last question before i go out to book my iphone 3gs..

is it all the same if i book it at MEP, Maxis Center, or Switch?

in terms of:
1) duration to wait before getting it
2) quality and warranty
3) servicing

Oh wai- so which shop other than Maxis KLCC accept prepaid plan?

Well in my opinion I think if u wish to get it earlier, perhaps you should just book at the Maxis centre, as watever stocks that comes in will eventually have to be at the Maxis centre before they distribute to other MEP or switch... Anyhow, still gotta wait.. Good luck =)

Maxis Center gets FASTEST, but biggest problem is customer service, because cannot contact Maxis Center directly (must go thru 123, and mostly they dont wanna connect you)

Switch/Machines have some offer (Machines used to have RM20 coupon, not sure if still have)

If you are the type that wanna call daily to check on status, go MEPs or Apple Distributors
Want to get it fast, go Maxis Center

All warranty is with Maxis, so MEP also claim warranty at Maxis Centers

Anybody has any news bout Machines getting stock of the iphone? so far they cannot tell me anything, all they can tell is that maxis still haven't give them stock, and they don't want to accept pre-order because they cannot promise customer anything. Would rather get from them because can get cc installment at 4% and can get machines membership.

Been waiting almost two weeks now and they haven't received any stocks at all yet.

I emailed Machines about 11 days back on 22 august.

I booked an iPhone 3GS 16G at the KLCC iPhone road tour on 12/8 with the prepaid plan. I've heard rumors that those who booked with contract will be given the priority. I'd liked to know if that is true.

Am I on the 2nd batch list or the 3rd? And is it possible to pin point a possible date to collect the phone?

It is true Maxis are giving priority to contact pre-book customer. We are ordering a lot of stock from Maxis and we hope can fulfill all the pre-book customer.

No worries, we will update customer immediately once we get the stock. No promising date given but according to Maxis not more than 2 months.

Darm.... how u guys get prepaid? i just got back from klcc maxis. they say still cant pre-book on prepaid yet ler.

I guess you have to book very early loh, before they closed the prepaid plan. But now, I think you can only just wait. Be patient lah. just because you booked earlier doesn't mean you'll get it sooner then the rest.

i would vote for maxis klcc, cause maixs is the one distributing the stocks, even Machines order from them.

btw dont get cheated by the maxis center. the looking at the point where u get ur phone. He say that if u buy postpaid plan is the same u can just change plan u just need to add extra 100 for secretary fee. but the truth is u buy prepaid u get 500mb free. And 500mb = RM30X12 month = 360+ 100 secretary fee = 460 u lost 460 in the process.... but darm idiot still cant book 4 hotlink yet darm it.

just got mine yesterday. booked on 8th august at Orange Ampang Point.

now having headache on how to transfer 700+ contacts from SE W960i. sigh!!

btw, u can book with prepaid plan but as usual, u will have to wait.. for how long? only God knows...

I think you can export contacts from SE to Google Contacts. I am not sure which program but there is one. Another way is to export from SE to Windows Contacts. Edit and correct entries there. Then you're good to sync it to Google Contacts. Then set iTunes to sync from Google Contacts. Done.

For me, I do it manually over Google Contacts. At least I can use my keyboard than typing on the phone.

just booked my 3gs 16GB white from Maxis Centre last nite.. i asked the Switch ppl and Maxis Centre ppl what is the different of booking from either one of them and they said:

switch:
the maxis centre ppl dunno about Iphone's function so we can teach u better..
but the period of waiting shud be the same no matter u get from us or Maxis Centre..

Maxis Centre:
we are the original distributor.. if u get from us, we got a record here and for future service, it is easier to come back to us.. and the duration of waiting suppose to be shorter also since the stock will reach us first..

since i need to do some plan changing (from supp line to iValue), i booked at maxis centre lor... i wonder they got how much commission if we book from them?

Sync ur SE contacts to microsoft outlook and then sync those contacts back to ur iphone. As simple as that.

hmm how to monitor the usage of the free data 500mb per month...is it the total of the send or the receive?

It didnt work using the import contacts from the settings??

i think sim card can't store so much of contact..LOL

Congratulations on ur new purchase! You can either transfer the contacts manually; as in copy them batches by batches onto ur SIM and then import the contacts from ur SIM to ur i3Gs or use the other methods as mentioned by other forummers.

Maxis will monitor it for U but U can always check via Settings/General/Usage. Data usage is calculated for both download + upload.
