I feel that my iPhone 3G's battery life lasts a bit longer after upgrading to 3.0
However, I don't have 3G turned on all the time.

I not sure about you all, but i do think the upgrade OS did something to your phone.

I DO REALLY SUGGEST people with BATTERY problem, RESTORE THE PHONE AND START AS NEW IPHONE, INSTEAD RESTORE from backup. ( I have once before successfull JB due to some reason, my battey are draining like water, then i did start as new iphone, all goes right.)

WOHhooOOo guys i am very happy thanks to Shock. i follow his instruction and now its not draining...
usually with 10 hours of standby and 1 hour usage my OS 3.0 iphone no battery already.
but now my phone just drop by 3 level (not even half) after 10 hour stanby and 1 hour usage.
Now i am experimenting with all the thrid party application whether causing draining of battery or not.
so far MIM, activateMMS 2G is not causing the problem...just install statusNotifier, later i will install SBsetting see will drain or not
i think statusNotifier and sbsetting might cause draining but later will know liao
will try install the app store apps as well to experiment see which is causing draining.

3G browsing drains battery faster than playing a game!

Within 2 minutes it drops from 73% to 70%.

Incredible.

StatusNotifier already compatible with fw3.0?

SBSettings won't drain the battery la ... why do you assume it will? It's just an extension to SpringBoard, not a program running at the background.

Ok, I'm jailbreaking and unlocking, and restoring to a BLANK phone now as suggested by a forumer a few pages ago. The battery drain on my iphone 3G without wifi, screen at 50% is appalling! 5% loss in 1 hour, minimum!

Guys, try this out.

Disable/off these functions and use it whenever you need.

1) Push Notification
2) Location Services
3) EDGE
4) 3G
5) Wifi
6) Brightness set to half or less and off auto brightness
7) Mail - fetch new data set to off and Push Off
8) Kill all background apps by using Processes via SBSettings or use 4. Force Quit Program
9) Disable SSH if you install earlier for jailbreak iPhones.

*Charge your iPhone for atleast 4 hrs (USB cable or 3 pin plug)

Thanks for the pointers DG.

I've followed all of that except 3G as I need it to make calls for U Mobile. I didn't even install SSH after my jailbreak.

1) Push Notification - OFF
2) Location Services - OFF
3) EDGE - OFF
4) 3G - ON
5) Wifi - OFF
6) Brightness set to half or less and off auto brightness
7) Mail - fetch new data set to off and Push Off
8) Kill all background apps by using Processes via SBSettings or use 4. Force Quit Program - will try this nao
9) Disable SSH if you install earlier for jailbreak iPhones.

To enable Push, read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3576

Use SBsettings (get it via Cydia) and disable EDGE, 3G, SSH (if you installed) etc

For Mail, check under Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calenders
