hmm... the sony 1.8 is way too expensive compared to what canon is offering, roughly rm350 for 50mm/1.8

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 14 2009, 12:24 AM) from what i remember (sorry not Alpha user) the A200 / A300 / A350 has that directional controller, the one at the AF button. The D-pad controls is still there. Just that you cannot shift the focus point quickly like you can on a200, 300 and 350. That's the major blow for the new cam.. Instead of making things intuitive, they've gone and create a more complicated interface where you need to access the Fn button to change even a simple thing like selecting an AF point. ![]() that's the change the AF point, right? after raist86 posted i go check out on A230..... ![]() that's like so stripped! so raist86, that's what you're saying right? don't have that directional control already. It's very very obvious that they are cutting cost on the a230, 330 and 380 (all based on the same body) by reducing the number of buttons to access each function. Now instead of a dedicated iso button, it's relegated to the D-Pad on the main body.. Added on June 14, 2009, 1:03 amEven my girlfriend who has a pair of tiny hands (compared to mine) found it hard to hold the a330 for long period of time.. Keep saying hand feels cramped.. millenia3000: The Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 EX DC is undoubtedly a very fun lens with good range. Some Sigmas are far more prone to gear stripping. I'd love to think that the 17-70mm is clear of gear stripping issues, but it's not - one unit in Boeing stripped there itself when somebody was going to buy it.
Dyxum's lens reviews will let you know if a lens is prone to gear stripping. The 17mm wide-angle macro of the Sigma is severely underrated. Honestly, the Sigma is sharp enough for me. Many claims of softness are actually due to insufficient depth of field at bright apertures... or in the case of the Tamron, focus plane curvature, meaning your focus plane is not completely flat at 17mm F2.8. marauderz: The F36 and F20 would be a low end flash and a compact flash (LOL!) SHOfrE3zE: Wah, I've shot that ceiling and escalator shot before! lj0000: Nice ceiling! raist86: Yes, the new series is not meant for anybody with an existing Alpha. Probably an honest response would be, "yeah, duh, you don't go from a Nikon D40 to a D40x you know." Other than the AF point selection, there are some things that are shuffled around that are easier or quicker to change. I'd say that the pros are stronger and the cons are stronger on the new bodies now. |

i think what he meant with the word DOWNGRADE is that the supposed replacement model is not as good as the one being replaced.

QUOTE(shootkk @ Jun 13 2009, 11:11 PM) Have you actually tried using the 24-70? I dunno about you but I find it kinda frustrating having the 24mm on the aps-c. It's not nearly wide enough. 18mm is ok. For aps-c I would love to have 16mm (i.e. 24mm on the FF). If you really do not mind it starting at 24mm then i guess it's ok. nah..im not gonna use it on apsc unless i got a uwa and i don mind the hassle of keep changing lens(which i dont like at the moment)...actually my a300 is holding me back for 2470..else i'd definitely get it if im using a FF..but seems like a 2nd FF camera would not b release anytime soon...guess i can only dream on my 2470 n drooling on my pillow(yea..imma sucker for constant aperture lens >.< ) |

Strongly depends.
There are many upgrades that the A330 has over the A300; - DRO+ is stronger and has a visible effect on pictures (the way it was with the A100) - the front dial is full-sized; the A300 front dial was smaller and more plasticky. The VG-B30AM battery grip had the full-sized front dial - high ISO performance seems to deliver a bit more detail (wait for the pixel-peepers to make an official statement) - autofocus accuracy with F1.4 lenses seem to have improved significantly - the icons for n00bs are much clearer - HDMI output (you might not think much of this if you're stuck to your computer every other hour, but if you ever plug it into a TV you will really like this) - the Continuous 3 or Continuous 5 shot feature, and support for infrared remote controls - error messages due to invalid combinations (Smart Teleconverter with OVF, for example) are now clear - a different 9 AF point layout - flash mode shows in viewfinder - comes with a supposedly sharper lens with closer focusing ability - SD and MS card support - much taller pop-up flash - buttons are no longer on the top panel (ISO/Drive) Then, the many downgrades; - no official battery grip support - no Kelvin WB setting - slower (apparent) way of changing AF points - no Infolithium battery percentage readout; instead it's in bars again - the hard-to-understand hand grip - no CF card support |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 14 2009, 02:55 AM) Sony VG-B30AM is officially for A200/300/350. RRP is RM750. Not listed anymore probably due to discontinuation of A200/300/350 This post has been edited by soulfly: Jun 14 2009, 03:03 AM |

ouhh ok. thanks. cos i went to SonyStyle the USA site (cos local site useless) and look at A200 and accessories, not listed there.
now that you mentioned, the useless site that's not updated actually has it! http://www.sonystyle.com.my/product/produc...yid=14&SSub=311 dayum. no wonder i thought i remember somewhere that it has BG, cos i remember posting before i want to get A300 with BG. edited : i blame the site for misleading me. wah... im half tipsy after a night full of party... had fun with my new tammy 17-50... albnok... i tried the 17-70 at YL just now and yeah... it is cool indeed... especially the really near MFD and its magnification ratio... i ended up buying the tammy 17-50 cos of the constant aperture and the fear of the 17-70's gear stripping issue... i'm rather satisfied with the 17-50, shall paly with it when i reach melaka tomorrow...

One thing holds me back from buying a Tammy is the rubber grip not durable enough! At least most of my friend who had a Tamron more than a year got the zoom grip loosening already.
