Walk forward MK, HK, HK, MK, HK.
About the Ultra counter for DR, I didn't know. I just saw it was damn slow, thought of it and reacted.

What sticks are my fellow Malaysian gamers using?
Madcatz TE? I've heard plenty of bad stuff about Madcatz SE, but the TE supposedly solves this with Sanwa parts. Is it the stick among Malaysian SFIV buffs? Please advise on sticks. |

QUOTE(boogalogist @ Jul 30 2009, 12:39 AM) Urghh..this is what a lot of people tell me...turtle more. I frankly dislike turtling. I'm such a "in your face" player that I'll go on the offense almost every chance I get. I played against a REALLY REALLY good Ryu which I have a lot of problem beating. He then adviced me to play turtle. After I tried that for one day, managed to win matches against him....but I didn't feel like doing it again. I must have a certain mood, then only I will turtle. Else, I'll just rush that shit down! you speak my mind, my friend! And for the DR...I knew it the Ultra could beat it...just testing my luck on whether you knew or not. LOL. you speak my mind! screw turtle!! RRUUUSSSSHHHHHHH |

Unfortunately, Alvin....the SF4 mechanics do seem to favour the turtles.

QUOTE(boogalogist @ Jul 30 2009, 09:14 AM) Yeah, i concur... heheheTurtling seems like the way to go if you're only playing to win. But for casual matches, i think it's too much to stick to turtling style... With the exception of fighting zangief, turtle might be the ONLY way to go, unless someone can teach me a few pointers? |

Actually, I don't think that SF4 favours turtlers.
Rather, it favours safe play. Rushdown for no regard to safety gets you killed, turtling all day for no reason also gets you killed. Gotta play it safe playa~ |

QUOTE(Darkstalker @ Jul 30 2009, 10:50 AM) Actually, I don't think that SF4 favours turtlers. erm... would the style of hitting ur opponent for some damage and then running the whole 99 seconds considers turtling?Rather, it favours safe play. Rushdown for no regard to safety gets you killed, turtling all day for no reason also gets you killed. Gotta play it safe playa~ Coz some ppl will try to chip as little advantage they have and then run all the way. Sometimes, out of a 99 second round, 60 seconds is spent chasing the opponent. Man... and then i end up losing by KO and not time out coz i get frustrated and do silly stuff... hahaha |

^ That's definitely turtling.
See, depending on the character, different things are safe. For instance, turtling with Sakura is a pretty bad idea. Her "AA" isn't anywhere near as good as others and her attacks to maintain space and keep the opponent away aren't as good as guys like Honda or Blanka. You're gonna have to rely on getting in close and forcing the opponent to react badly. |

meh complaining/ranting/etc about turtling is going to do any good to no one. if everyone is playing rushdown style, that gotta suck too. there are ways to deal with any style out there, all comes down to your knowledge of your character, matchups, execution and all the obvious stuff.
anyway just chasing blindly someone who runs away is just as silly as running away, you should plan better than that |
