i juz want to ask how to check the maxis bill using *100# ?In my account there are 2 option:1.Current&outstanding balance
2.Unbilled amt&credit limit
Which one should i choose?what is mean by the credit limit RM200 in option 2?Is it for me to use RM200 for my ivalue1?(just got my 3gs 3 days ago,a few calls and 10mb data usage)Thanks in advance.

that function is for turning off data roaming when you are overseas. as you are still beginner, suggest you read back some of the post 1st and stop giving irrelevant answer.

Added on January 9, 2010, 5:24 pma lot of ppl before this have tried and failed. the only solution is to call Maxis to block/cancel the data.

hey guys..ive encounter a problem.
Before yesterday, my iphone is unable to online unless i use wifi. the edge/3g doesnt work. However, since yesterday i can online even though i switch off my wifi. Im wondering why does this happen?
And yea, after i switch off all the push/notification thingy, the data still leaking i guess..from 900kb+ till this morning 2mb @@
may i know what happen?

i suggest calling maxis. without any plan, which is what im using, they charge u 0.5 cent for every one KB. ...thats really expensive. i had my iphone for just around 1 week and i think the bill was rm30 just for data. they have some other plans for data as well, daily plans which last from 1 hour to 1 day ...which doesnt really help. and u have monthly plans from rm58 to rm99...really not worth it imo.

Hie all of Iphone users or iphone expert.. I would like to ask why my iphone automatically spend my credits even though i never call and sms ?? I bought the iphone from my friend directly. I'm using prepaid right now...

One of my friend said that For sure is internet application "ON" which i unable to close up all of the application. An example Store application. I would going to apply postpaid soon but before this, I just want to make sure what's my problem ?? I'm a worry that i apply for postpaid and become more quickly spending credits. It might be cost me a hundred amount !!! Thank you..

hey mate. how much do u use usually in a month?
u can purchase a 500mb data plan for rm58 PLUS ure usual postpaid plan...provided ure using maxis..digi all i dunno lol
the iphone sends and receives data in the background itself...so even if u disable 3G, it'll use GPRS for it. i would think there are only 2 options really.
1. u sign up for the 500mb plan, u can surf around and not worry too much about data in the background
2. u call maxis, cancel 3G, EDGE, GPRS (it also disables MMS tho)

entering the 3rd week of my maxis 3Gs usage, I would say just make sure you turn all NOTIFICATIONS to OFF, location services to OFF and also disable any PUSH updates from Facebook, games etc.

yes, 500MB is more than enough for moderate usage of web browsing. unless you download plenty of apps/videos. plus, you can switch to WiFi just in case your allocated usage has reached its limit.

Facts:
- iPhone 2G JB& Unlocked with Pwnage to 3.1.2
- Will connect using Edge/GPRS even with WIFI on
- tried SBSettings but did NOT work
- Re-pwnage phone
- did NOT reinstall SBSettings as CYDIA could not open properly (connection over EDGE/GPRS, again refuse to do WIFI) and do no want to try as this would incur MORE ABSURD CHARGES

Damage:
- RM200+ on my post paid bill (no I do not have a data plan, coz I connect exclusively over WIFI)
- called Maxis, gave them a piece of my mind (and its not beautiful), asked to to deactivate anything and everything on data. Apparently Maxis is of the opinion that a phone as 'high-tech' as this would incur charges (leak) no mater what u do.....?? And may not acknowledge the WIFI issue.
- 2 more wrinkles to mar my youthful face
- went through my entire swear vocabulary, all directed at Maxis.

Action:
- Switched SIM with CELCOM, entered gibberish into APN (as suggested by davidgary73)
- put back Maxis sim
- Disabled EVERYTHING (push, email, etc.)
- unable to connect to Safari, Maps etc. (phone says unable to connect)
- looks to have stopped it...though not entirely sure as I did not document closely
- HOWEVER, cannot connect using WIFI

Further Action:
- Got a DIGI PREPAID line
- entered gibberish in APN
- Disabled EVERYTHING (push, email, etc.)
- cannot connect to Safari, Maps etc (phone says unable to connect)
- CANNOT connect using WIFI
- has been 2 hours credit is still the same, all accounted for. Will be monitoring further.

Conclusion:
- looks to have stemmed d flow of unwanted charges...hopefully
- at the same time, it has castrated my iPhone. it is now no more than a glorified media player w/o WIFI.

While I realize that this may not be the most helpful of posts. I do hope that at least some desperate bugger like me would be able to save some $$ and at least get to use their phone.

My wife iphone 3G jailbroken and 3.1.2 also gets huge bills for GPRS and Edge. I checked periodically that everything is off, 3G, Edge, roaming and notification as well as set these off in Bosspref. Still last 2 months bill kena more than RM60 for those charges. Now I have to tell her not to surf if there's no wifi coz that's the culprit I think.

how about buying a hotlink prepaid pack (for less than rm9) and then purchase the 500MB per day for rm8?

that way you can use all the data services to your heart's content and subsequently to download the sbsettings?

or alternatively you can meet me in dayabumi/pasar seni during office hours and i can loan you my sim card for a couple of minutes?

bro how come your Wifi isn't working? the wifi is independent of carrier. I DO AGREE tho that with maxis your data tends to leak, compared to my previous experience with U Mobile. My wife is still so happy with her prepaid allocation of 300MB, she's not even used HALF!
