Duno bout it but for the first time my 40gb kicked into full speed fan mode when playing gta iv on a hot afternoon day, graphic glitches start occuring, i quickly turn off the ps3, thankfully nothing happen after that * touch wood * and it seems that 40gb are getting more and more ylod cases, better start take caring of mine better

Added on June 5, 2009, 2:28 pmdo take note..

i still remember seconds before the YLOD strikes..

infamous - kinda hang/stuck for 1-2 seconds - auto off - turn on back, got 1 yellow light, then blinking red lights..

My PS3 already 4 time struck by YLOD..

one thing i can conclude is it need better thermal paste.last time i bought some ciken brand thermal paste...last for few days before it YLOD again (again apply the same story repeated for 3 times).then i mix it with some brand thermal paste and it last much longer but at first 15 minute the fan will kick to hyper mode in every session i start playing.

Now i'm ordering reputable brand (artic cooling) thermal paste...hope this will resolve the problem permanently....since i still has long list of games in my possession that i hasn't finish yet!!!

guess so since it transmit the heat from the processor unit to heatsink...thermal paste also got expiry date in a way.

guys from pc modding always replace their pc thermal paste due to overclocking processor causing more heat.this is totally from my reading so don't mind this if it's totally untrue

if PS3 is identical fully 100% to one another then i can agree to that... well in my case it seem can't last longer so had to do what ever cheapest cost to revive it back (as vorchiel said)tongue.gif...

blow another RM1400 is not my option, don't has that kind of luxury. well...i'm no expert either in PS3 or electronics...so don't quote me...kekeke happy.gif

Lol pretty much useless i think, cause from what i experienced with my laptop + a laptop cooler, it actually cause more overheating than cooling as the heat tends to clog up at the bottom of the laptop cooler, the fan blow up more hot air as times goes, don't know whether its caused by my cheap laptop cooler or what, haha.

Anyway, the ps3 did a pretty good job with cooling already, so u are pretty much pissing in an ocean of piss tongue.gif Just put ur ps3 into well ventillated area, its more effective in cooling it off
