Ok folks here is my story.I have solved my battery drain issue.i am on 2g.I hacked and installed mms for 2g via cydia and that was my problem. So i uninstalled that and also uninstalled winterboard as well and reinstall to remove the carrier icon.I also reset network settings once.I also uninstalled all push app and reinstalled im + and before using the app go to settings and off all push notification for im+ and also in the im + app as well go to push settings and set keep im services active on exit to off. Also kill all processes via sb settings often after apps usage, off location service, bluetooth and off push mail service as well, brightness set to half and off auto brightness Apple battery sucks....have to do all that just to get more juice. It limits the phone's capabilities i also SSHed in my iPhone and moved the APSD file from start up in: /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.apsd.plist and moved it into a dummy file somewhere else.. and reset the iPhone (iphone still worked). ever since after doing all that battery last more than a day. IF ALL ELSE FAILS OFF THE PHONE MUA HA HA Try it guys This post has been edited by hussain: Aug 5 2009, 09:57 AM

QUOTE(Jasie @ Aug 5 2009, 02:54 PM) Care to elaborate more on the bold text? I dont quite understand that part. Also, I did everything that jackdon and hussain did regarding turn those services off etc, still no luck. That's why I was wondering. Apparently com.apple.apsd.plist function is to ensure push works and always checks servers to find things to push.(This is what i read from another forum) so if u move it out from the launch daemons folder it will stop doing that. However newbies who do not know how to ssh u have to really read up how to do it and not mess the files in the phone or u may have more problems.... Added on August 5, 2009, 3:11 pmQUOTE(Jasie @ Aug 5 2009, 04:00 AM) Well, how do I check if anything is running in the background? Anyhow, I dont think that I was running anything in the background eventho I dont know how to check, lol . To check if any processes are running in the background install sb settings and use the processes icon to delete background apps This post has been edited by hussain: Aug 5 2009, 03:18 PM

I updated to 3.1.2 on Sunday Surfing on 3g battery dropped from 100% to 90 % in 25 minutes. Is this normal? Was the same I guess when I was on 3.0.1. Am on 3gs. Cam someone let me know if this is normal or do I need to do a fresh restore again?
Ok 5 mins more and radio on the background while surfing now on 84%. That's draining fast

QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Oct 13 2009, 11:49 AM) @hussain No one can tell you whether it's normal or not. It depends on your usage pattern. You need to remember that energy usage while surfing on 3G depends on the signal strength. The weaker the 3G signal, the more power are used to get the data. It also applies to normal signal and not only for surfing. That's why it's suggested to turn off 3G if the signal is not strong. It would be abnormal if the battery drains fast if the phone just sitting idle and not running anything. tks mate Added on October 15, 2009, 9:15 amOk lets kick this thread off again.3.1.2 is great but drains the battery like crazy, but of course i cant seem to put my phone down so i cant test on standby.Has anyone tested? Does blackra1n jb and pwnage 3.1.4 jb method effect the juice levels????? This post has been edited by hussain: Oct 15 2009, 09:15 AM

QUOTE(dinozilla @ Oct 15 2009, 11:09 AM) sure draining??? Mine act normal now.... listen music from 9 til now...100%->98% If i am not mistaken ipod usage doesn't drain the battery it's the same for me.Listening radio on 3g does Added on October 15, 2009, 12:25 pmQUOTE(btr999 @ Oct 15 2009, 11:23 AM) currently using iphone 3gs. i always charge the battery to full before going to bed(1-2am).the next day the % always drop to like 90% (alarm 8am). and after 1-2 hours the battery drop to like 85%, i only check the message once or two times in this period. so is it normal? For your case i am sure some apps are running on the background as it should not lose 10% on standby This post has been edited by hussain: Oct 15 2009, 12:25 PM

QUOTE(btr999 @ Oct 15 2009, 12:33 PM) how to identify what apps are running on the background? normally after using apps, i just push main menu button back to home screen. If u are jailbroken u can use sbsettings and under processes u can kill all background apps but if not jailbroken press the power off button until the slide to unlock message pops up then keep pressing home button until back to main screen

QUOTE(btr999 @ Oct 15 2009, 12:49 PM) i will try that thanks. i hope it works, everytime i unlock, and start using even sending a sms, the battery % will drop 1% then slowly 2-3%, i need to charge every 2 days thats quite frustrating. also go to settings and disable push notifications. That helps a lot This post has been edited by hussain: Oct 15 2009, 01:00 PM

QUOTE(xpresside @ Oct 17 2009, 07:47 PM) surfing and browsing is different??? Surfing using wifi is fine. If use 3 g only battery will drain. So far today excellent. From 6am did surfing on wifi watched inglorious ******* made some calls and SMS and battery life now says 52%. It's the best result I have had on an iPhone before. Bottomline 3g and gps will kill the battery
