QUOTE(infinity1613 @ May 28 2010, 11:29 AM) Hi, i am driving a Gen2 1.3 A(2005 registered 2006) model. the power is jz below adequate (but if driving alone is ok..full load is a no no)...anyway, i would like to ask 2 things. 1)10w40 is standard if not mistaken...i've tried torqnm 0w30...engine feels lighter but higher speeds engine starts roaring like no tomorrow...currently using jtx 15w50...low end abit sluggish but cruising is abit better....1. What grade of engine oil should i use? different ppl tell me different things. a) Gen2 piston is very heavy, thus should use thinner oil b) If use thinner oil, the engine gives noise, thus need to use thicker oil which functions as dampers at the same time. So, which 1 is correct? currently, i use semi-synthetic oil 10W 40 (if i am not mistaken la...) 2. Tyre size. the stock size for Gen 2 1.3 is 185/55 R15. Tyre shop recommend me to change to 195/50 R15. Read in some forum, saying 195/55 R15 also can. So, which 1 is more suitable? what are the effects on Fuel consumption, handling, etc?? Thanks!!! 2)u can use 195/55...u have better traction on the road as the width is larger to ur current tyre...u can use 195/50...i presume the shop ask u to use parada...nice during dry but gone case la if wet...fc depends on ur right foot...the lighter the foot, the better.... |

stock tyres for 1.6 version is 195/55/15
for 1.3 , if u change to stock tyres gen2 1.6 is ok..more stable..but ur pick up will decrease a little bit.. ron95 sholud be ok..i think u slightly will feel dffrnt compare to ron97.. but if u have more money...go for ron97..for ur enjin |

QUOTE(infinity1613 @ May 28 2010, 02:21 PM) thanks BridgestoneRE711 for yr reply.. drop in filter is the highflow filter, ur original filter , engine air intake filter. sorry, i am noob here, wat is drop in filter?? tat's y i was thinking i should stick with the stock 185/55 R15 tyres..but it think the tyre shop recommend me other size coz it is difficult to find the size...coz mostly i see 185 tyres are for 14inches rims.. the drop in means it is drop-in only, no need modify. something like plug-and-play in automotive term. u just replace the ori one with the high flow one, better airflow will gain slightly mroe power. |

What grade of engine oil should i use? different ppl tell me different things. a) Gen2 piston is very heavy, thus should use thinner oil b) If use thinner oil, the engine gives noise, thus need to use thicker oil which functions as dampers at the same time. Thanks!!! if u use thinner eng oil, like hazril said the engine would make noise at higher rpm...anyway different engine different characteristic based on how u maintain the car over the years...for general semi is enough... 2. for standard 1.6 engine, the tyre size is 195/55/15...195/50/15 gives better stability because the sidewall is thinner so during cornering the tyre will have stiffer walls and it would not bent(is that the correct term???) and increase chance of oversteer/understeer...but remember 50 n 55 series not much different...maxxis ma-z1 oso got 195/50/15 in case u r interested... thanks shazmn!
yeah, i know the standard for 1.6 is 195/55...but i am driving a 1.3 version...so, the standard is 185/55...i prefer to stick to the original 185/55 R15...but it seems it is difficult to find the tyre size (or the tyre shop lazy to find..haha)... |

do u guys experience dried rusty marks (i assume it was watery rust and dried the next morning) on your disc brakes of Gen 2??
Mine gives such marks especially after heavy rain..sometimes, the rust sort of stuck the brakes, where when i start my car in the morning, it gives a loud crack before allowing the car to move..as if the rust from the discs join the brake pads, thus causing the loud crack when force is applied.. |
