Bro,Motul 5100 cost how much? hmm.gif

Fixed at my first post. The Motul 5100 i'd use were the Ester one. BTW at my place dis EO cost around rm35-40

Pemilihan minyak hitam bergantung kepada perjalanan. Kalau slalu long distance. Tak sesuai pakai minyak murah walaupun ko tukar kerap.

   1. EO Semi synthetic ( PAO /biasa) = Tuka 2000km
   2. EO semi synthetic ( Ester ) = 2500Km
   3. FUlly synthetic ( PAO/biasa = 3000-3500km
   4. FUlly synthetic ( Ester ) = 4000km
   5. FUlly SYnthetic ( DOuble Ester ) = 5500km+
Soz

The point in red above were quite true. When using dis ester oil...sometimes u (maybe out of ur budget etc tongue.gif ) can't change EO
on exact times or on the planned mileage. With dis EO i don't feel any much difference(in riding/engine feel etc) when i'm dragged my bike to change oil (supposedly at 2500km) to 3-3500km. For those who on long distance (I'm riding my bike around 70-80km daily from my home to workplace) everyday why don't give dis EO a try.

redframelowyat: this is called 'gear-stuck', not 'clutch slip'.

Clutch-slip is when you pull throttle when riding normally and then RPM just go up on its own without speed increasing.

so how do i prevent the gear stuck? is it related with EO also?

edit: oh what i mean by stuck when shifting is, i wanted to shift down to gear 3 and the gear doesnt completely shift down, meaning that it become like in neutral, between 4 and 3.

Last time using Motul ester 10w-40 priced rm44.
Now Motul Ester 15w-50 priced Rm35.
From my test, 15w-50 is better than 10w-40 for our engine.

does motul better than castrol? hmm.gif

redflame: yeah, i know. It will either stuck and won't shift off, or stuck halfway shifting and the next gear won't jump in.

Some reasons: clutch cannot completely disengage, so gearbox is still halfway 'stuck' to the engine, and gear becomes hard to change. How old is ur bike? Sometimes, autoclutch behaves like this with new clutch plates.

At times, EO affects gearshift because bike gearbox is wet sump. Not necessary thinner or thicker EO is best. Sometimes, engine cold shift ok, once hot becomes different. At other times, it's the other way round. This is normal, even Harley's have problem like this. wink.gif

The forum here so far talk about EO, mainly talking about experience with gear shift. There's a saying: New engine, thin oil, old engine, thick oil. Which holds true because old engine loose, tends to vibrate more, so thick EO will dampen vibration better. New engine tighter, need thin EO to lubricate engine faster but less damping.

Cheap EO sure not good, expensive EO not always suitable. you need to try for yourself to tell what's best... listen to engine, feel the gear shift at cold and hot, check dipstick once a while, check plug etc.

Added on January 28, 2010, 1:53 pmMotul and Castrol are big oil company.

Castrol make mineral based oil can compete with some synthetic ones. Motul has ester based fully synthetics. Both makes good products.

about ur other question...erm quite difficult to determine which better which not.
But to avoid "fanboyism flame", I said dis base on my experience using both. As i'd already
mention before. I used the castrol power1(rm20+) & then change to motul1000(rm20+)
on my EX5. But i felt my bike perform somewhat a little better when using Motul.
So u decide tongue.gif

About EO... last time i was using Motul ester 10w 40, engine a bit noisy but "aggresive".
After reading bro rainingzero post, decided to try 15w 50 EO
Went to motro shop, too bad the shop does not have Motul ester 15w 50, only have Hi Rev 15w 50, nvm lah, give it a try... only costs rm20++
And yes bro rainingzero was right, the 15w 50 makes my engine a lot smoother and quiet. It is easier to start my bike early in the morning too.
I will try the Motul ester 15w 50 on my next service, not so soon, maybe 2 months later flex.gif

BTW... last Wed suddenly got mood to rev my bike, so i full throtle a while (about 30 sec), top speed can reach 140kmph
But the wind too strong blow until my tears also come out, very scary, so decided to slow down, i think if i keep full throtle longer maybe can go up to 150kmph
140kmph is very nice for me liao, so i am not planning to mod my bike any further, planning to save $$ to change my rear tyre to MPS 90/80 tongue.gif
