@rip_code my safari doesnt work, however the counter in cellular network data statistic is increasing bits by bits and got 2K within 5 minutes. No apps running. SBSettings with 3G off, Edge Off, FakeAPN. Is there any other apps that running that would eat up my bytes ?

Currently im Upgrading to 3.0.1 - after upgrading, the data in cellular network data is still at 0 bytes.

I'll let it be idle for 10 minutes and see how. After that will do JB and see how. Will update later after JB.

@22:20 JB the unit back with the apps... wait a few other minutes, the cellular network data counter are not increase.. this is great !... now im transferring my apps, music, video and notes again.

Just to make sure there is no background apps is running, you can troubleshoot by force quit all apps. hold down power button until slide to off then hold home button until it loads back your springboard nod.gif

@nodoubt,
I was using the i3G for almost 10 months without any problems with disabling of APN. Perhaps something changed since a lot of people seem to be having problems disabling APN. I don't remember paying a single cent to Maxis for unauthorised data usage charges.

Now I'm on a plan and am loving having the world at my finger tips smile.gif

Do you guys know, if it is possible to upgrade my current iValue1 plan to IData plan (3GB)?

My company recently started providing subsidies for 3G broadband(up to rm 70) and it kinda seems like a good deal to me since i don't really call/sms much.. I'm just double checking actually, I've asked the hotline and they said I can't because I am on contract but I thought I read before someone switch to the unlimited plan, or are they just "adding on" to it?

Regards

Are you sure though? I've downloaded some stuff from Cydia, and the bandwidth used to download is shown on the counters (when on 3G) unless you mean the apps itself don't show?

@ctzalifah,
I used a non-JB set. Initially, I just put in some crap stuff in the APN. When Maxis was officially announced as the official provider here in Malaysia, I ter-updated my network settings and my APN settings "disappeared"; I then created a fake profile. It worked for me and a couple of my friends; have no idea why it's not working for U though *shrugs*

@tnsai,
You could always check with Maxis if they'll allow you to upgrade but from iValue 1 to iData they might not entertain U. If it's iValue 1 to iValue 3 maybe got chance tongue.gif Anyhow, no harm checking with Maxis. Also, don't forget to ask for waiver of whatever fees needed to be paid.

@developer,
I've been told by those using jailbroken phones that their usage counter ain't too accurate. It apparently is quite accurate on the non jailbroken phones.

Thanks for the info.

I think it depends what apps you use from Cydia, just have to becareful when you use apps that uses the network. Although, for example, xGPS's usage is pretty clear and it shows on the counter.

So, its possible to call Maxis hotline to check on the data usage? Their online thing at their website is useless..

@tnsai,
You could check though I'd never gotten information from there. I'd always waited till my bill came and more or less rely on the Usage counter on the iPhone smile.gif

Wait also whats the point, they i am using iValue 2 155, and it seems i have exceeded my current billing amount by alot. I still can't imagine how the heck that happened. Sigh, i will wait for my bill on the 10th to start screwing them. This is the first month since I received my Iphone and honestly, Maxis's seemed to screw up everything.

hi guys. Doesn't Maxis provide us with any features to check online how much data we have used since last billing date? I checked their website and couldn't find any info on this. I think Maxis should provide us with this service.

Yeah their website sucks monkey .. banana.. I mean if you access their Value Added services tab, it doesn't even really correspond with your account.. Whichever mickey mouse company that designed that web service deserves to go bankrupt..
