ze522 made in indonesia sux big time. wet traction and grip is worst.
yokohama ar01 which is more expensive by about 20 bucks will be a better buy.

why not try the lenso rims... or advanti... quite ok... i just booked 1 set of Advanti Storm Light Weight version, 4.9kg for 15"... u can try look for it...
*
4.9kg for a 15" is quite lightweight. was it a taiwan or thai made?
i always pair a lightweight rim with heavy tire like re-001.
btw, lenso and advanti is not really my cup of tea. so far, i've only changed between oz racing variety, advan rc2 and 5zigen proracer.
but kinda tempted with the mugen gp wheels after a friendly run with a type-r a month back.

do you happened to know any kumho or federal tire dealer in kl area?

bro, you can't expect much from CC5 as it is at the lowest category in tire ranking (comfort)...
you have Comfort, Comfort Premium, High Performance, Ultra High Performance, Extreme Performance, Max Performance...

Comfort - CC5
Comfort Premium - Michelin Primacy, Continental CPC2
High Performance - Falken 912, Continental CSC1
Ultra High Performance - Hankook V12, Bridgestone RE001, Toyo T1R, Yokohama S Drive, Kumho ESPT, Goodyear GSD3...
Max Performance - Michelin PS3
Extreme - Toyo R1R or R888, Yokohama AD07/08

(Model is general base on categories, it depends the availability of your size...)
RE001 is expensive then or even PS3 and AD07/AD08... if not mistaken ur size is 195/50 R16 or 195/55 R15... what is ur size...
for 195/50 R16 you have limited choices... if not change to 205/45 R16 for better choice...
you can use PS3 actually which is good enough for most people... of course you heard mix results for PS3 coz some ppl used to Max/Extreme Performance Categories which give them maximum grip in dry but when they change to PS3 it does not gives them the grip they wanted but in wet, PS3 tops most of the Max performance tires where it give you good wet traction... and it gives you a lil comfort too, which the noise of the tire is minimal...
if you want value for $$$ then Hankook V12 might be good for you but it only available for 205/45 R16 for 16" size...

FYI a good 16" tires will cost you above RM300/pc, RE001 and PS3 is over RM300/pc... so if you are looking for value i highly recommend you the Hankook V12 (as you prefer to maintain the comfort), then Kumho ESPT or BF Goodrich
replaced AD07 with AD08 already... his size will not be cheap...
BTW ur ranking is good... AD series is good but it is pricey... RE001 and PS3 is nice but not really cheap too...
it is Certis...
no prob... cheers...

Hi michael9413,

thank you for your elaborated reply, it is much appreciated.

My tyre size is 195/55 R15 and I don't intend to change tyre size.
Also, the tyre ranking is very very helpful and i'm quite surprised that CC5 is at its lowest ranking. Although I know that it is not good for spirited driving, the neo is still quite stable with CC5. Seriously, I think I have experienced the limit of the stock tyres more often than the car itself. LOL.

You rank Michelin PS3 at Max Performance which is quite good. The way I see it, Ultra HIgh Performance is better than Max Performance?
You guys are well informed, I did some research and the AD07 is replaced by AD08. Apparently, it enjoys great reviews. BUt I don't know what is the price. I tried searching the tyre price list but to no avail. Any idea?

From how things look, I'd go for PS3 and or AD series...

well i don wanna spend too much on the rims and neglect the tires as well as if anything happen on the roads i will not be that heartache... u know la... the road is really Malaysia Boleh...
if you refer back to the price list thread i attached on the post #2058... from there i see Klang and also USJ19 i asked from a shop just behind City Mall (Digital Mall previously)...

well AD series is extreme category but all tire in the category are not good in wet coz of their design...
if you want a all rounder which will not limit your wet speed to 80km/h then take PS3 for safety... 2ndly if you want to save more $$$ then you might be interested on V12... frankly speaking, the difference of PS3 and V12 is not really big bit the pricing is 3 PS3 equal to 4 V12... V12 gives you better comfort than PS3 but the handling is not as sharp as PS3... grip wise also it does not loose out by a big margin...

I'm using PS3 on Vios '05 (195/55 R15) but previously on V12, now the old V12 swapped to SEG ride...
i booked myself a new 15" and V12 (195/50 R15) for my old toy... i need better comfort so i need to compensating it with tires coz my old ride is a lil on the stiff side...
my parents is using the SEG they feel the V12 is nice also... previously it is on PP2, the sidewall is hard so the ride is a lil harsh... by using V12 it feel much nicer especially when we go over those bumpy stretch...

it depends to your needs...

BTW the price for AD08 for our size is over RM300 as i known of, so it is out of my list coz more than RM300/tire and in wet you need to drive more carefully... that is what i hate... once it rains and the road is wet u need to becareful coz the anti-hydroplaning of the tire is not good...

others tires which is not that good is Bridgestone MY01 (traction B - it wet grip SUX...), Yokohama A Drive (AA01) or A Drive R1 (AR01), Dunlop D01, Falken 552 and some others (traction A)...
when you buy tires try to look or Traction rating at AA... which is the best...
Traction is rated by international testing standard, which is the stopping distance on Wet Road... the short the distance the higher rating is it... (Best) AA > A > B > C (Worst)

wao michael9413, then V12 is good enough for me too.
Last time Teik meng quote me RM320 for PS3 195/50R/15
V12 should be around RM200

We should take those made in Thailand? and within 1 year old stock?

Michelin tires mostly made in Thailand now... smile.gif
try to take those stock below 1 yr... actually if you don mind 2 yrs also no problem as the tire life & warranty is 5yrs...
coz mostly all the higher range of tires will only last about 40k km, which comes to around 2 yrs time if you drive around 20k km per year...
i don mind taking 2 yrs tires at a lower price, coz it will wear off after 2 yrs...

it depends on personal preference... smile.gif

try to talk to them, if you have tires for trade in should not be any problem... PS3 at that size should be below RM250.... try to talk to others shop for pricing compare...

actually PS3 is not supposed to be in max performance...

tested out S1evo, re001, csc1 and ps3 in sepang... sad to say, PS3 is hopeless in grip... even the useless csc1 has better traction then PS3...
the flex from PS3 is just too extreme....
for normal drive yes it should be fine but for out right driving, sorry i will not go for PS3... (luckily for me PS3 dont have my size or i will be b****ing about it every single day) tongue.gif

yes if you say track use they will not choose those you listed la... haha...
those ppl will get R1R, R888, 595 RSR or others Extreme tires... my fren on R888 195/55 R15, his ride is bumpy and drive slow when rains... well that is not what we wants during normal street driving lo... smile.gif

if street use PS3 is good enough... of course u need to pair the tires with ur suspension also to get the ride quality you want... different tires, different characteristic...

so still depends what is you expectation on your ride lo...

*seems u always praise RE001, will ask the shop whether can change my reserved tires to RE001 or not tomorrow...
then will make a decision which to put on my old ride...
wanna see how it fairs with my old toy setup coz the suspension setup is a lil stiff thats why i choose V12 but not PS3 as my tires... and of course i'm more interested to see how to goes on the wet too, coz it's traction rated at A only... smile.gif

because RE001 seems to take alot of bashing with regards to grip in track... so i decided to try it out and for me, i would say the grip exceeded my expectation... heck i would even dare say v12 has better traction then PS3 in track...

so for its price, the grip is worth it... just that RE001 wears out very fast... i got to change a new set after 6 months of using it...
not really recommended for a daily ride...

and don't believe the rated traction by how many A's they have...
case in point... u can have 20A1 in SPM/college/uni but you don't know shit...

well is it PP2??? there is no PS2 in this size... i'm using this size also...
for Kumho the grip is not up to PP2 standard... handling wise too... it is just a lil more comfort than PP2...
for cheaper alternative you may want to try out Hankook V12, cheap and good...

my car stock tire is using 205/55/R17 (CBU Japan car), which is very rare to get locally. Based on tire calculation that can be found on the internet, the nearer size would be 215/50/R17, without sacrify comfort and FC much.

In LYN Tires Price List (maybe not updated) only 2 brands listed:

215/50/R17
Goodyear LS2000 - RM370 Quick-Save
Goodyear F1 GSD3 - RM385 Quick-Save

seems that my options are very limited. Anyone can advise other brand with the same profile (215/50/R17)? icon_rolleyes.gif

erm 300-400 each for that size is very little and basically limit your choice towards bottom of the barrel type...
