I realize one more thing, when I try to browse at a very weak 3G/Wifi signal location, my batteries drain very fast. Not to mention the page took more time than usual to appear.
When I tried the same at a better signal location, the batteries last longer and this make me wonder if signal strength actually contributes to battery's usage? Anyway, I'm upgrading to 3.1.2 and hopefully I can save some money from getting a car charger. |

my battery life was terrible on the 3GS. I had to charge it twice a day. Frustrated, I took it to the Apple Store in Doncaster. Told them my problems, no questions asked and I got a shiny new 3GS

I updated to 3.1.2 on Sunday
Surfing on 3g battery dropped from 100% to 90 % in 25 minutes. Is this normal? Was the same I guess when I was on 3.0.1. Am on 3gs. Cam someone let me know if this is normal or do I need to do a fresh restore again? Ok 5 mins more and radio on the background while surfing now on 84%. That's draining fast This post has been edited by hussain: Oct 13 2009, 08:06 AM |

@hussain
No one can tell you whether it's normal or not. It depends on your usage pattern. You need to remember that energy usage while surfing on 3G depends on the signal strength. The weaker the 3G signal, the more power are used to get the data. It also applies to normal signal and not only for surfing. That's why it's suggested to turn off 3G if the signal is not strong. It would be abnormal if the battery drains fast if the phone just sitting idle and not running anything. |

QUOTE(btr999 @ Oct 15 2009, 12:33 PM) how to identify what apps are running on the background? normally after using apps, i just push main menu button back to home screen. If u are jailbroken u can use sbsettings and under processes u can kill all background apps but if not jailbroken press the power off button until the slide to unlock message pops up then keep pressing home button until back to main screen |

@btr999,
Every 2 days charge is pretty good, IMO. When I'm travelling on leisure, my iPhone batt lasts sometimes for the entire duration of the trip; of course, I don't answer ALL calls that come in, it's really just put on standby |

Hey guys, what do you think of my battery usage? Is this normal?
From 100% charge, after 7hrs 44 mins of standby and 4hrs 31 mins of usage turned (on wifi to access Mafia Wars for a while and to played a few games of TTR3 .. 3G was on for a couple of hours since disconnected from charge.. listening to MP3), the battery is now 67%. |
