@Jcsy,i think can play 1080p with no problem one. Need to tweak a bit.

discovered that can play some 1080p , 720p is now a breeze

some 1080p with alot compression (smaller file size) is having difficulty.. those slightly bigger files can play.. with very small noticable lag.

for those files i also wondering what 2 set , lol

ive got quite alot 1080p to test so can see results

but so far, its like so much improvement than without configuring it at all

now also i just realize that 1080p got many types. tried different 1080p videos that i have, some can use cuda acceleration by coreavc, some the acceleration doesn't work. some will also cause my cpu usage to spike up to 50%.

all this talk is tempting me to test on my 2.0 P4 at home..haha
i wonder how it will fare

@dlwl, so tempting?Haha,720p sure have no problem. 1080p i guess P4 2.0GHz can't run smoothly.

@Jcsy, can play 1080p making you happy right? Means in the future you are going to support on 1080p already.

hehe then i can seriously think of saving the money on something else other than a new pc, and probably move my PC to my TV screen to play movies

im going 2 be supporint 720p because at 1080p, my storage, speed and eyes cant catch everything up

its a good to have though.. but im satisfied with 720p as of now 1080p is a major bonus

tested with my 2.0 p4 already. 1080p definately cant play. sound faster than the video. cpu usage 100% all the way

for 720p, without coreavc, usage is about 80-85%;
with coveavc, usage drop to about 60-70%. still can play quite smoothly

btw, if i remember correctly, i saw someone at garage sales sold his p4 set for about rm150 or some value near that. pretty darn cheap

Guys, face that problem too. So movie even is 1080 but it still consume high CPU usage. Reason is, the movie is not encoded with H.264 but instead other format. Tested with quite a few movie that i loot from edmin, the result is, som movie only take less then 10% of the cpu usage but some can spike up to 30%!

@fylon,the previous installed codec conflict with the other codec?I assume my windows is having the same problem too as i have long long time not formating already.

i only sort of knew it when i installed the latest core avc, then i see cuda acceleration working on certain 1080 movies only.

No really ray, I believe is the codec problem. Some of the codec is no supported by the hardware decoder(GC), CPU will only help ifself on decoding the movie. So there comes the high CPU usage.
