it could be the start of warts.

or it could be just an inflamed finger from an injury. I can't be too sure because none of my hamsters are ever sick before.

thanks for the advice, i will try to monitor for a week if still same or worse i will bring her to clinic happy.gif

hi everyone,

my female hammy died today T_T, i was wanted to monitor how she doing for a week but today she passed away.

she kept all the food/shit in her mouth when she died, swelled finger seem become smaller, i notice her stomach got abit blood water also, anyone know what is the reason?, i called pet wonderland and they said is caused by fighting/food poisoning/shock but i dont really accept this answer cause the male i been rare more than few month was ok and the female i purchase on 1 jan 2010 died today.

according to pet wonderland, they never really treat their pet with any med or monitor their health.

No use calling pets wonderland ppl, they are juz a bunch of worker without proper knowledge of the pets they are selling i assure u
U shld have bring her to vets asap rather than observe for a week and see how it goes
A week is enough for most of the disease to kill ur pets

U can always DIY a wired mesh lid to cover the aquarium
I clean mine once a week when using wood shaving bedding

Here's a very old pic of my setup for my Button

I'm not a hamster expert. Just wanna share my own experience =)
Robovski is perhaps a lil too small for your daughter. & they're very active =_=" can always see them running around, stepping on their mates in their cage. haha.
How about Winter Normal? the one I'm having =)
the ones you can get from pet shops r mostly young ones. like about few weeks old.
Do check out this website for more info: http://www.petwebsite.com/hamsters.asp
good luck! laugh.gif

But I need a reply URGENTly!

Has anyone brought their hamsters to any vets around subang area before?
I just found a lump on my hamster. Bringing him to the vet 1st thing tomorrow.
This is the 1st time i'm bringing my pets to a vet.
So I need to know where & roughly how much do they charge?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I know in subang SS14 there got a vet.. beside the bakuteh area..
not really sure how much it will cost.. why not asking the price 1st before letting the doctor cure your pet? But im sure it will be less than RM50..

Anyway, wish ur hamster get well soon smile.gif

Syrian is the best bet for children, they are bigger in size hence easier to handle and slower, so just in case if your daughter accidentally drop it on the floor, it will be easier to chase after it, and since the bigger size, chances of escaping through small holes are lessen. Just read up a little more on Syrian and you are ready to go.

Basic hamster care is just the same just bear in mind that there are 2types of Syrian (Long/Short fur), either way, both are same and needs to be kept alone, best is a 2feet tank which you can easily get from pet store or you can DIY those big TOYOGO boxes. Just remember, never house more than one Syrian in a cage/tank.

Ask again if you have more question, others will be more than happy to assist.

p/s: Try to get from breeder and not petshop, as hamster from breeders are proven tamer as they are used to being handled by humans! Chances to bitten is reduced which is the most important factor when choosing for the kids. Other stuff can get from petshop.
