I suspect it's because among top 4 we're the ones offering the least wages to our players and hence Man City probably think it's easier to lure our players away.

Sorry but in this era of spending madness it's getting less and less likelier to get legends like Tony Adams and Paolo Maldini. Money does talk.

But still, 14 million only for Kolo? In this highly inflated market? You're having a laugh!

Ade's departure has left us with one of the slowest strike force in the league as well as probably the slowest Wenger has ever had since he was appointed as Arsenal manager. Right now I still don't consider Walcott nor Arshavin a striker yet until I see them played up top by the boss. Even then if Arshavin or Walcott were to be played as either one of the strikers we will be severely one dimensional with virtually no aerial presence whatsoever unless paired with Bendtner.

Huntelaar would be a great signing but right now I'd be leaning towards Chamakh as a more direct and similar replacement to Adebayor IMO.

nope Quick, 14 million pound for a proven and experienced central defender in the form on Kolo Toure is not a lot

i maintain my opinion that whoever that is having the final say on our player values for transfer having serious problem if player with the caliber of Kolo Toure being sold to the club that supposedly looking to knock us out of the top 4 in BPL being sold for just 14 million pound.

that or Kolo having serious injury problem so that he have to go for cheap amount of transfer values relatively.
*
well, henry leaves us at price around that.for a defender, toure is good enough for that price.
i would say, give us kompany or richards.we'll give you toure.

Hi there wave.gif

Long time no see, thought asking you to get more goodies from The Armoury :hehe So, what's the price for the second kit in UK? I'm sure many of us are VERY INTERESTED on it laugh.gif

Back to Ade's departure, I agree on the countless offsides and flow breakdown. But at the same time, being a regular striker in Arsenal, without him, AW and the players will have a lot work to do to adapt to new environment and formation. Actually, it's a good and bad on it.

Bad: we do not know if the new team without Ade can perform.

Good: we were on 4th spot with Ade, maybe without him, we will be on higher spot laugh.gif
On the formation of 4-3-3, actually it's the football revolution (according to an article I read somewhere). More and more teams are adapting to 4-3-3 because it is flexible. On offense, it's 4-3-3, on defense, it can be coverted to 4-5-1 or even 4-2-3-1. I wonder if AW will jump into the bandwagon and follow although my instinct tells me that AW will stick to his 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
We had some success with 4-4-1-1 and I can see AW may continue this formation. The question is who the targetman is. Definitely not RvP.
In AW, we trust. His insight that football will suffer in months to come is indeed a sensible statement. All these mega-purchases are not "realistic" to me, especially when we are experiencing economy recession! Even with all the sugar daddies out there, I am sure that these expenses will sooner-or-later be escalated to the fans via match tickets, jerseys etc.... and Emirates Stadium ticket price may become among the lowest then.

haha... really long time never see your posts liao...

It's actually 1CF out, and 1CB(Vermy) + 1CF(Dudu) + 1CM(Tommy) in. The latter duo has been out for so long that their return to fitness can be considered as newcomers.
Formations are dead and static, players are alive and flexible.

In terms of personnel, the best set of players that we should field must include Robin, Dudu, Tommy, Fabs, and Andy. I think a starting 442 will suffice as it often morphs into a 433 or 4231 or whatever you like, as our players often interchange with each other. Even though Arsene hinted that Nasri may play in the middle one day, Tommy with his vast experience in Dortmund and Czech will be more capable in the middle (No matter whether he starts along Fabs or on the wings).

We've already seen how Andy works well with players who makes clever runs like Nicky. Dudu, being another player who knows when to position himself is likely to work well with Andy. I don't expect to see Robin playing like Titi ie running alongside the last defender, but he can be the link man on the right. If he cuts in, the RW or RB overlaps him; if not he'll receive the ball on the right side of the box and whack it like he always do.

see how bad the lack of internet is affecting meeeeee.... =(

erm i can check the kits for you.. im staying around my area for now and limiting my trips to london due to new found work (yay! but dunno for how long ) financial reasons and also the swine flu ... i did however renew the membership... cant wait to get the new membership kit =)

the away kits usually drop in price mid season i think ? that means around dec shud be cheaper by quite some diff... if new kits are coming out .. the price of the old one will drop even more.. expect to see those like in "clearance" going for 15pounds as standard. home kits i think since we're not changing shud now be in the 25pounds region. (all this not from emirates tho.. emirates usually more expensive than shops outside)

the white kit looks good but didnt the blue one just came out ? these ppl certainly know how to milk every penny ehhhhh i quite like the polo t-ish design although i hope its nothing like the england jersey which looks like a overpriced polo t indeed.

im beginning to worry about our squad depth again, AW should still add.. injuries WILL HIT us.. even before the season it has struck.. so better than to regret later that our squad is thin, do it now ... i hope... Next season will be very difficult ... although man utd will be slightly weakenend without tevez n cr7 .. and liverpool if they lose alonso .. aston villa and man city has strengthened and that means less chances of securing points against the teams outside the top 4 ..

I myself am eager to see 4-3-3 ... arshavin will thrive in a forward role as will RvP and rosicky as well as they are all suited to play behind the strikers (rosicky's pervious position in his previous club as well as a attacking central midfielder) a 4-3-3 will allow more more interchange and dynamic attacks as all players can take turns to cut in.. and all the players listed above likes to do so.. increases tendency to be able to shoot from far and we all know that the 3 players i listed out has the calibre to do so in those positions. problem is i don't know how to sort out the midfield.. thats perhaps whats stopping AW in the balance of the whole team.. i would like to see it tested tho. mayb like the 4-3-3 attack...revert to 4-5-1 while defending when without possesion would be a good idea..

henry left us at age 30. Kolo still got the best years ahead of him. I do hope he is not leaving us.

I wouldn't swap richards or kompany for Kolo. I'd give them Senderos + cash instead. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif now that'll be deal of the year! hehehe

btw, surprised to see Carlos VELA in the list of players to Austria. Welcome back!

miss that too..mostly because we can safely conclude that there is virtually no other rocket launcher in our tiny little squad sad.gif
and miss his tangguk too..there were so many times last season where opponent keeper took the bola muntah/bola tampanan without being challenged..if only rosicky were there.. cry.gif

2 years ago? A bit exaggerating I suppose. Kolo's form dipped after his malaria and his spat with Willy didn't help things either, yet towards the end of last season he showed signs of regaining his form. Both Willy and Kolo are professional enough to put aside their differences, and with Vermy coming in to join the fun both our veterans have to shape up to keep their positions.

le Boss has reiterated umpteen times that he will keep as many players as he can. Ade's departure is quite inevitable but there's no reason to suggest that Kolo has to leave either, regardless of ACN or not.

mind that.. striker in arsenal isnt good enough for upcoming season..
we only can hope for eduardo and RVP....hmm adebayor cry.gif
the other is 'hopeless'

arsene wenger need to make huntelaar to be our striker... thumbup.gif
*
by the "other" I presume you mean Nicky?

4th choice striker (3rd since Dudu was out) scoring 14 goals isn't good enough? He's not our first choice striker when everyone is fit anyway, but don't forget many of the goals that he scored were vital ones. Again I'd like to remind everyone that Tevez only scored 1 more than Nicky while Berbatov scored the same number of goals. And both of them have vast experience compared to our young Dane.

Huntelaar's not going to come cheap and with Dudu around we already have someone in the similar mould.

14 million for toure is cheap if you consider that an unproven EPL defender like vermaelean cost us 10 million, and glen johnson cost liverpool 18.5 million. toure is a proven EPL performer and has been consistently been playing, so yes, i agree with the view that 14 million ain't enough.

and i think henry's conduct since he left arsenal has been totally professional and merely goes to cement his place in the arsenal hall of legends. however, the same cannot be said of a certain cashley...

We are used to sell players cheap becos of their final year in the contract maybe.

Look at the price we sold Henry and Viera. Its freaking cheap.

AC Milan offer 40m for a 29 year old Luis Fabiano and Chelsea offer 30+m for 29-30 old Sheva.

I always wonder how come we always sell players cheaply.

Funniest thing I read this morning, written by a contributor in Football365's mailbox.

QUOTE
Wenger Has 'Gulliver Syndrome'
That's the only explanation that fully explains what's been happening at Arsenal slowly but surely over the last few years. Arsene Wenger must have read Gulliver's Travels on a summer holiday a few years back and fallen in love with the story. Upon his return to England he hatched upon a cunning plan that would allow him to live his favourite fairy tale while working.

He cast his eye around his team and thought 'HMMmmmmm, now how can I make myself like my hero Gulliver?'. To fulfil his dream he began to reduce the squad height. He immediately set about getting rid of all his tall players...Vieira, Henry, Kanu, Sol Campbell, Pires, Adebayor, Hleb and replaced them all with Lilliputians such as Fabregas, Vela, Arshavin, Walcott, Nasri, Eduardo and Rosicky.

Now at training Wenger can walk around like a giant. He probably even takes extra big steps for effect. Don't be surprised if Bentner and Diaby are shortly replaced by Nick Nack and the little fella from Jackass.

Everybody talks about the young average age of the Arsenal team but no one mentions the average height. It' s one of the reasons we're so good with ball and explains why we're susceptible to set pieces and a long ball flicked on. Maybe we need Jimmy-Choo and Nike to team up and develop a football boot with killer heels!
Morgan Emmett

Er, if you haven't read Gulliver's Travels, then this wouldn't make any sense doh.gif

By the way, F365 is THE best football site evah!
