@setoyo,
Apparently the colours are warmer; or different. No issues with yellowish tint on mine.

this depends on the batch IMHO.

my friend's 3G (from hong kong) has a slight yellow-ish tint (a bit blur looking) whilst my 3G (SingTel) is more crisp.

but that doesn't mean it is faulty.

True, doesn't mean its faulty.
Try using it for some time and it the colors will turn normal.

Initially there was a slight difference between my iPhones,
But it's not anymore.

Correct me if I'm talking on a different issue.

i think "it turned normal" because your eyes got used to it.

because when i was comparing my previous 3G and 3G S, i noticed a warmer colour as well, but after a while, i felt like i was acclimatised with my 3G S (confusing it with my 3G)

Looks that way b'coz of the anti-oil/finger print new filming on the screen. Its just fine.

huh? that's just plain nonsensical.

that yellow-ish tint occurred way back since the 3G era.

i also forgot to mention that, my flatmate's 16GB 3G S (which obviously has that so called layer as well) doesn't pose such a problem.

I am not refer to THAT kind of tint that you had in mind. That will be definitely a defect. But I am refering to the 'difference' in the colour temperature.

Please read this review and cut out with the 'nonsensical' comments. Unless you are claiming to be the resident expert in all things iPhone.

And besides, this is off-topic on registrations, bookings n collections.

that is fine. this thread covers general OS 3.0 and 3G S related issues. hence we can discuss about this.

i wasn't referring to the temperature or suggesting they were faulty per se. i was referring to the general yellow-ish tint

very simple comparison.

comparing the 3G; my SingTel with my friend's hong kong unit (hers has this yellow-ish tint)

comparing the 3G S; my optus unit with my friend's direct oz unit (mine has the yellow-ish tint this time)

and check my post above, i never said it was faulty (i just said it may differ in batch types)

this is my second 3G S unit (my first one had a loose volume button) and both units also were slightly yellow-ish.

@fuiyo,
Yes Ur absolutely right - screen colour differs due to many reasons; also calibration of screen cannot be absolute hence U see a little different in the many units U view. Usually when U compare colour, U will notice a difference; whether it's the i3G with i3G or i3GS with i3GS or the i3G with i3GS.

If U've been following the thread, nokia2003 has been using the i3GS for over a month now - tongue.gif

@ferricide,
I don't think the warmer colours or this yellowish tint you're referring to has anything to do with the oleophobic coating - in any case, that coating is transparent smile.gif

@nokia2003,
U can afford to keep it if U want but what's the point, seriously?!

Dissatisfaction with Maxis and collection of i3GS shouldn't be discussed here.

Let's hope that Maxis will do something about the delay. Say free 500 SMS or something?
*
I didn't get a call nor an sms, then again.. mine's scheduled to be picked up on 1 August 09 (Sunday) @ Sunway Pyramid. I'd assumed that there will be enough 32Gb iPhones there.

Yea, I wonder with all this delay.. would we get any compensation?
They should actually. But whether they will honour it, has yet to be seen

urmm, but even the difference in colour temperature does not have anything to do with the oleophobic layer on the screen in the first place. and please, this is a forum for discussions. let's be nice to each other alright? smile.gif
