the Hartamas shopping center top floor does too from time to time, and also the PLC in 1 Mont Kiara. But the PLC one tends to run out quick.

I'm unsure of how to differentiate them. Guides?
Thanks for the advice. I didn't put them together, though I hoped they do well together. It would be cute to have 2 little hams chasing and playing with each other, I love it very much. But I love my hamsters more than my desire to see them doing so. It hurts to much to see my hamster getting hurt that day.

If you have two winter white males together, the chances are actually quite high that they will fight when they turn adults because their behaviour changes with age. Even if they are siblings and get along well with each other, once they grow up, it's different.

Mine started out that way, but I had to separate them both when they were about 1 year old since they starting turning territorial and fighting until they drew blood.

If you REALLY want them to live together, and the hamsters are really young, you can try the split cage method. But just keep in mind you might have to separate them eventually anyway.

IF they are different species of hamster, yes, they will probably fight until one of them dies and gets eaten.
