Thanks! You've got a point there, but for class, portability really means a lot. The sleekness is just like the icing on the cake tongue.gif Tonight I'll experiment with OS X, and read some guidelines by the mac gurus here biggrin.gif

When I bought the Speck, they have 3 colors, red, yellow and purple. Didn't see any black color. It also has the Speck hard shell type but I like the soft touch finishing so bought the Satin.

Anyone know whether if using Speck SeeThru, can I still put on Moshi palm guard? Thinking of getting palm guard as well.
*
im using both seethru and palmguard. no problem smile.gif

Shouldn't I be getting Snow Leopard instead ?
*

type about:config in the address bar, n click the I'll be careful button.

find browser.gesture.swipe.down, double click and enter cmd_close -> close tab

browser.gesture.swipe.down, enter cmd_newNavigatorTab -> new tab

browser.gesture.twist.left, Browser:PrevTab

browser.gesture.twist.right, Browser:NextTab

of course you're not limited to those 4...its just how i set mine up smile.gif for more commands go to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:...:config_Entries

anybody using late 2008 15 inch macbook pro having the same problem as me? my screen seems to flicker once in a while..for no apparent reason
*
usually when that happens to me, its because of unstable electricity from the power outlet. the screen suddenly become less bright for a split second because it switches to the battery for a while

p/s: are you sure iWork wont work as good on window-based pc? plan on getting iWork, but if it means i need to get a projector alongside it, hahha i might actually need to think twice.  shocking.gif
*
iWork itself is a good software suite, but it doesnt play well with the more standard Office. lets say u do ur assignment in iWork, with all ur formatting and stuff... then u decide to save as .doc to submit to ur lecturer, most of the time something weird will happen. it'd be nice if everyone in the world use iWork, but they simply dont.

no need to say iWork, even Office 2008 for Mac also sometimes got problem with Office 2007 in windows.

the projector adapter thing is up to u. it's a must if u want to use Keynote for ur presentation (which u should, it's much better than powerpoint), but now i juz make my slides in simple PDF and concentrate more on my communication skills (well, lack of ;p)

Ah thanks for the really informative replies. Well, based on what I've read so far it seems that it would take some time to get used to using it since it's a completely new OS to me, and there are compatibility issues.

Another matter that i'll have to enquire is, based on your personal experiences using the Macbook/Macbook Pro or any Mac for that matter, is it "suitable" for a student? Because currently I'm just having an impression that the Mac OS is more 'simplistic' compared to Vista/W7. I'm going to start college on January next year so I'm just asking around for a good laptop.
*
YES ;p imagine having all ur important almost-done assignments, long long notes n all...then suddenly u lose it all cuz ur notebook kena virus. die lo. it's pretty common ooo tongue.gif

one more thing is Expose + Spaces... for me it's really2 helpful when im doing research or studying... can open as many files as possible but still have no trouble skimming over them. well windows7 has a similar feature too but i still think OSX implementation is much better

Was tempted by the machines offer for the old previous generation macbook white at rm2999, but thinking seriously of either the MBP or the new white macbook with education discount online. Which should I opt for, the new white macbook or the MBP. Specs wise are more or less the same. Thinking of using for at least 2 years and buying in Jan 2010.
*
mmmm macbook should be fine smile.gif no firewire love rite?

i hate it when people juz ask like this. is it too much to describe more? 'cannot log in' can mean so many things...at what screen did u get stuck? any error messages?

aiya. Can take out already. shit. But I want to claim warranty soon. my earphone pod is loose and I dont know why. Will they change for me 1 for 1?

And which one should I go to? The BsC one is it? Thanks a lot bro
*
if i remember right, all macbooks/pros right now using the 'three ring type' audio jack that can support both audio in and out..this type of port is slightly loose compared to the old one. mine is loose as well, but still ok la. juz have to adjust2 my headphone a bit when using ;p

Added on December 26, 2009, 4:53 pmumm guys, i've just starting shooting RAW on my camera, and when i import them into lightroom 2.5... performance dropped a lot compared to dealing with JPEGs (of the same picture/resolution). i'm aware that RAW files contain more info n such...but do u guys suffer any substantial lag when dealing with RAW files? my specs are as below, using 9600m gt.

Dear All,

Need some help before I purchase my MBP tomorrow. Is 2gb ram good enough for surfing, occasional gaming such as left for dead, video and movie watching, Itunes and Blackberry as well as office work at home? Also what about hard disk space, is 160gb enough or I can upgrade cheaper outside myself for both ram and hard disk later when I have money. Thanks
*
no one can say if 160gb is enough for u or not tongue.gif. but if u wanna upgrade, get a 2.5" SATA hdd urself at normal computer shops n upgrade yourself. very easy. same goes to RAM

but for ur usage, 2GB is fine smile.gif

Macbook Pro 13 seems a ripoff to me. You can similiar spec (same proc, same ram, same gpu) for Macbook 13 with bigger HDD (250 over 160) for RM1000 lesser. All you get in the Macbook Pro is Aluminium unibody.

I think you should wait for the MBP update.
*
u forgot firewire. some people need this.

and, well, MBP looks better, for a longer time. white plastic, after a few months can get dirty hehe...
