I booked mine at a MEP nearby and they told me that they will give me a call when the stock arrive and did not promise me on when will it be. They just told me its about 2 to 3 weeks. Hopefully by 18th Aug they will give me a call.
BTW, i booked mine on 31July but they din accept any deposit from me.

I think they allow prebooking for hotlink plan but they prioritize those with ivalue and idata plan. Most prob they have extra they'll give it to hotlink prebookers. THats machines, maxis doesn't allow but some MEP do allow prebookings for hotlink plan just like machines.

Yeah, pretty weird to hear that they actually requested for full amount.
That is definitely not right.
Even at Switch, that sales assistant told me to pay 500 for the deposit, i din bother to do.
RM2490, maybe he's signing up contract or so.
Anyways, i've just called up the MEP where i booked mine at (which they did not accept any deposit from me).
They finally asked me to pay my deposit as i'm the 1st on the list right now.
Booked on 31st July, 16GB white.

nope, they din call me and asked for the deposit or so.
Expect them to call me but today i just call to make sure i'm still on the list as i had a feeling that i need to pay the deposit in order for them to get me my phone. So i'll be paying up my deposit tomorrow.
Who knows, maybe they have stock tomorrow and i'm able to collect it on the spot. =)

Lol! means u're staying near me coz i booked there too. i booked mine there but apparently they din accept any deposit from me when i booked. Maybe they're rushing to close their shop, went there at 8.30pm.
I'm fine with it since i'm the 1st on the list i should be getting it soon.

They did mention most ppl booked black.
Maybe they have limited stock for black.

Initially i din confirm with them wat plan i'm going for coz they told me that i can decide my plan later when i collect my know.

So... guess i'll just have to wait and pray for maxis to get their stock sooner.

There's this tips i got from my place where i booked mine, try to book 16GB white as most of the ppl is booking for 32GBs and 16GB black.
Maybe it's just for that MEP, not sure bout others.

Ofcoz maxis will still be selling 3GS.
They'll sell until the next gen of iphone release.

yes, they did mention bout getting the iphone 3gs with as low as RM30 which is the idata1 plan. Due to their insufficient stock supplies, they are trying to stop non-contract bookings. And so they did mention at the end of the plans:
"Orders are available only for purchases with i-Value and iData contracts."
Which means u can only order a.k.a book with ivalue and idata contracts for now. In the future when they have enough stocks for walk-in customers, idata1 and prepaid plans will be available.

yea... but i paid my deposit later. Coz they din mention bout the deposit while i booked earlier. When i call them up only they ask me to pay my deposit as i'm the next to recieve the iphone.

Went to the MEP where i booked me, they told me today they had 4 new units arrived at store but none of them is for me as all 4 are blacks. So i'm expecting next week that they'll have new stock again and hopefully they'll have white.

booked mine on the 31st of July, i'll only get mine when they have white 16GB during their next restock. Hopefully by next week.
