i really really really have no idea on how you guys cannot ultilise 3GB on the iPhone. in a place like australia, where there is no such thing as unlimited internet bandwidth, i haven't seen anyone in the local forum complaining about insufficiency.

personally, i'm subscribed to the 320MB bundle (and my iPhone isn't jailbroken, hence i cannot do any VOIP or tethering) and i'm finding extreme difficulties to finish my allowance.

interestingly, i patronise forums (and even moderate one), read news, e-mails corresponding, IM chatting, download podcasts (thrice or more a week) on a daily basis without bursting my limit. not wanting to put this to waste (yes i'm chinese and hence the kiasu gene is embedded deep inside me), i refrain myself from using the university network as they charge me for using it (yes internet is indeed serious business here)

Hi guys,

Last but not least about Maxis 3G service over in Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu, I can describe only 1 word : really suck as the line is like yoyo as they just came in last 1 year plus or so.

That why when I bought Blackberry Bold outright (means without plan)from Maxis,I signed the unlimited data with Celcom. At least their 3G line is stable though their service is pretty much the opposite.

Conclusion here : we can't have the best of both world...That is Malaysian for us...

The Settings > General > Usage > Cellular Network Data in the iPhone is correct is it not?
I'm always worried about accidentally using the EDGE network.

P.S. aren't you a moderator?

even IF someone did, it wouldn't pass through apple's approval before it can be released to the public

I think we should. So we can keep track our usage amount. Bear in mind USAGE amount here is NOT INCLUDED WIFI usage. So it's good.

I also over use this month, so my bill is RM 418 !!! and my data charges is RM250 already. So really need to becareful coming month sad.gif

Hi you sure it is NOT INCLUDED WIFI usage? Mine up to 8GB last month. I was shock as well, i connected to WIFI most of the time, at home, at office.

Fortunately, i just received this month phone bills from Maxis, it shows i only utilised 120MB only.

Can anyone confirm with source that the data usage displayed on the iphone settings are all data usage used on the iPhone. Does it include wifi and does it monitor usage on all applications.. n not just the default iPhone apps. I'm not talking bout a JB phone.

I got many problems with Maxis after Maxis officially released the iPhone in Malaysia. I didn't get mine from them and still, there's a few annoyance. After a while, I couldn't take their bullshit anymore, so I changed to DiGi. Been a smarter choice for me so far.

good point, =Hanxz=. i missed that post completely blush.gif blush.gif blush.gif

usage of 8GB on the iPhone (as much as the actual iPhone memory capacity)? aku tengok p0rn kat my iPhone hari hari pun x melebihi had aku.

to be able to surf that much, not only that i need to have such data bundle, but also a need to be glued to an electrical socket perpetually for juice.

my data transmission for so long also belum lepas 1GB yet laugh.gif
let's just see whether he replies or not lo laugh.gif

and i hope its not photochopped images tongue.gif
and to the others contemplating about the usage meter of the iphone, AFAIK it records data that is transmitted via EDGE or 3G or GPRS

try streaming a youtube video via wifi and see whether it records the usage or not, a normal 3-4min video would make up about 10++ mb

if i'm not mistaken (as been told by many customer service consultants), those records are typically 1-3 days late.

only those subscribed to prepaid services will obtain real time results (for very obvious reasons of course)
