as far as i know all BRD, DVD, CD  are all prepacked in speedy, (mean they have to insert in their anti theft security barcoding),when you pay, they will remove the barcoding inside.

actually, for testing, very much depends on the sales or cashier attiude,
so far they tested Cd's for me, as for BRD's havent tried, as they have no BD Player....haha

seriously, i think shouldn't be a problem

then if you found the place they allow to open the BD and try pls let me know..
i can go there test without buy. whistling.gif

FOB = Freight on board

CIF = Cost, Insurance and Freight. But, I thought this term is obsolete. New is C&F, right?

I was going to order BD Celine Dion: Live in Vegas thru US Amazon but noticed it is for Region 1.
Just wondering if it's playable with PS3(Malaysia)?

Those bds sold by speedy at Jusco (Kinta city) are different from their US releases. For example the backcover of  Qos is different from their us counterpart. I think it meant for HK mart. Not all bd sold by them are from US. Most of them are for HK and UK mart. David Foster: Hitman and Micheal Bubble: Caught in act bds sold by them are manufacture in EU. I heard the one sold by Amazon US are different from Speedy. Heard the PQ and AQ are better than speedy one. Don't know how truth is it? hmm.gif
*
I dunno whether this helps... it's easy to identify Region A US release: there's a white sticker (wif barcode & title) at the top of almost every casing except boxsets. Well I guess most will know the UK/Europe's Region B release.. the thicker casing & the super-duper UGLY ratings logo on the cover! tongue.gif

$PEEDY sold mostly Region A Asian releases (maybe from HK?) and this comes WITHOUT the top sticker. The other way to look at it is the alternate languages and/or subtitles option will consist mostly of Asians rather than Spanish, French etc. The other clue is, there's a white empty box at the backcover where a barcode supposedly to be placed...

But one thing good about what $PEEDY is selling on their rack is that we're assured that those titles ARE region-free (unlock) and/or playable on our Asian BDP or PS3! nod.gif (I'm referring more towards the UK ones actually...)

Unlike DVD, Blu-ray from US shares the same region code (Region A) as Malaysia's... and other S.E.A. countries. So it is safe... nod.gif

DARN, Amazon really have to change the way they're labelling their BDs description la... keep using "Region 1" instead of "Region A"... very confusing la they... doh.gif

Dulu punya Projector all use 3 guns (3 bulbs ) if you can recall ... think its Red, Blue,Green which cost a hell to replace the bulbs ( bulbs have life span ranging from averagely 6 to 8 thousand hours ) and ansi lumens very low, ( you need the darkest room for best PQ )

sekarang, new techno ( 3LCD projection Technology ) all using single (bulb) gun technology to merge the 3 colours (red, blue, green) ansi lumens ranging from thousands to 10's and above,

This technology you also can view it under lighting conditions

like offices they use DLP (very high ansi lumens) for multi media presentations and Home theater the 3LCD DLP projector also

Sad to say, the 3LCD projection TV are on a dying trend (already Discontinued) Y....Y....&....Y cos, when you mention TV .....
every household has a tv and ppl use it as the only means of entertainment for Astro, RTM 1,2,3, TV3,8,9, NTV7,DVD...... so averagely it is some 10hrs a day..... just imagine how fast you need to replace the bulbs. thats y ppl prefer LCD TV which can last them 10 maybe 15yrs or till next technology change,

unlike 3LCD projection TV, the bigger brother 3LCD projector is mushrooming, cos ppl just use it for DVD's & BDR's in dedicated rooms. just calculate the viewing hrs.....bla bla bla ......GotIt !!!!!

no doubt...... i still say 3LCD projection/projector is still the best, ( guess what the reviewers' of bluray.com is using for review ) Reviewers are not ""dungu""

guess what our taikor htkaki using........ hehe ....>>>> HD65 <<<< biggrin.gif

There has been some titles where the different regions use different encodes (AVC vs VC1) and different audio streams (lossless vs lossy). There has been goods and bads from both regions. This is because of the different companies that release the movies in different regions.

This site might have the details of the different regions and different encodes

from the LD days, correct me if i am wrong..
Region 1 all wide screen, NTSC format .... Rest using 4:3 and Pal

remembered my !st ori DVD....ahem...! Air Force 1... Bought from speedy, it came prepacked with a Double Sided (yup u hear me correct..Double Sided), widescreen on one and 4:3( fullscreen ) on the other. An extract from the box ""side A is a WIDESCREEN VERSION and preserves the original 2:35:1 theatrical aspect ratio. Side B is a FULL SCREEN VERSION and is re-formatted to fit your TV"" damn it !!!' the words re-formatted to fit your TV simply means we in 3rd world countries is very backward still using 4:3 format, on the other hand they are very generous/business oriented, still care for us.... ( or JUST care for their $$$$ ... haha )
can attach a pix if requested ( seriously its very rare i think )

Widescreen has the edge on AP & PQ

NOW... Masa sekarang. Region A or 1 comes with minimum language (as mention by bro moviebuff ) the worse is asian version (redubbed with Chinese sub's) do you think after remastered the quality is better????
but cant blame, many asians prefer the chinese subs... smile.gif and didnt know they have substituted PQ & AQ for that.

Further to add

the best productions companies are from US

LD time, most Tv is 4:3, so fullscreen or widescreen up to personal preference.. cos use 4:3 TV display 16:9 widescreen also come out very small... and lost lots of horizontal line resolution... 30% of the video bandwidth used to store top and bottom black lines..

when got 16:9 TV, (before HD format) widescreen PAL reg 2 UK DVDs prefered leh.. cos higher resolution albeit lower framerate.. brows.gif

Haha... hey, I still own that Air Force One R1 dvd myself... if you really compare the two aspect ratios of this movie, the 4:3 one is actually not "pan & scan" like most other releases at that time but an "open matte" instead; so no "re-formatted" was actually done.

Anyways, almost 50% of the dvd market have the dual aspect ratio option back in the days because even in the US, they're still using 4:3 CRT TV. Well at least better than having a "flipper disc" dvd where you have to flip the disc over halfway through a movie to continue watching (like Laser Disc) !!!?! rclxub.gif I own like 4 flipper-disc dvd: The Pelican Brief, Se7en, Universal Soldier & Stargate.
