I am on Maxis iValue100 so i entitle to use 500MB per month. But i still need to use very very careful because there is no way we(Or maxis) can estimate / calculate our usage. I just notice my usage is between 200-300MB based on my usage in previous 3 months, so from this month onwards, i can turn my 3g on without worrying that much |

@vui_msia,
I never really uhm used my data services (3G) in the past (only on a pay per use and that was v rare too!) but since 3.0 I've decided to go with the RM99 Unlimited Plan (btw it's not unlimited but capped at 3GB) I guess I will monitor my usage from next month onwards; come 1 Jul and see how it goes for the next few months before I decide if I should go with a 'cheaper' less 'flexible' plan but heheh I think if one uses the phone for Internet Tethering, it's wise to use the Unlimited Plan. |

Yeah, Totally agree. If you are into Tethering, just go ahead & apply for unlimited plan. Otherwise u might be suffering all the time just to avoid not to over your usage limit. It's a PAIN!! |

@vui_msia,
I'm on the move quite a bit so the Internet Tethering will come in handy on those ocassions; then I will only worry about low battery levels *grins* Also, I figured it's more worth it subscribing to this plan than getting the USB modem separately; at least this one I can This post has been edited by tinkerbel: Jun 27 2009, 10:47 PM |

haha, thats excatly what i had in mind too. I just subscribed streamyx last week .. after taken all these consideration like what you mentioned. I actually just move to KL not long ago. Wanted to have a wireless connection, cuz i may move out anytime. but there are a lot issues on that, i even tried Wimax 10Mbps, but found out it wasnt working cuz i staying at Condo 20th floor (It supports up to 5th flr, lol).... so give up.. and installed Streamyx instead This post has been edited by vui_msia: Jun 27 2009, 10:22 PM |

@vui_msia,
Other than it's ridiculous speed and ocassional down time, I have nothing much to complain about re Streamyx; at least it works! Thus far, I've used both Maxis & Celcom USB modem and I'll rate it about the same; unless ur in Sabah/Sarawak then Celcom is definitely handier |

@vailance,
Are U sure APN has been disabled? If it's not disabled, the data will continue to stream; even if you think you're not online. And when U press an app that needs data, it'll just auto stream in for u. I suspect U having disabled APN. @vui_msia, Act, I realised Maxis USB modem does tend to cut U off after some time |

@wee395,
Just make sure APN disabled otherwise there will still be charged. Also, as mentioned by al3p if U haf Wifi available, Y need to connect online via BT when U can just directly connect to Wifi on ur laptop? I haven't tested the use of Internet Tethering over a long period of time but I'm quite sure it's high battery consumption. |

QUOTE(wee395 @ Jun 28 2009, 06:07 PM) In your situation, I suggest you just buy a PCMIA or USB wIFIcard (b/g/n) for your PC instead.. IF you have access to WIFI, just connect directly, no point to use your expensive iPhone as a WIFI card, you dont need to worry other issues like battery life etc |

Can that be done - Tether via WiFi?I don't think so, unless you have made it successfully. AFAIK, I tried over USB cable and it works beautifully on Mac, shouldn't have any problem with Bluetooth also I assume. |
