Another specialist is
Dr.Ng Peng Chua
35A,Jalan 14/20
46100 Petaling Jaya
Tel:79576181

My cough already about 1 month but cant recover especially midnight & so go to seek for specialist.

I felt his explaination quite ok but the fee really DAMN Expensive!!

RM125 - consultation fee ( as the Nurse told )
RM130 - spray & put 1 instrument inside my nose to check
RM75   - medicine
So total RM330, i thought medical center only will charge high.
Luckily i bring enough money because there only can pay cash.

Suddenly felt @_@ cause unexpected so high of charges even jz a small upstair clinic...hope the medicine really can cure my problems.

Why do you see an ENT specialist if you are coughing.

Shouldn't you see a chest specialist?

This doctor is very lan si. I brought my mum to visit him around 2 weeks ago to do check up, after everything he said my mum should take antibiotic and blah blah blah, then i asked him if there is anything that can substitute the antibiotic, you all know what he replied? He said, you go invent la, if success then we all change, then i'll be billionaire, I was so f***ing angry. We are not doctor, sure will ask some stupid question, and I don't think that is a stupid question as well. As a professional, but I've no idea why he talked like gangster. His impression for me from 100% dropped to 10%, even though he is an expert in ENT.

DR Koay Cheng Boon, I think you should go back to school to learn how to talk. some more you're are a doctor. F***, if we all know the answer, you won't be there already.

To those who have been using such strong and unsavoury words be mindful that you can be sued for libel and defamation. Under the new
Act which was passed in parliament recently you may find yourself (and the web administrator too) in a situation that you hoped you have not
posted such remarks in the first place.

No matter how much you hated the person, more so he is a professional, character assassination and slandering another in the open and being
sued and found guilty of the act is a painful and costly affair. As a professional he can demand a hefty compensation if you lose the case, which is very
likely the way you made the posting.

If you do are unhappy with his professional conduct, you may refer him to the Malaysian Medical Council. Do not take matters into you own hands
and make such slandering remarks in forum like this. You will regret it.

Dr Koay Cheng Eng (the brother of the much-mentioned Dr Koay Cheng Boon) is very good. He is soft-spoken and has a lot of empathy. By the sounds of it after reading of others' experience with Dr Koay Cheng Boon, he's very different from his brother.

Dr Koay Cheng Eng now operates out of Sunway Medical Centre, no longer out of Gleneagles. (Dr Koay Cheng Boon seems to have run into some... "legal problems" so Dr Koay Cheng Eng has taken over his brother's clinic there.) Dr Koay Cheng Eng has solved sinus problems for so many of my family members. Be prepared to wait a while to get to your turn to see him though, he's very popular.

I totally agreed with what u said, I done my sinus operation with Dr Koay Cheng Boon in 2008 and my nose right side still encounter some problem. This week, I call up and got informed by nurse, Dr Koay Cheng Boon on Sabbatical leave
and when to see Dr Koay Cheng Eng, and I notice Dr KCE is a real good doctor, immediately, he explained my problem after diagnose with picture (screenshot) where is the problem of my nose and give advise to my what to do.

Both Doctor are OK but Dr KCE willing to explain more if u ask me

Get ready at least RM500. Charges should be reasonable since you're seeing a specialist.

sometimes cost me more than 400 depending on what kind of sickness.
everytime i go there sure use the scope which costs a bomb for nothing cuz few years back in my blood test they detected something that indicates cancer cells in my nose and from then on QCB kept using the scope to check if there's any tumors growing.

it isn't necessary anymore çuz it costs like 80 bucks or so each time sad.gif

I was charged 60 for the scope procedure + 10 for equipment usage. And yea, it depends on the sickness. More procedures might be needed for certain sickness. Some might need different medications too, which the cost varies.

Just to share my case.

I have sinus problem since years back and getting worst day by day with included Nasal discharge backflow into throat and coughing non stop.

Went to Dr Gan Tong Nee@Sunmed, tried few types of sprays(Mar, Afrin, Nasonex) and it wont helps and he decided to do FESS(8k+) on me.
Did First time, after few weeks my problem and my problem back again.
Did CT scan, found that got infection and mucal tissues building up, and he did second time of FESS(7K+) on me.
Problem came back after few weeks again, this time he gave me antibiotics and ask me consider for Balloon sinuplasty which costing 12K++.
I keep telling him my throat is not feeling well but he just ignore it and keep focus on my nasal part.
I then gave up on him and stop visiting.

My backflow and coughing continues for next few months until my GP doc told me to try Dr Megat@ColumbiaAsia Puchong.
Dr Megat did some basic checks on my nasal and my throat and shown me some of the images.
The sinus points is good condition which thanks to FESS, no infections, no blockage except one side of it kinda narrow.

He gave me tried Nasacort & Nasonex but the result is not good too and he found my coughing problem was due to acid reflux.
Dr Megat refer me to Dr Jurina(Physician) to get second opinions.

Dr Jurina really damn good and she sent me to do few test and confirmed my problem was due to acid reflux.
She gave me controloc and few other medicine which I can feel the different after that but she told me that I need to control my stress level too which it did contribute to this problem.
Last few weeks, my problem getting serious, and she put me into ward.
She get Dr Yong Chun Woon to do stomach scoping to make sure everything is ok.
She get Dr Megat to continue treat my nasal part.
She put controloc into my body for 48 hours.

after 3D2N of treatment(7K++ included 3 specialist charges), now I feel better and my coughing is fixed!
and now I know what is the real problem.
Nasal discharge backflow can't be fix easily, that will need to depends on environment, weather but I'm a lot better now.
Acid reflux, Now I know how to handle it properly.

But once I over ate too much, then I can feel the relux again...LOL

Just to share my experiences , in case anyone of you having same problem as mine.
Hope everyone stay healthy smile.gif

Are all these treatments covered by medical insurance?

With Dr Gan Tong Nee, RM8k + 7k + 12k = RM27k+

With Dr Megat, Dr Jurina, Dr Yong Chun Woon = RM7k+

Altogether RM35k+. Quite a hefty sum there.

Okay, good to know. Well, if your company doesn't have medical insurance policy for employees, or the lack of it, you can always use your own medical coverage either to cover or top up on the maximum amount that has been used up by the company's insurance(say the maximum cap of the company's medical insurance is up to RM100k, and you are claiming RM130k. Your own medical insurance will top up the RM30k).

If without medical insurance coverage, one will have no choice but to use up his/her own savings account to pay for the medical expenses. Specialist treatments are not cheap, so insurance is usually useful to cater for some of these unforeseen treatments that may be required in future.

Hi Cedriccheah,

I saw your post and your experience on the FESS and its complications after that. I went to Dr. Gan also recently, in fact, just last week, when my nose was bleeding for about a month and did not heal after seeing a GP, so I went to Dr. Gan in Sunway. Went for a follow up this week with Dr. Gan, the bleeding was healed and he asked me if i want to do a full Sinus Scan to see if my Sinus is ok...

So I agreed since I always have this sinus problems with my sensitive nose and i thought it would be good also to find out.

Scan was alright as there was no tumour or something like that, but bad news was my sinus was clogged/narrow and I had quite a big POLYPS on my right side of my sinus. So, to make the story short, Dr. Gan advised me to go for FESS (Functional endoscopic sinus surgery) to take out the Polyps and also to test and see if the polyps type, worry it is Iverted Papilloma which may cause cancer in the future.

My question is, since you have experience on the FESS and had complications, I was worried also. I do not mind going for FESS if that will solve some issues, but do you think I should check with Columbia hospital before going for the FESS? What should I check with Columbia?

Most importantly, how are you feeling right now after all the hassle with FESS (2 times) and 3 Specialist in Columbia? Do you feel totally alright now or any complications still now?

Hope to hear from you soon.

That's what I never did in the past.
For my opinion, we should always consider for 2nd opinions from another specialist.
If your medical coverage by company, I don't see any problem if you go get Dr Megat's advice and then decide on that.
The things Dr Gan told you almost same like what he told me...wonder if that is his regular advice for this problem..

Hope you recover soon smile.gif

I had POLYPS 2 months back and in between of my nose and cheek was hurting very badly and one of my eyes too till i had to close the eye to lessen the pain. it was swelling hence it blocked my nostrils too

I did not have surgery but instead I took an injection and meds to lessen the swelling. From what I've learned it is not necessary to remove it unless it occurs too frequently.
