It's hard to answer a question like that. Because i've seen some low-RMS speakers that can perform really well in big rooms and some high-RMS speakers that distort when set to loud volume. Perhaps different driver and amplifier designs all contribute as well here.

You can test the R501MKII at the Edifier Showroom, though.

Maybe I'll pop by one day and see what's the diff between a R501MKII and a S5.1M.

hahaha...i just get my edifier R501 MKII today ....superb sound even with my built in sound card nice sound ....btw there is 2 type of MKII .....one is older ver and one is latest ver ...price different around 40 buck ...one with yellow white packaging and one with black blue packaging.. i ask the saleperson they say they speaker and woffer bigger abit but output still same....behind connector also new and more easy ..not messy like before which i notice

Old box is the MKI, new one is more flashy. Don't forget the added tweeters. Anyway, how much did it cost you?

Although I missed the R501MKII auction, my gf bid and won the M2300 tho. Helped her set it up at her place just now and boy, the clarity and tightness of bass is really something compared to my aging Inspire 4400s.
