Yup, 35 cents + 55 cents. This year 105 cents total. Lastest profit figure down quite a lot, a bit worry for next year special dividend will be cut severely. Still at 50 cents dividend, it is 2x better than FD. It is free stock now if hold more than 10 years or so, the power of dividend. |

QUOTE(panasonic88 @ May 28 2009, 02:49 PM) that's why AdamG advised us to LONG commodities? It is a difficult catch right now. We don't know where the economy is heading, and situation of consumers and stimulus effort, recover is intact or not. That's why market is flat and nor moving much and stuck in tight range.which means, crude oil price will surging? will that bring benefits to plantations? Commodities surging lately is not due to demand picking up (instead demand is still in shrinking or flatting scenario) but due to speculation and hedging of cheap money around. Ordinary or plantation company will benefit if high price x high amount sales = total revenue. But you have high price but low amount of sales at the moment, then goodness of high price might not total benefitting the plantation company. You previously monthly sales is Rm1.00 x 10,000 items = 10K and with cost at 0.90, so profit 1K Now price become 2.00 but cost become 1.80 (due to oil price rising blar blar) and with loweer item sales of 5K unit, so you still make the same profit of 1K. So in this kind of scenario, company didn't benefit from the higher price, eventually share price might not move much. |

PKFZ, port klang free zone. First project supposed to cost only 2.5 billion, then 4.3 billion, then now they say need 12 billion due to interest rates.
Ong Tee Keat on hot stones because he supposedly try to delay showing the reports 2 weeks or 1 month back. |

QUOTE(omores @ May 28 2009, 03:20 PM) I still fail to comprehend, may be something wrong with the price qoute as we can't find any transaction done at 5.00 based on stock tracker activities. Lowest transaction done I can see from my side is 5.10, there is no 5.00 being matched. Or something wrong with the stock tracker? |

Lowest transaction done I can see from my side is 5.10, there is no 5.00 being matched. I clicked and clicked and refreshed the order status. Seriously, I queued for 50 lots of maybank at 5.00 to average up and increase my holdings cos i believe maybank will have good earning by next quarter. My average is 4.42.Or something wrong with the stock tracker? Now on my order status, unmatched quantity is 4000 shares. So that means I get 10 lots at below market price. |

KUALA LUMPUR: Government revises downwards GDP to between minus 4% and minus 5% for 2009 from earlier minus 1% to 1% after 1Q GDP shrank a worst-than-expected 6.2%.
On May 27, Bank Negara said the Malaysian economy contracted 6.2% on-year in the first quarter of 2009, the worst since the Asian financial crisis, as manufacturing output shrank sharply as exports and industrial production fell. Manufacturing contracted 17.6%, mining fell 5.2% while agriculture saw a 4.3% decline. Services also showed a decline of 0.1% but construction rose just 0.6%. News flash on edge. What this mean? Are they talking about overall GDP? So they say 2nd half would not recover as they say yesterday? Stupid la. |

If drop more, your ave is lower, if higher you dont miss the boat.Yes, its a good stock for long term speaking. Of course, don't put all eggs in one basket. So buy some TM, and have some in other defensive stocks that are capable of capital growth, reits for instance. |

Want to ask people who use technical analysis.
Is candlestick charting effective in predicting futures and individual stock prices? Or its more effective in futures? Or its more effective in individual stocks? Or same effectiveness for both? |

Candle + chart patterns + volume combi quite accurate. You can use oscillators + divergence for more precise entry and exit; depending on TF. You may also want to consider pivot points and SRs.

Actually, I have a theory that this reversal is good for those of us holding beta/penny stocks - i.e. not Blue Chip. This is because the recent run up to 1050+ was on the back (largely) of the Blue Chips and if the index drops and takes those back down with it, then the next rally may help those of us with beta/penny stocks rather than the premier counters.
Anyway, that's my excuse - and I'm sticking to it. |

QUOTE(cliffang83 @ May 28 2009, 04:08 PM) Better ask Adam that. I judge based on news and fundamentals, i have no inkling of tech charts. For me, mega sales shud be between 1020 and lower. But that's my opinion, anyhow I'm trying to average down bit by bit already as my stocks already drop 7% and more, but still no fish catching my bait. Added on May 28, 2009, 4:13 pm QUOTE(panasonic88 @ May 28 2009, 04:11 PM) can buy batch by batch, like what omores said. Yup, if a stock u've been watching has dropped quite a bit, start buying bit by bit lor. Tomorrow may drop somemore, so save more money to buy more tomorrow. 30%, 30%, 40% (more in front to ensure don't miss boat), or you can go 20%, 30%, 50% (lowest average price possible).today buy some, tomolo down again, buy some. so you wouldnt miss any rebound opportunity. QUOTE(cliffang83 @ May 28 2009, 04:14 PM) Ok better reply. Cos I had to check my post last night for this. But be worried only when relations become more strained. So far, the best possible news we can get out of it, is if the 5 countries involved with talks with Korea agree to let China take the lead. Now N. Korea screaming for attention. 1. Kim Jong Il is sick, needs to prove that N. Korea is still here and everyone else better know it. 2. N Koreans are going hungry due to all the sanctions. Even with the 1953 treaty, US and everyone else except China have been pushing them too hard. That's why the lastest nuclear test is so extreme and that they say the 1953 treaty is over. Provocation ma. It's a call for attention towards their plight. Risk/and signs to look out for 3. The line has been crossed. N. Korea sees no end to their plight ang go ahead with destruction. After all, they are a cornered country with nothing to lose. 4. If US still wanna play hardball and do something stupid. |

North Korean actually a bnkrupt state, only way to get cash is to threaten or frighten its neighbours into submission by giving food Aid or putting money in their pockets... so that Mr Kim can afford to buy a few more Mercs and travel the world...y this ppl luv war so much??? play PC Command and conquer- RED alert la, dun need to sac ppl life i think the previously when N.Koreans tested theuir nukes, the world markets were put in shock... but after so many threats (waving fist but no action)... more or less the market is immuned. |

QUOTE(David_Brent @ May 28 2009, 04:01 PM) Actually, I have a theory that this reversal is good for those of us holding beta/penny stocks - i.e. not Blue Chip. This is because the recent run up to 1050+ was on the back (largely) of the Blue Chips and if the index drops and takes those back down with it, then the next rally may help those of us with beta/penny stocks rather than the premier counters. I don't think so. Usually rally starts with blue chip, and ends with lousy counters. Then if unluckily market cannot sustain, lousy counters will go down very fast first.....follow by blue chip. Anyway, this is my theory only. But I remember a lot of times it is like thisAnyway, that's my excuse - and I'm sticking to it. |

I'm worried genting and resort might not be the one purchasing MGM. The recent shares transaction (sell) by Uncle Lim is v dodgy. I could nt sleep all evening and night thinking about it. Just hope for the best. Please refer to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/610474/+1100 This is just my theory. I could be very wrong. Also today the edge published roughly the same tots as mine, by this guy called Ang Kok Heng, who is chief investment officer at Phillip Capital Management, who wrote in Bloomberg "It's not easy for Genting or Resorts to take over MGM Mirage's venture in Macau because of their investment in Singapore. The Singapore Government may not agree, so the family has to come in on their own." I've changed my entry price for genting and resorts following the date before the announcement of the credit note to MGM by Genting and Resorts, as I believe a lot of ppl speculated on this share hoping for the acquisition. If Uncle Lim really underhandedly buys MGM privately, I know the share price will jump off a cliff. Again, I and Mr Ang Kok Heng could be wrong. |

Chances are Jtinter can afford to give out regular cap repayment (perhaps every 3 years), dvidend payment probably every half annually (mind u the dividend is no small amt as well). For monopoly businesses however...
i think its more of a question of how they take advantage of it, like say MAS whom had been sqeeuzing its customers ever since they were incorporated... Not until Airasia came in with guns blazing that MAS actually felt the heat to comepete with its rival. Hopefully TM will be the smater choice this time around. |

Added on May 28, 2009, 4:45 pm +2 Also, if I'm wrong and either genting or resorts did buy up the 50% oso: 1. Cash gone, lower NAV 2. Higher gearing, more interest 3. Operation costs balloons up, need to combine cost of two new casinos, marketing etc. 4. Need time to make profitable No rush for me to buy. But its my opinion... |

If wasnt for its star cruise impairment, net profit is actually up 3% Yup, Resort problem (at least for minority shareholders) is that with huge cash pile and billion of profit, minoirty shareholders are getting peanut dividend 2% yield or so, which is considerably low for a highly profitable and huge cash pile company. While it doesn't utilise the cash pile nor giving out as reward to the shareholders. Impairment cost just means previous investment being done at high cost while if it doesn't yield any profit to the company, then it just means wrong investment decision had been made. You earn and earn then one bad decision on investment can wipe out previous hardwork done. So impairment cost is still something to look at although it doesn't bleed the company cashflow or underlying fundamental. Don't get me wrong, Resorts is a good and profitable company, and a good stock until now. |

I dont believe locking away monies in a growth cter for any period longer than that, unless the dividends are substantial... but as more competitors come into to the market (in terms of products, service, etc...), saturation begins to happen.. its only a matter of time counters like this will eventually meet up with reality ... QUOTE(cherroy @ May 28 2009, 04:59 PM) Yup, but this is something I heard before back 15 years ago, when TM was at around 15+. I want to share my opinion about TM from the viewpoint of an investor, and a consumer since so many people like TM here.Something like that Must go for long term Monopoly business Surely profit blar blar. Long term shareholders still suffering after 15 years or so. May be not long enough, need to hold 30 years. Joking only. Not mean it is not a good stock or not or good for long term or not. Just some word familiar recall my memory. I feel that TM business, though is near monopoly at the moment, but it is still a commodity business. And commodity businesses don't enjoy huge margins. True they are near monopoly in the fixed line business, but they are nowhere near the leaders in the mobile and wireless arena. As a consumer, if not because of streamyx, I would not even bother subscribing the fixed line. I believe when it comes to voice communication, majority of us use the mobile phone instead of picking up the telephone. As mobile arena gets more competitive, and the wireless internet improves, I cannot find a reason for keeping streamyx and the fixed line subscription. I won't touch TM & Maybank. IMHO Tenaga & PLUS are better monopolies. Sorry if I offended anybody. Just want to share my opinion. This post has been edited by simplesmile: May 28 2009, 05:13 PM |

Some updates on Malaysiakini.
Audit: PKFZ cost ballooned to RM7.5bil May 28, 09 4:49pm PKFZ audit report has shown that the project outlay has ballooned from RM1.957 billion to a staggering RM7.453 billion since the project inception in 2001. According to the report prepared by PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PwC), the astronomical figure includes interest costs. Without interest, the project outlay stands at RM3.522 billion. port klang free zone pkfz audit"The original estimated cost for the land purchase and development works in 2001 was RM1.957 billion... (the) project outlay has escalated to RM3.522 billion as at Dec 31, 2008. "Interest cost of the deferred payments to KDSB (Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd) amounted to RM1.425 billion resulting in a total project outlay of RM4.947 billion. "PKA (Port Klang Authority) was unable to fund its obligations to KDSB from its own resources when the first scheduled payment was due in 2007. PKA secured a 20-year soft loan of RM4.632 billion from MOF, of which RM4.382 billion is available for draw down. "This loan would impose an additional interest cost of RM2.506 billion resulting in a total project outlay of RM7.453 billion," read the report that was released today. Other highlights of the report: 1. The land was purchased by PKA at a price of RM25 psf on the basis that the land was of special value, through the Property Evaluation and Services Department had valued the land at RM10.16 psf in August 2001. add: This is a difference between buying the land at 1.808 million and a mere 442 million 2. The report noted several weaknesses in the governance and project management. Add from the edge: Contracts were entered into on the basis of estimated amounts and without detailed building plans. The development agreement DA3 was entered into based on an estimated amount of Rm1 billion and without detailed plans. Development contracts totaling RM1.846 billion were all awarded to KDSB without competitive bids. Entire project completed in two years, contrary to JAFZI/TSG Master plan which recommended mixed development strategy. The strategy was a single phase for infrastructure works and multiple phases over eight years for the light industrial units (which represented 42% of total construction cost of RM1 billion under the JAFZI/TSG Masterplan). As at Dec 31, 2008, only 77 units out of a total 512 units of the light industrial units were rented. The report said that there had been failures to inform cabinet over several key decisions. State Government checks and balances were bypassed: Add from the edge: For instance the agreements were not vetted by the Attorney General despite the significant amounts involved and PKA’s lack of experience in projects of this nature;. Treasury guidelines on vetting of agreement by the Attorney General and approval of variation orders by MoF were not adhered to; Letters of support, which could be construed as guarantees, were issued by the Minister of Transports without MoF approval; and PKA did not adhere to MoF’s stipulation to issue government guaranteed bonds for the development of the project. The PKA board, as an important statutory body, was expected to demonstrate good corporate governance. PKA's apparent reliance on approvals by senior government offices such as the the Cabinet, Ministry of Transport and Prime Minister. While such approvals were important, the board still retained the overall responsibility to run PKA in a professional and sustainable manner. This would include the responsibilityto not enter into agreements which may threaten PKA's long-term financial viability. Meanwhile, the report lamented that many important decisions were made without the PKA PKFZ board's oversight. MACC report tomorrow Speaking at a press conference to release the report, Port Klang Authority chairperson Lee Hwa Beng said that he will lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency tomorrow. pkfz report lee hwa beng pc 280509Lee said that he was instructed to do so by Transport Minister Ong Tee Keat. "The transport minister has instructed me to lodge a report with the MACC tomorrow morning at 8am," said Lee. Lee said that the report was not aimed at anyone, and it was up to the MACC to act on the contents of the audit report. This post has been edited by omores: May 28 2009, 05:49 PM |

QUOTE(abin28 @ May 28 2009, 06:48 PM) bad news coming from US side tonight? N.korean going launch nuclear? adam's advice sounds scary. Trading volume was low the last few days, today is record low for a few months already. Malaysian data not good. US will have more news on GM, and will be releasing unemployment figures. Added on May 28, 2009, 6:50 pmsomthing is going to be very wrong, really dint see big volume lately, shark already left. GM and Chrysler having cut off biz with a huge amount of car dealerships will definitely cause unemployment figures to rise. After all the dealers will have no car to sell, especially those who only display either GM or Chrysler's cars. They will go out of biz unless they sign up with other car manufacturers. If they lose business, don't need so many employers. Plus tomorrow is a friday. |

Good evening everyone,
How was the bloodbath this morning.. you like it? Well, if you like this one, you ain't see nothing yet. Told you all to short, didn't I ? KLSE is full of sharks and this boat is sinking.. those holding on will be drown or eaten alive soon. Those who are smart, shorted would have made some. Now time for me to make some more money trading over at the NYSE... opening soon. Oil futures looks great! I love the smell of Oil! This post has been edited by danmooncake: May 28 2009, 09:14 PM |

buy stock also scare (afraid it will go down some more)
dont buy also scare it goes (miss the boat) sell to early afraid it will go up further and dont have patient to wait and go in on the high side. play contra average also scare it will drop further waiting for quarterly result ,dividen, capital repay etc also scare how many times it will go up and down in order to have profit or cut loss whether to cut loss or breakeven or average more ?? plenty of if hidden news have not pops out yet eg GM motors, North and south korea war, GDP going down etc. all this things will affect the market. what is the investing plan when it goes up or down? BUY / WAIT/ SELL /DONT BUY if u think the market will go up hold all stocks if u think the market will go down sell all the stocks. dont sell one and hold another bcos all shares will be red no exemption unless very lucky one, even blue chip This post has been edited by lowyat888: May 28 2009, 09:21 PM |

Don't let any remisiers catch you saying it's your remisier's fault lol. They will tell you that if you're old enough to trade; you're old enough to take the loss as nobody forces you to buy/sell. Always take what your remisier says will a pinch of salt and of course never ever let them be the one to tell you how and when to trade.

For economy data part, if not stimulus package, we won't able to see contruction sector up 0.6%, it could be more uglier scene or GDP number without stimulus package money.
Malaysia is export orientated economy, nearly half of the products made are meant for export, when overseas customers don't buy from you, you don't have large scale of domestic economy to absrob the impact. Even the like the size of China population and its domestic economy can't withstand the downfall of US demand, Malaysia with 25 million population surely cannot run away with it. So whether Malaysia economy turn better or not, it is not up to Malaysia on its own, it is global particular US is dictating whether the world economy can recover or not, so does China. What China needs to do now is transform from export based economy to internal demand based economy, which don't think short term wise can do it. But this should be China longer term target now. China only can lead the world to recovery if they can transform, if not, just remain like current situation as 'world factory', it won't able to lead the world in term of economy. |

QUOTE(.:BreT:. @ May 28 2009, 11:16 PM) Green or not green doesn't matter for KLSE right now, as foreign funds participants are low currently, overseas bourses movement won't dictate how KLSE move (unless really big one).KLSE is moving alone more due to internal issue and willingness of the like EPF and PNB moves into the market. One worry is that TM is trading at huge down/selling volume for the last few days, signal massive divestment of some funds. |

some food for thought
The reality on the ground. My friend works in a electronics corporation which has a subsidary company in China. According to him, that company in China retrenched 300 workers at the end of 2008. In February 2009, they employed 500 new workers because of new orders. Now, all the orders have already been met and this company is now in a unenviable position. Whether to keep or retrench these new workers since no new orders are coming. |

QUOTE(nujikabane @ May 28 2009, 10:44 PM) So whatever happens to the stimulus package, gone down the drain ? Not small amount the govt pumped to avoid our country from going to recession. Well, the 60 billion will help stave off steep declines in GDP, in construction sector, in unemployment, bailouts (now smartly, loans are given to companies to buy ailing companies, our top ppl are well trained by certain businessmen who we know will benefit from this) and so on, especially decline in wealth for ppl in certain political affiliation. But is it efficiently used? Maximised? 60B should translate to 60B worth of projects, loans, etc. With PKFZ report opening a can of whoop as* worms, costing 7 over billion with not much work done, I get the impression that we shud calculate the actual investment to 60% if we are lucky. So we should get 36B worth of project. For me, better have some than none at all. Added on May 29, 2009, 12:30 am QUOTE(DJWC @ May 28 2009, 10:59 PM) What message? PKFZ corruption charges will cause some fright. We malaysians may know how bad it is and 'accept' it, but foreign funds will not accept such a thing. Don't forget many more things to come, such as Anwards sodomy trial. That's another scandal is that problematic. If the government manage to get 'evidence' of his guilt, oso got problem because he's the US darling. If don't have, then government seen as 'lying' bunch that's wiling to do anything to maintain power such as charging him with sodomy during election time in hope to decrease voter's favor with Anwar.Added on May 29, 2009, 12:35 am QUOTE(David_Brent @ May 28 2009, 11:55 PM) DIALOG! Lets see US news of the day
GOOD 1. Home sales up 0.3%. Home resales rose by 2.9% to a 4.68 million annual rate from 4.55 million in March. But will this be enough to stave off fears? Look at bad no.1. 2. Initial jobless claims fell by 13,000 to 623,000 in the week ended May 23, lower than forecast, from a revised 636,000 the prior week, according to Labor Department figures released today in Washington. But don't celebrate yet. Read bad no.2. 3. GM finally agreed to turn sell assets 72.5% to treasury, 17.5% to a union health trust and 15% to bondholders aka creditors. This make it smoother. GM turning debt into equity for creditors and bondholders. It's a great plan, creditors who may not see their money back may take up offer on getting equity on the new GM. 15% have already agreed, 20% more who had agreed to support gov's treasury plans have not yet been included. Total 35%. Will they meet deadline for June 1 to get the required 90% approval by bondholders to execute this plan? It might not be a problem as the bondholders really have no choice, this is best way to see their moneys worth come back. 4. Good news is increase in market appetite both in US and UK, most investors see bottom is near even if the experts do now. See bloomberg for details. But as far as risk appetites go, this can come and go. BAD 1. Mortgage Delinquencies, Foreclosures, Rates Increase Eventhough home sales is up (good no.1), you got to understand the context of houses going dirt cheap. The median price slumped 15 percent from a year earlier, the second-biggest drop on record, and distressed properties accounted for 45 percent of all sales. More bank auctions, sure more home bought by bargain hunters. Defaults in NPL/morgage can give a much clearer picture what is happening. One in every eight Americans is now late on a payment or already in foreclosure as mounting job losses cause more homeowners to fall behind on loans, the MBA said. Morgage rate went up to 4.91%. Survey shows, Home sales may reach a bottom by mid-year, according to 72 percent of the panelists, and more than six in 10 predicted housing starts will hit a trough by that time. This means home prices have further to fall, with 40 percent of the respondents forecasting that declines will continue into 2010 or later. 2. Following improvement in jobless claims. The figures have yet to include GM's disenfranchised dealers most likely retrenchment results. Also KeyCorp, the second-largest bank based in Ohio, will cut more than 300 positions this quarter, amid others. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg this month projected the jobless rate, currently at a 25-year high of 8.9 percent, will climb to 9.6 percent by the end of 2009. This month’s jobs report is due June 5. Also, don't forget there's also salary cuts and people cutting down on spending. This will still maintain a negative effect on consumer index. Less consumers, less business for retailers, then manufacturers, then... It's a never ending cycle... You can find all the above from bloomberg. So please dont ask me to give you link. Too much time spent summarizing already, if wanna check just go check latest news there. I'm gonna check cnn, cnbc and bbc next. This post has been edited by omores: May 29 2009, 01:50 AM |

That's why I said.. it's all BS speculation at the Oil market and the bubble is growing.Anyway... for oil company like KNM is totally speculative... The front runners are pumping up the front month price, consumption is far less than expected, inventory is high and contango still exist. A large amount of oil are still store on floating tankers which yet to come on shore. there is a fear of hyper-inflation, perhaps that's the reason, speculators are pumping up the Oil commodity now, much sooner than I would expect. If oil rises too fast, we won't see recovery at all.. perhaps delay out even longer. All expected recession ending at year end may disappear.. consumers may lose confidence again. Just finished reading my newspaper. Hahaha. I know, so outdated. Oso I wanted to add what I got from the lousy earnings report which spooked me when it was announced.
Theres a good news for TM yesterday. especially for ppl worried about not getting dividend because of huge capital repayment. 1. The good news: Today TM had securitised their employees residential loans with AmMortgage. This means extra RM349.9 million in their bank account. This adding with their current cash holdings comes up to RM2.4 bn (based on end Mar '09 and taking into account the dividend payout as well as capital repayment). 2. 2. If I remember correctly, WiNet's agreement to buy wholesale broadband service from TM have not yet been taken into account. I think it was Rm2++-3++ million (i forget dee)? So there goes another cashflow there for rest of year. A lot of ppl have been saying that TM may not pay out dividend. But with the 2.4bn cash pile, we don't have to worry about short term dividend policy. Chances are high that we'll get dividend for rest of year. Now for the skeptics. Saying that TM have not made money for 15 years. That is so v true. I understand and agree with most of what you say. TM got a lot of failings. For instance, their operational efficiency, their management and so on. They definitely need to improve their bottomline and cash flow to stay positive in say 4-5 years. But the last 15 years don't have broadband. You might say that's not a big biz that would make TM profitable. But I see broadband as constant and monthly cashflow to their P&L sheet. With fixed lines, they cannot control the ARPU (average revenue per user) or how much their customers talk in a month. But broadband, if Ah Kong subscribe RM160 package, they will surely earn this RM160 package for some time to come. If Ah Leong take only RM60 package, that income is also quite permanent. And TM have the lion chunk in broadband market. Home based users will still prefer streamyx to mobile broadband and WiMax. Current ratio of broadband and mobile broadband (3G) is still 3 to 1. And this will be a long trend until 3G make a move on pricing and coverage. Especially since new users are likely to be new internet users who would prefer cheaper rates. I don't have to go into competitive edge over WiMax cos we have talked about it earlier on. Plus they are doing well with Streamyx combo package. Not to mention all the HP package that were sold. Cost only RMxx p/month extra with your internet charges but must pay for 2 years. That's 2 years locked in cashflow. I've bought this package for my mom, the laptop's not bad, always the latest model. Look at Astro. Their earnings are rather stable, that's they can expect a regular amount of money coming in. They only have to worry about subscribing new people to sign on their package. And of course, stop ppl from cancelling their subscription (which was a huge problem few years back), I know cos I worked for them on their A&P and CRM initiatives. I'm the one responsible for sending out mailers giving incentives back to ppl to re-subscribe to Astro after they cancel their account. They are good because management is so far pretty good. I'm hoping that TM will eventually follow this leadership style. I see improvements in quality of service and quality of products TM is working on improving themselves. Some of you might not see it tho. But I do. Their customer service now is excellent. They have 24 hour hotline. I had problem with my connection 2 weeks ago. Turns out modem was spoiled. But the technician came straight away. Twice. Because we couldn't hone in the problem first time and he didn't bring new modem at first. 2nd trip he brought 2 different modems to try out somemore. During this time, the call centre called me twice to check whether my problem is solved. Again, I received a call just 2 days ago to check on my connection again. I was very impressed lo. And I was a disgruntled TM customer just a year back due to long wait for installation. But my speed was awesome and my internet connection was never down for one year. Now with the recent service I got, I actually emailed them and commended them for their great service. I'm not an easy customer to handle actually. And I'm still surprised I did that. My wonderful, problem free connection is probably due to the upgrades they are doing. My area has high speed broadband installed. They are in process of upgrading other areas now. So future streamyx users will have same problem free connection like me. Also, another plus of Telekom is they get the benefit of high speed broadband added to their product mix, with the governments money of course. Who else have opportunities like that? So you think Astro is good company? What about Maxis and her internet services? Also, I checked with my friend who uses Maxis. She complained like hell about their service. Got delay in installation. Make appointment to come but never go over to her place. Worse, they didn't even call, so she waited like dungu for it. After she chased them 3 times, they finally have it installed. Maxis is mother share of Astro (the company you praise) but they definitely scr*wed up this one time. So far, Celcom 3G is the most reliable of the lot. Also everyone got problem with the internet speed la. I used my friends Maxis 3G during my internet down time and it was so slow eventho when you log in, the icon for connection at bottom left shows 7.2MBps. I checked their internet speed via http://www.speedtest.net. 7.2Mps my ass, it was only registering at 0.38 MBps. I even have problem logging in my trading hall to trade because not enough data cant be download to keep real time prices. If you have 3G, check your connection speed via this site, its amazing. I'm very sad to learn of this as I've worked on Maxis for their Hotlink A&P and CRM initiatives (Astro joined my account later), even did some launch for their 3G services back then. A very demanding client I may add. But still I have fond memories of them. And if you like Maxis, then you should like the idea that a Maxis man was to be CEO of AXIATA. Jamaluddin Ibrahim. And performance have been pretty good. Sign that Telekom is improving on right direction. They just need to change their bad culture of makan gaji buta for decades, but that takes time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yes again, their earnings report for last quarter was lousy, but TM is not the only company suffering from bad earnings. I myself was shocked that TM did so badly. Also I will scold CEO if I see him la. KLK oso suck ma cos lose 52% profit and KLK is top loser yesterday. They have to writedown RM142.2 million loss on the overseas investment in Yule Catto & Co plc in 1Q, and realised loss of RM23.7 million on foreign exchange. Their nutraceutical plant in Singapore, Davos Life Science Pte Ltd’s also lose money plus the retail division oso lose 11 million. LIONcorp even worse to lose quarter of billion. Genting oso suck because lose 51.5% profit due to their stupid Star Cruise and their investments in UK casinos that never seemed to have made any great contribution to their profits, why nobody complains about this beats me. Also I can bet that I'll be getting dividend from TM, but i doubt Genting will have any dividend for the next couple of years. DRB-Hicom oso suck because lose 60 million. Why nobody whack them? I could list a dozen more earnings reports that are dismally low. And all these bad earnings report are a accumulated effect plus more than expected GDP contraction is what caused the KLCI to drop. Not TM alone. We have already known that earnings report for this quarter would be bad. All got reasons, some ok reasons, some not so good because of stupid acquisition. TM is not the only one who has less than good reason. This post has been edited by omores: May 29 2009, 04:57 AM |

QUOTE(omores @ May 29 2009, 04:38 AM) Just finished reading my newspaper. Hahaha. I know, so outdated. Oso I wanted to add what I got from the lousy earnings report which spooked me when it was announced. WAH... a very long one...Theres a good news for TM yesterday. especially for ppl worried about not getting dividend because of huge capital repayment. Also everyone got problem with the internet speed la. QUOTE(danmooncake @ May 29 2009, 05:31 AM) omores: Oh that's easy. TM has reiterated their annual dividend policy of RM700mil or 90% payout, whichever is higher. According to AMVEST who is more bearish about TM than RHBinvest, this is about 27 cents FY09-FY10F. The lower the price, the higher the yield. For instance price at 2.70, its a beautiful 10% (not calculated at par value k) or what I'm aiming for is 0.78% p/share price with stock price at RM3.50. Based on your research, what is the expected dividend that TM should pay out for this year (in percentage based on current share price)? Psychologically, TM must have been super confident about their performance this year to give out the capital repayment in a time where capital is hard to find and companies are definitely posting lower profits/loss. Which was why I bought the counter in the first place. It also is a point of no return k, if they end up needing money badly then they will be screw*d. They can't go issuing rights to make more money, it would make shareholders jittery and question their stupidity in giving out such huge sum of money. I'm sure the management would think about how badly it will reflect on them if they gave out money just to ask of it back by diluting shares? Hence I say it's point of no return. Money given out, TM will deal with it the best way they can. Totally unlike Resorts / YTL. The weird thing is while Resorts would do well to give back some money to shareholders, in the case of TM you see some shareholders asking TM to keep the money la to ensure they have enough cash for the IPTV and HSBB installation. Aiyo, can you imagine shareholders telling the company to keep the money. How extraordinary. Of course you would say that this is Khazanah's idea, they need 2bn without changing their stakes in TM, thus TM went along with it. Parting with RM4bn is not that big a deal, TM have enough money to sustain. Remember, TM had demerged into TM, the cash cow with low growth in voice except for broadband sector and TMI/AXIATA high growth, high capex. And TM is not spending extra capex than HSBB (which is locked in) and maybe IPTV (which may not go ahead), they aren't investing in voice anymore. So drop in ARPU for voice does not matter as much. Their big block of business is broadband. And capex will go into this. Not fair to look for growth in voice, when the capex's in broadband. Watch out for growth in broadband in the earnings report instead. And you'll find increased amount of broadband subscribers there. Ding Dong! I like a company with guts. Confidence and making psychological statements like that, I just went ahead and bought terlalu banyak biji and have not even sold yet to reduce my risk. But to warn you, I will sell half of my shares when I reach my TP in June, as I will need the money to be diversified in other counters. The other half leave there for few years unless got warning signs, like any other counter la. I'll attach reports from AMINVEST and RHBINVEST here, with dividend payout details. If you read this, then you'd realized the Q109 earnings wasn't so bad after all. Read with pinch of salt of course. But its interesting how RHB didn't change their TP price of 3.55 (with cap repayment included) before and after Q109 announcement. Of course, I'm overly bullish, so take my words with a pinch of salt. I need some salt myself to avoid over-expectation Attached File(s)

Lion make losses last year.
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM...210551/Article/ # LION CORPORATION BHD posted a pre-tax loss of RM551.571 million for the third quarter ended March 31, 2009, compared with last year's pre-tax profit of RM50.132 million. Its revenue declined to RM521.112 million from RM1.321 billion previously. It cited the impact of the global economic turmoil and the sharp contraction in demand in the steel industry as reasons for the steep drop in performance. # LION INDUSTRIES CORPORATION BHD swung into a pre-tax loss of RM298.353 million for the third quarter ended March 31, 2009, from a pre-tax profit of RM215.677 million a year ago. Its revenue eased to RM927.134 million from RM1.693 bilion previously. |

Hang Seng opening. If you want to buy shares now now now, please wait a least half hour to see where the trends are. Better be cautious than lose your pants.
I'm still bearish, and am waiting for my shorts in FKLI to make me mucho money. Tried to sell one of my speculative counters tapi tak jadi. Stupid MKland. This post has been edited by omores: May 29 2009, 09:22 AM |

Fundamentals dont change overnight. The reason why there was an excessive draw on oil inventory is because the refiners have been cutting back for weeks now. They were rushing last week due to the memorial weekend. Doesnt accurately reflect the real demand of oil usage. New home sales is less than expected.
Like i have advise couple of my FKLI clients, short on rallies. |

Anyone knows how the average price is calculated after cap repayment for TM? Assuming buy twice at same volume
If 1st purchase is before cap repayment = $3.8 Then 2nd purchase is after cap repayment = $2.7 Then should my average price be (3.8+2.7)/2 - 0.98 ? Or should it be (3.8-0.98)+2.7 and divide 2? |

Don't have time for detailed analysis yet, but I think they have enough cash position to tahan any bad news. Also, recent BDI went up, as long s CHina buys iron ores, then Maybulk will have business. So even will low charges 11,000/carrier, i think next quarter will see boost.making loss from their operation activities.... reserved cash is getting lesser.... ard 800 mil left from previous 1 bil thank God that their investment in POSH lately turn up to b profitable..... + boost frm recent jump in BDI (any reason on the BDI jump lately? so i think any price above 3 is still expensive for me..... any1 wan 2 share their views? |

QUOTE(cherroy @ May 29 2009, 09:54 AM) Generally, good and solid company never have right issue, unless involved some big lucrative and profitable business acquiring which needed to do so. yea hor, never tot of this, makes senseRight issue means company has not enough money, as simple as that, so shareholders needs to fork out extra money from their pocket on top of their previous purchased cost. We invested in a company want to see return on our money aka you generate money for us, but now it is the other way round, we need to fork out extra, so no good no good. My view only. |

QUOTE(viper88 @ May 29 2009, 10:46 AM) TMnet... big shark are playing with the counter. .. can see seller throwing big quantity at lower price and small buyer past few days Very easy to manipulate when you have 1 - 1.5 billion trading volume only. Thats why up down up down, cos sharks buy create demand, then they sell again, create picture of loss. They will let it fall till .... not sure when they will start buying back yet. Lionind also i feel got some insider ppl pushing up its price since last week, they know the financial report is bad but want others to support the price so it wont drop much once report out. I'm queing to buy at lower price.. din drop much yet.. If we were trading with volume at 2.5 billion, then story might be different. When bull will really bull, when bear will really bear. Remember when ci drop like mad, the trading volume was 4 billion. Actually that was very bad oso. |

At least she bot small quantity. horrible Those who bought huge amount will be in trouble. if buy 50,000 units or 150,000 units (or the dude who spent RM140,000 i wonder what happened to him), will find it hard to convert their warrant into TA. So for no reason lose money that way. Even if convert in part, your TA shares coupled with loss of other warrants you don't convert, if you put in the loss under TA, you 'll have to wait til TA shoot up somewhat before recover back your losses |

QUOTE(dirtyrat @ May 29 2009, 11:26 AM) with more than a billion people and lots of foreigners, it's a surprise they did not confirm more cases or earlier. Got flu cases earlier. China learnt a lot from SARS, they've spent quite a mint on their center of disease control (or something like that). Trust my, they'd be super efficient at containing it. When first news of H1N1 came up, i think they already prepare thermostat reading at the immigration in airports. I remember how stringent they were. A few times i got scared i had to be quarantined when i flew in and out between china and cambodia, because the change in weather too extreme for me, so always get flu that time. Cambodia oso got SARs scare. Very boring one ok, get quarantined. You are stuck while people do tests to you for one whole week, cannot leave your ward room. I always put ice on forehead and face before going thru immigration then. Hehehehe. |

For those wish to speculate on TA-WB at 0.005.
At 0.005 although the price seem neglible or can't get even lower, you have potential to lose your 100% of your capital. So better know the risk first before commiting. Even if TA bounce back afterwards, to say like 1.10, you make 1000% out of it, but it has been suspended, then if you have bought 500 lots, then you need to fork out 50K cash to convert to realise the gain. |

QUOTE(omores @ May 29 2009, 11:23 AM) I think this is a risk they should know already lo. Like moorish, lose only RM500 mah. At least she bot small quantity. FYI I'm still on que, I think can never get la at this price, que since early yesterday morning and this morningThose who bought huge amount will be in trouble. if buy 50,000 units or 150,000 units (or the dude who spent RM140,000 i wonder what happened to him), will find it hard to convert their warrant into TA. So for no reason lose money that way. Even if convert in part, your TA shares coupled with loss of other warrants you don't convert, if you put in the loss under TA, you 'll have to wait til TA shoot up somewhat before recover back your losses QUOTE(MoonRider @ May 29 2009, 11:26 AM) As I said , if i manage to buy at 0.005 .. will try to sell at 0.01 these 2-3 days .. I'm planning the same also else just sell at 0.005 .. u lost the broker fees only .. reason 0.005 is the bottom already ... Yeah my tgoffs price came up a bit |
