AS the world's biggest and richest club, Manchester United reach a global fanbase.

Part of the attraction for fans around the world has been the football luminaries, such as George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton, who have graced the Old Trafford turf in a Manchester United shirt over the years.

Recently, Manchester United have continued to attract or develop some of the game's biggest names, with England stalwarts such as Paul Scholes and David Beckham having been regular fixtures in the Reds line-up.

The Manchester United team, past and present, reads like a who's who of world football.

It is only fitting that a great team should grace a great stadium. And with Old Trafford's recent development and the closure of Wembley, the ground is easily the largest in English football, holding in excess of 60,000 fans.

Despite this capacity, the demand to see United in action is so great that tickets are hard to come by.

But it isn't only Manchester United fans who flock to Old Trafford. The standard of the ground is such that it regularly hosts high-profile games, most notably, the Champions League Final and Great Britain rugby league games.

Rock fans have also made use of the Reds's facilities, watching a number of high-profile acts at the ground.

But it's football that will forever be synonymous with the Reds famous ground - and with good reason.

The last decade has seen Manchester United under the shrewd leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson maintain a virtual stranglehold on the Premiership crown.

Manchester United has won the league no fewer than 17 times in their history - 10 times in the last 11 seasons. They are also Cup Kings too, winning the FA cup 11 times, the league cup twice, as well as winning the European Super Cup, European Cup Winner's Cup, and 3 times being crowned European Cup champions.

Manchester United has long become a name associated with success both on and off the pitch.

As club profits continue to grow, Manchester United have become one of the richest sports clubs on the planet.

With supporters club branches on every continent, it's hard to go any where in the world and not see somebody wearing the famous red shirt of Manchester United.

Some people already writing us off due to the lost of both Tevez and Ronaldo. Worst, even our own fans writes us off. What a let down. As for me, I'm just gonna support the grandmaster to start his game.

Wooohoo!

"We mulled it over for a few months," he said. "We knew Michael's contract was expiring at the end of last season. I'd intended to bring another player in and we were waiting on a decision from Carlos Tevez about what he was going to do. But we weren't getting any answers there, which put us in a bit of a quandry.

"We felt we'd waited long enough so we tried to sign Karim Benzema from Lyon. And Michael knew that was the plan. At 21 years of age, Benzema was a real possibility for us. But as soon as that fell through I contacted Michael."

i saw in soccernet that beckham would consider a return to EPL. His heart has always been at manchester united and if he could join us and retire with us i would be delighted but seeing him with SAF...that would never happen

Tevez <- felt like such a sellout.
Nani <- definitely have room to improve and perform just as long as he don't try too hard to copy ronaldo.

The green gate I mentioned is for the match day, I think for the training session is like whoever reach 1st, get to sit in front. I will be at the stadium at 4pm. Wait for one and a half hour is okay, before this wait gf for 2 hours also can, this is Man Utd so Man Utd > Gf laugh.gif

I am no economist but this is my take on the world financial crisis. Super confident bankers financed projects with money which doesn’t exist. More money than we have on the planet. It collapsed and now the average man and dog has to knuckle down for a few years to keep the world afloat. Great.

Apart from middle-management the world over whooping with glee at the increase in power this gives them over their more vulnerable employees, I expected another reaction to this. Namely, I expected a bit of common sense to prevail across the board in large industry.

Not so top level football it seems. Real Madrid and Manchester City have made this year’s transfer market look like a drug-crazed lottery winner in Vegas. Has anybody taken the time to look at Newcastle United recently? Dear Lord there is a warning there.

Manchester United the ‘business’ is not something I am a huge fan of. In fact, it is up there with tinea, air quotes and the phrase ‘knowhatamean’. I have not bought a match day program since the Glazer takeover, nor do I intend to.

Gill, on the other hand, I hold a begrudging respect for. He emerges favourably with comparisons to Peter Kenyon and Martin Edwards, although it must be noted Edwards was at least a true fan.

United’s movement so far in the transfer window has been described as frugal. If we had spent £17million pounds on a Wigan player five years ago people would have suspected the manager of eating those special mushrooms you get in Amsterdam before checking the documents. Nowadays it is called frugal. Deary me, reality checks all round.

Despite the losses of Ronaldo and Tevez United must still have the strongest youth set up in world football. And it is making money too. Ronaldo represents £67.5million profit on a six-year investement which has seen us win every major trophy going. I’ll take that. In addition to this, we have made money on the sales of Frazier Campbell and Phil Bardsley among others. The future of the club looks fairly sound.

The pursuit of glory is of course important, but I still want to turn up on a Saturday and watch a team, not a shadow of former glories headed for the fires of oblivion. That is what the Geordies have to look forward to this season.

We may not win the league this coming year, no team has ever won four in a row and I have my doubts. But the club will still be here tomorrow. As I walk around the supermarket looking for the discount margarine I realise I will not be buying that Ferrari this year, or trampling through Vegas with a suitcase full of lottery cash either. But I’ll still be here tomorrow too.

A bit of credit for common sense please. Football is escapism yes, but how far can you escape from reality without it coming crashing back down on top of you? Good luck City.

Bukit Jalil station, the stadium just beside the station.

How about Sg. Besi LRT station, If I am not mistaken the train will go straight to Bukit Jalil stadium.

mellow.gif i think Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT is better tho. Bigger parking space,Sg. Besi station park roadside =/ plus, if he comes from Johor direction, the exit of Plus highway is nearer to Tasik Selatan compare to Sg. Besi which needs to exit @ seri kembangan --->the mines ---> rm1.30 Toll ---> Sg. Besi LRT.

Agree with rayzy22
Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT surely jam on the day. If you go to Sg. Besi, there are many parking over the roadside, front of kedai makan, and much more at the back in front of shops, should be secure enough if you do not plan to go back too late because the shops should open until at least 10pm.

But yes, tasik selatan is easier to go from the highway. BTW, Endah parade should be a good choice for everyone, including me smile.gif

you have choice to choose smile.gif

Hello guys. Im flying to kl from kk tmr and i need some assistance on how to move about to B. Jalil. If i were to depart from KL central, should i head up to M.Jamek then change to STAR to B.Jalil?

Btw, which side of the green gate is better, above the VIP or the opposite?

Thanx in advance:)

Wow from KK for Man Utd, what a spirit, bravo man.
If from the airport, cab is the fastest and easiest way I think, should be around RM80.
If want cheaper option, your own suggestion should be reasonable already.

well, the media seems to think so..since we do not have 'star' player compare to chelsea and pool..i mean, its better to be the underdog, less pressure for the team..infact ppl are already writting off our chance to retain the epl this coming season saying that NO TEAM have won it 4 times in a row..well i guess lets be the underdog and prove them wrong..

I wouldn't dare claim to be the underdog, but what baffles me is how the very ppl who tagged Ronaldo as nothing more but a showpony and cheat which we'd be better off without are suddenly saying that by selling Ronaldo we're taking 5 steps back and will never be able to win anything now.

hello guys, can help me to decide which route should i take for the training.. will be going from shah alam at 4pm, as i go with my gf and she's working until 4pm..
1. Take KTM Batu 3, buy ticket to Bandar Tasik Selatan, then change to STAR, go to Bkt Jalil.
2. Take KTM Batu 3, go to KTM Bank Negara, change to STAR, go straight Bkt Jalil.
3. Drive to Bkt Jalil via LDP- Kinrara-Bkt Jalil

which one is the best..and i dont want to be late for the training session.
for match vs malaysia no problem

Added on July 15, 2009, 4:24 pmand from Batu 3 do I have to change train in order to go to tasik selatan? got seremban train?

Burnley have completed the signing of Manchester United youngster Richard Eckersley.

The full-back has inked a four-year deal at Turf Moor after turning down a new deal at United.

As he is under 24, Burnley will have to agree a compensation package with United for the 20-year-old.

Eckersley came through the ranks at Old Trafford and he was tipped for a big future at the club.

However, Clarets boss Owen Coyle has managed to persuade him to turn his back on United and move to the Premier League new boys.

Eckersley is Burnley's fifth new signing of the summer following the arrivals of Tyrone Mears, Steven Fletcher, David Edgar and Brian Easton.

Malaysia set for Reds' arrival

QUOTE
Around 50,000 fans are expected to watch United's first open training session of the 2009 Asia Tour in Malaysia on Friday.

Supporters with special passes will see the Reds being put through their pre-season paces at Kuala Lumpur's Bukit Jalil Stadium from 10:30 BST (17.30 local), though this time is subject to change.

Julian Kam, chief executive of tour organisers ProEvents International Sdn Bhd, said: "We would like to encourage fans to come early, to ensure they get to the stadium on time to catch the training."

United play a Malaysia XI at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 10:30 BST (17.30 local). Fans can still buy tickets by calling the Ticketpro hotline on 03-78807999. Only 15,000 tickets are left, priced at RM58 (GBP11), and the match is expected to be a sell-out. Fans are advised to use public transport.

The Reds fly out to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday afternoon and ManUtd.com will have comprehensive coverage of the tour, starting with the travelling party and the latest pre-season photos of the squad.

The Far East trip also takes in Indonesia (July 20), Korea (July 24) and China (July 26). Read all the latest news and features in our dedicated Asia Tour 2009 section.

i think they will allow cameras, especially compact camera. Maybe not DSLR. But then when chelsea came last year i saw so many with dslr.

I even hang my compact camera on my neck when i went to see jason mraz in KL, and they let me in. So dont worry too much. And u can always keep it in the car if they dont allow it. Unless ur taking public transport tongue.gif

bring your bag along, those bag with hidden section..then put few magazine or newspaper in to cover the hidden area so that when the guard check your bag, don't let them touch your bag, open your bag and let them see. I have try many times this way and the successful rate is 100%...not only locally, I smuggle in to HK's expo centre for concert too and their securities are 200% more strict than here...cool.gif

I second that. A Keano would be brilliant. Can you imagine him and Anderson/Fletcher together.. fuuh. While doing the Berba videos, saw a lot of Anderson through passes, they were great!. He will really be the one to replace Scholes, in a different way of course.

The Che crowd was about 10-20K people the most, yet they didn't bother checking. I don't think with about 90K (at least) of people they'll run through everyone perfectly.

Thanx guys for all the great reply regarding my inquiry on how to move about. Im gonna fly to KL tmr with me twisted ankle, but hey its Man United yo~ NO PAIN NO GAIN! biggrin.gif

okay so to reconfirm with the route, i could either travel with klia train, and stop at salak south den take star lrt, or i could take putra lrt to M.Jamek and take star lrt from there. Which one would be more convenient if i might ask?

I reckon the 1st one. The 2nd one would require you to travel all the way to the centre of KL and then head back out. But then again, I nv travelled via KLIA train to Salak South nor travelled via Star.. so yeah =p

i'm guessing that the first option would be easier / shorter and also save money?
cos the 2nd one seems longer.

but i dont take the lrt, so i could be wrong. blush.gif

haha. It seemed that most of us here rarely use the KLIA train to travel to M.Jamek.

Traveling down to M.Jamek could be hectic at most times. I think i would opt for the KLIA train then. smile.gif

not salak selatan, take the train from KLIA until Bandar Tasik Selatan, then take the Star LRT to Bukit Jalil, cheaper and faster thumbup.gif

It is like they take the match with Malaysia as easy game. No need to rest and adjust to time and weather first.
How about Chelsea last time, is it same like this or they arrive earlier?

Che can only beat Malaysia 1-0 (or was it 2-0), Msia actually have the better chance to score but they screw up.

emm.. if the bus use Maju expressway... they should be able to reach the hotel in about 30 to 45 mins time. I think this the best way for them to reach Mandarin Oriental.

Just for the record, Chelsea squad arrived on Sunday (a day earlier), training on Monday. Match day on Tuesday. The Malaysia match was the last leg of their Asia Tour.

Report: Manchester United Rejected Chance To Sign Arsenal's Adebayor
QUOTE
Reports have emerged suggesting Emmanuel Adebayor's representatives offered him to Man United, in a bid to increase his wages...

The Emmanuel Adebayor saga has taken another twist, with sources claiming that he was offered to Manchester United, who rejected the chance to sign him.

Adebayor's expected transfer to Manchester City has hit a snag, as the Togo international has concerns over being seen as a "greedy" player.

However, according to The Daily Mail, Adebayor's representatives offered him to The Red Devils at a time when talks with City over personal terms were stalling. Convinced that they were the only club who had made an offer, The Citizens tried to reduce his demands of £170,000 per week.

Therefore, Adebayor was offered to United, but the club rejected the chance to sign him.

As things stand, Adebayor is reported to be in the process of considering whether to accept Manchester City's latest offer, but Arsenal seem determined to sell him regardless.

50,000 because training passes are given on a limited basis, plus it's a Friday. Those who are working may not be able apply for leave.

I have doubt for the Training Session timing.

As stated by Pro Events & TicketPro, the training session will be at 5.30pm.

But, checked on Hypp.TV website, the info is as below.

I bought ticket online and it is stated there no camera. But my experience at bukit jalil stadium, they will check or just ask. For girls they will be asked to open their handbag. If you bring your compact digital camera should be no problem to hide, dslr nor sure can pass the security or not.

Gibson agrees new deal

QUOTE
Darron Gibson has agreed a three-year contract extension at Old Trafford and is aiming to challenge for regular first-team involvement.

The new deal keeps the 21-year-old Republic of Ireland international at the club until at least June 2012.

"I am very happy to commit my future to United," Darron told ManUtd.com.

"Last season I enjoyed every opportunity and when I got my chance I wanted to prove what I could do. I hope to continue that this season."

Gibson made 14 appearances for the Reds last season, playing an integral part in United's Carling Cup triumph. He also scored three goals, including an outstanding long-distance effort against Hull City on the final day of the league season.

Sir Alex Ferguson says he expects even more from the Irish central midfielder this season.

"Darron was one of the young players who emerged last season as a United first-team player," he told us.

"His appearance ratio did not really reflect the high regard in which we hold him, as he has constantly worked hard to challenge for a first team spot."

Gill hints at more signings

QUOTE
Manchester United chief executive David Gill is not ruling out the possibility of further new signings before the close of the transfer window.

Following the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez over the summer, United had been tipped to spend big in the transfer market.

To date, the Premier League champions have brought in Antonio Valencia, Michael Owen and Gabriel Obertan for an outlay of less than £20million.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson stated earlier this week that he was not planning to make any more major signings after being linked with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero.

However, ahead of the club's pre-season trip to Asia, Gill admits there could still be some transfer activity in the coming weeks.

Gill said: "I will start each day with the usual emails and correspondence, and I'm sure there will be some player activity going on while we are over there."

I wonder who will be taking the penalty, free kick for Man Utd this season?

Corner kick was M.Carrick last season. Could he be the leading person for Dead Ball situation this season? Penalty probably will be Berbatov.

Went and asked Speedy in Pavillion. Apparently, they yet to receive the approval sticker that need to stick on the box so that's why they are not selling our Season Review 08/09 yet sweat.gif

Btw, do we need to bring along the match day ticket 2gether with the training pass? unsure.gif

Sparky got that wrong. Ronaldo is the current WPOTY while Teveth is nothing but a whiner.

QUOTE
Wayne Rooney needed 45 stitches in an emergency operation to save his ear .

The England and Manchester United star was hurt as he "larked around" with friends aboard his £150,000-a-week chartered yacht after spending all night out partying.

The striker, holidaying in St Tropez on the French Riviera, fell to the ground in agony with blood spurting from his left ear as crewmen raced to help him.

He was then rushed to shore by tender while an ambulance was called to the dockside, and taken the 10 miles to St Tropez hospital's surgery clinic after the drama at 8.30am on Friday.

Earlier reports had suggested Rooney, 23, had simply fallen and cut open his head.

But he told staff at the hospital his ear lobe was torn through while "larking about" with pals.

Just hours earlier, Rooney - on holiday at the chic resort with wife Coleen, who is six months pregnant - had been out drinking with male friends at the famous Quai Joseph nightclub.

He and two pals had only returned at dawn to the 42-metre yacht. At the hospital, with a worried Coleen at his side, one of France's top plastic surgeons, Dr Mathieu Piquet, carried out the delicate surgery required to sew back the lobe.

Rooney finally left the hospital five hours later, his head shielded by a baseball cap and a blue hoodie. His ear is likely to be bandaged for two weeks.

Btw, do we need to bring along the match day ticket 2gether with the training pass?  unsure.gif

Don't have to. Last year's Chelsea training didn't require the match ticket. And it's the same organiser.

Villa's Young would spurn Chelsea for Man Utd move
17.07.09 | Ian Ferris

Goal.com is reporting that Aston Villa's Ashley Young would prefer a move to reigning champions Manchester United and not Chelsea.

Chelsea have made a reported enquiry for the £25 million rated winger, but if United were to enter into negotiations for the 24-year-old, Goal.com claims that the player would prefer a move to Old Trafford.

QUOTE
United will arrive in Malaysia on Friday without two of their three new signings as Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan were not part of the squad who flew out.
It is understood that Ecuador star Valencia has had trouble obtaining the necessary visas while Frenchman Obertan has a groin problem.

United defender Nemanja Vidic has also not travelled due to an unspecified injury and there is speculation that the Serbia centre half's absence is transfer-related.
But his agent Paolo Fabbri insisted: 'No, no, no, no, no, no. Not at all. Absolutely not at all. There is absolutely no transfer for Vidic. We do not expect any transfer for the time being. No, he will stay.'

Ji-sung Park was also absent but Owen is expected to make his debut against a Malaysian select XI on Saturday evening.

vidc's agent is funny..so many no's...

See above. No reason for them to cancel it here, unless it really happen in our country. Then they might cancel it. But it's different in Indo compare to here. We're far safer.

Reds cancel Indonesia visit

Following the explosions in Jakarta – one of which was at the hotel the team were due to stay in – and based on advice received, the Directors have informed the Indonesian FA that the Club cannot fulfil the fixture in Jakarta on the 2009 Asia tour.

We are working on a revised itinerary outside Indonesia with the promoters, and will make a further announcement when these decisions have been made.

We are deeply disappointed at not being able to visit Indonesia and thank the Indonesian FA and our fans for their support.

Our thoughts go to all those affected by the blasts.

Ole's son? tongue.gif

QUOTE
United capture Norwegian starlet

Sir Alex surprised everyone in Kuala Lumpur by announcing United have signed a mystery Norwegian.

At the team hotel in Malayisa, the boss revealed he’s bolstered his squad with the capture of a promising 21-year-old. What he didn’t reveal, however, was his name.

“We signed a young player yesterday from Norway, who we’ve been looking at for two years,” Sir Alex said.

“We weren’t intending on signing anyone else after last week – we feel we have a full squad – but the situation accelerated to a point where other clubs started to make bids, so we had to decide whether we acted or didn’t act. We decided to act and he’ll be the last person we sign.”

When pressed for the youngster’s identity, chief executive David Gill intervened, explaining: “We haven’t officially announced it yet, so we’ll keep that to ourselves for now.

“He was signed yesterday and he needs a work permit. He’ll stay on loan where he is and we’ll look to bring him [to Manchester] in January.”
