@ray
is like spread butter on bread style, if you have steady hand, this method can have full contact on cpu. wink.gif

@dlwl
i think 1 line will be ok already. as quad core cpu having all cores near middle. put too much will bring more harm than good

For dual cores is one straight line vertically whereas for quad cores its a straight line horizontally. laugh.gif

Afternoon time spent a few hours to inspect my crap 2600XT ori cooler,reapply thermal paste still giving the same performance like before. The main point of it is the heat is exhausting at the rear GC itself.Stupid design from ATI. Changing the cooler to Cool Viva normal version with 1 heatpipe gave the worsen reading,temp shot up to 70+ C during idle. It is easy to climb to 80+ in a while. doh.gif doh.gif

I used this mobo before,this mobo is super stable without and issue. Cons is it can't be o/ced.

intel mobos are really bad at it rite.. laugh.gif
do they oc a lil bit only or really cant oc at all?
havent tried an intel board before
but other than the oc thingy, i've read reviews, as you said, they're stable and good for normal usage, or for users who aren't into oc-ing.

intel mobos are rock solid and have minimum adjustments made available to users. that also means totally no overclocking functions, except skulltrail.

Nope,Intel 975X mobo can o/c too. Intel 865PERL can make adjustment only on RAM settings,nothing more.

Nope,don't use the AI Overclocking from Asus. Overclock manually by trying with the sotck vCore setting. I recommend you to set the RAM to 2.68V for your RAM. Lock the AGP and PCI ratio with a fix value.

@bai

Check using CPU-Z, check under memory section. See whether ur ram is unning on 1:1 / 3:2 or which ever value it shown.

Go to ur mobo manual. Read how to set ur ram divider so that the ram stays at 400mhz n no more. Usually OCs fail due to the ram or PCI not locked.

1:1 wont be able to get high if you have normal value, unless you grab some gem chipset(forgot what chipset tongue.gif ) then you will be able to get high. currently i using the same mobo as well. if using 4:5 you should be able to get something like 230fsb.

kabu,there are some gems for P4 like Hynix D43 & BT-J series, TCCD and others. There is one crazy chip which needs 3.0V+ to run in high FSB,forgot the name though.
