@ray
once you enable the hardware acceleration, no need install coreavc.

have you try this??

@dlwl

Same here. Was using the integrated MPC that comes together in the Klite. But mine running good le.. Weird!

@Kabu

Yea. But if ur on Nvidia card, coreAVC is a need as we need the CUDA. laugh.gif

i think i sort of discovered the problem already. only that movie that i tried, the cpu usage goes to about 50%. tried with other clips like movie trailers, about 10% or less only. so it's the movie encoding perhaps?

btw, what about those with old gc, like geforce 5/6 series or ati 9k/x series? they don't have hardware acceleration right?

old gc dont have that feature, eg. 7 series. so have to fully depend on CPU to process.

btw, according to the link i provide, seems only radeon 3k/4k series.

"For graphics processing we need:

* nVidia series 8*, (9)xxx and GTX or newer.
* ATI Radeon HD series 3000 and 4000 or newer" -quote from guru3d

i wonder if ray's x2600xt can run or not. hmm.gif

i see the chart in ati's website before..

@kabukiawie, I'm not sure with that. Hardware acceleration with HD movie playback.I guess i have to PM him and ask for details.The link is showing that HD3xxx and above is able to support but i got other info from AMD website too.
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/gra...-gpu-specs.aspx

@fylon,currently i'm with CoreAVC too. edmin has guided me how to force the mpc to use coreAVC codec. Previously my setting wasn't pointed at coreAVC.

@jcsy,I think you can force the software to use coreAVC codec to play HD movies. Did you set that?

@dlwl,
yes HD2xxx series has avivo but i have no idea how to use it.Lolz

Added on July 2, 2009, 1:35 pmHi all,correct link for Sapphire HD2600XT AGP is here.

no harm trying the method. last time even ed's also can play 1080p with his 7600 with coreavc. so if really cant apply that method, coreavc is the only way. smile.gif

@ray, one more possibility that your HD files not running smoothly maybe caused by the HD files is not encoded in H.264. If encoded in xvid, then your CPU will have a hard time keeping up with the processing. H.264 can be accelerated by GPU but not others.

i m very sure your configuration is not right. reinstalling coreavc will not help you at all as MPC is not loading coreavc in the first place.

I need to correct this statement is is pretty misleading. Coreavc is utilising CUDA to accelerate it's own decoding/computing engine, since it is not tapping into DXVA directly. if your MPC is configured to run DVXA acceleration (guide available @ guru3d), then the GPU power is already being harnessed to decode h.264 wink.gif

CoreAVC is not a must have when u have hardware acceleration. CoreAVC's function is to decrease CPU workload in decoding H.264 files when a hardware accelerator is not available. The worse thing about CoreAVC is....it's not free sweat.gif

Take a look of the print screen of this guy's rig. He was capable to play 1080P video playback with low cpu usage.

Added on July 1, 2009, 5:22 pm@fylon,i'm not sure what are the process and codec use to decode and encode a movie.It's kind of completed,all i know is my rig now is playing 720p smoothly. tongue.gif

@Ray, you can also achieve similar results. Dump your coreavc, just install latest Klite mega codec pack. following the guide on Guru3D, enable the DVXA acceleration. Coreavc is still computing on your CPU. Using DVXA, it will run entirely on GPU.

Guys,you can try MPC Home Cinema.I PMed the guy and he said he was using MPC Home Cinema. He said coreAVC isn't going to utilize the hardware acceleration.

do post here what are the settings that he used.
there must be something wrong with my mpc, i tested with 1080p video+coreavc, my c2d cpu usage is hovering around 50%
*
bro, if u dump coreavc and use dvxa entirely, i can guarantee you seeing immediate drop in CPU usage. Unless you are using CoreAVC 1.9.5.0, that has the ability utilise CUDA on your 8800GT card (processing assisted by GPU from coreavc). Oh, make sure you have installed the latest driver with updated CUDA.
