u on 1mbps streamyx also? are other streamyx 1mb users also experiencing this? sad.gif

torrent traffic throttling seems likely to be area based, not malaysian wide. nod.gif

Same here at B.B.Bangi, past 2 years no throttling but last week suddenly slow to a crawl, uTP connections totally out, I get a better chance forcing TCP connection but still slow, I think TM is trying to squeeze out more bandwidth for more unifi customers. shakehead.gif

Having the same problem as well. 1MB streamyx user in Ampang. The throttling only started this week. I can get speeds up to about 70-80kB/s during the day, but it's not stable and tends to fluctuate quite a bit. The throttling hits hard from the evening until morning, getting no more than 20-30kB/s. Considering how much we are paying for our 1MB, TM should be throttling UNIFI users, not us.

From FAQ page: http://www.tm.com.my/ap/personal/internet/.../Pages/faq.aspx

38. What is Peer-to-Peer (P2P)?
Peer-to-peer is a type of Internet network allowing a group of computer users with the same networking program to connect with each other for the purposes of directly accessing files from one another's hard drives. P2P speed of download and upload depends on customer network cloud. It will be faster if the seeders (person who share their files) are in the same local cloud as the leechers (person who download the files). Example of P2P applications that are commonly used by Internet users are Kaza & Bittorent.

Streamyx maximum download and upload speed is not guarantee for P2P or any international traffic connection. TM’s policy had restricted and enforced the P2P regulations to avoid heavy congestion for Malaysia Internet cloud. Currently P2P is consuming greater bandwidth than other normal Internet applications (e.g. web browsing) for Malaysia’s local internet cloud.

40. Why do I experience slow P2P even though there are lots of peers available?
P2P application uses a lot of bandwidth and can significantly reduce the connection speed of other users especially during peak hours. To ensure optimal broadband experience for all users, TM has imposed prioritization during peak hours that would restrict throughput for P2P application.

41. Why TM is offering unlimited packages & at the same time limits the amount of traffic?
Unlimited means that there is no time capping for user to access to the Internet and it does not mean that user can download/upload an unlimited volume of data.

No comment, as more users, the network administration will be more complex. Try call 100 to file complaint.
Anyway, I did felt the youtube streaming not consistent, especially in peak hours. After 12 mid-night, I watch youtube streaming will be smooth. Quite a bit of frustration with this. But, this is the best provider, so far.... for without Unifi area.

Thanks, but any long-term streamyx torrent user is already well aware of TM's policies on throttling P2P, even before it became official. The reason why people are highlighting it now is that implementation has been sporadic and inconsistent in the past. Most of us also want to confirm whether throttling is happening across the board or in selected areas.

i am quite pissed at Unifi aka TM now... auto billing not working, then force me to pay online...

then their payment server no response half way so i dont get acknowledgment of payment, but they charged me 3x, which equivalent to RM900++... so asked for refund but they insist their procedure takes >2 months...

so who is gonna pay for my CC interest for 2 months?! so wat kind of action i can take against them? filling complain report does nothing anyway...

If you have eBanking you should be able to pay also. I use PBeBank and pay without problem. This is why I don't like using CC :s very risky. Later kena charge double, mati lah sad.gif

Anyways, my rant is still the same old shit. Ping to Singapore. A year ago, ping to Singapore was damn nice, 20ms (on games). Late last year it increased to 100ms for some very long time, now it dropped, 40ms but still I find it unplayable. Sigh. WHAT IS TELEKOM DOING? vmad.gif
