Hi, i am driving a Gen2 1.3 A(2005 registered 2006) model. the power is jz below adequate (but if driving alone is ok..full load is a no no)...anyway, i would like to ask 2 things.
1. What grade of engine oil should i use? different ppl tell me different things. a) Gen2 piston is very heavy, thus should use thinner oil b) If use thinner oil, the engine gives noise, thus need to use thicker oil which functions as dampers at the same time. So, which 1 is correct? currently, i use semi-synthetic oil 10W 40 (if i am not mistaken la...)
2. Tyre size. the stock size for Gen 2 1.3 is 185/55 R15. Tyre shop recommend me to change to 195/50 R15. Read in some forum, saying 195/55 R15 also can. So, which 1 is more suitable? what are the effects on Fuel consumption, handling, etc??
Thanks!!!

thanks BridgestoneRE711 for yr reply.. sorry, i am noob here, wat is drop in filter?? tat's y i was thinking i should stick with the stock 185/55 R15 tyres..but it think the tyre shop recommend me other size coz it is difficult to find the size...coz mostly i see 185 tyres are for 14inches rims..

thanks shazmn!
yeah, i know the standard for 1.6 is 195/55...but i am driving a 1.3 version...so, the standard is 185/55...i prefer to stick to the original 185/55 R15...but it seems it is difficult to find the tyre size (or the tyre shop lazy to find..haha)...

do u guys experience dried rusty marks (i assume it was watery rust and dried the next morning) on your disc brakes of Gen 2?? Mine gives such marks especially after heavy rain..sometimes, the rust sort of stuck the brakes, where when i start my car in the morning, it gives a loud crack before allowing the car to move..as if the rust from the discs join the brake pads, thus causing the loud crack when force is applied..

While driving, do u guys shift to neutral to let the car move with its momentum while u r nearing a traffic light or place that u need to stop??
eg: U r moving at about 60km/h. the traffic light is about 200metres in front of u and it just turned red. so, u shift the gear (automatic transmission) to neutral and let the car move with its momentum up to where u r supposed to stop.
is this advisable??will it spoil the transmission?? at the same time, will this allow us to save some fuel??

QUOTE(TUV-hyperstar @ Jun 5 2010, 07:30 PM) eh guys, question. when i was driving my gen.2, while i making a right turn at junction, i stop, release brake pedal slowly to go out the junction, and i can hear some "graak graak graak" sound. it only happens when i doing slow right turn. is my drive shaft already wear and tear? how much to replace one? yeah, i've experienced that too...anything that can be done??

When idle, our steering tends to vibrate right?at that time i can hear sumting like 2 metal plates vibrating/hitting each other. yeah, y does the steering vibrate when the car is idle, and stop vibrating once the car is moving??

3yrs is more than the battery worth..better change it ASAP..normally, when a battery is weak, u'll face problem at night, and normally not at home..coz at night, when u r driving out from home, u switch on the headlamps, which uses the battery..and when u reach your destination, your battery charge will be too low to allow the engine to start..so, when u've done all your stuff, and ready to go home, that is when you can't start your car...
i've jz changed mine 2 days ago..used for 2years ++ .yokohama maintenance free also..RM250..
Added on August 29, 2010, 11:13 pmbtw, how often do you guys change the atf??

how often do u guys service your brakes??i've done once on my old wira (all wheel are disc brakes)...coz the rear brake jammed...was driving until smoke come out..haha.. anyway, the way the workshop service..they use a pump to pump out the brake oil through the rear brakes...then pour a new brake oil inside and pump it out through the rear brakes again to flush the tubes connecting the brake oil reservoir (in the bonnet) to the rear brake..then fill in the brake oil till full.. haven't done it on my gen2...already 4 years..

Hello, Selamat Hari Raya everyone!! I'll be talking about something not so Gen2..haha...
I've driven my friend's Honda Civic 1.8 on a Highway recently, and i find that the steering has a strong tendency to move back to the straight (centre) position whenever i turn the steering (for lane change or to follow the road curve). I find it not very natural, as if it is resisting to turn. the steering feels heavy when it is not in the straight position.
I still feel our Gen2 handles better. what do u guys think??

QUOTE(rifles @ Sep 16 2010, 09:58 AM) i have no idea how to check??any recommended workshop that can check entire car? to check leakages, put a piece of large cardboard below your car overnight. the next morning, take out the cardboard, c if there's any liquid/oil on the piece of cardboard, and if yes, locate the place of leakage.
