The best tutor you can find about ROM flashing, radio, hard sply, uspl - at the forum.xda-developers.com. Take some time reading it - it is not really that technical. I am a 50+ year old man and has being learning all these from this site. Youngster who is definately more enterprising and adventurous I believe will learn faster than me

Anyone can comment on which GPS software suits malaysia country for our HTC Touch HD?

Is Garmin XT Mobile maps accurate for malaysian roads? What about others? Please put down your experience on using GPS on HTC Touch HD in Malaysia.

@ fakerdemit, benny888 is right...xda-developer forum is the best site for you to learn bout flashing ROMs for HD...like i posted earlier, there even has a wiki page on HD where you can find all the information you ever need...just take your time in flashing ROM, don't do it just because others are doing it...it's not that you get any prizes for flashing your HD fast...as there's risk when flashing, it's very important that you understand the instruction well, else you might get yourself into trouble...

for my opinion..i have Garmin Xt and MapKing2007 in my HD
after using it...i found that Garmin XT has more detail on map but will lag 2-3 seconds
but for Mapking, the map is not so detail but it will not so lag as Garmin XT
this is what i found after using them
y dont u install both in ur HD n try use them urself? biggrin.gif

What help do you need? I am prepared to guide provided that you are more specific with what you want to do with your HTC HD.
Install application programs? Tools? Flash? I don't do games wink.gif

as ur SPL is current, juz use USPL v2.5 and then use the RUUWrapper or flash the new ROM from ur SD Card..

congrats!! rclxms.gif  do u mind reporting how does Dutty's 3.3XT perform in terms of battery life, bugs u found etc compared to 3.0XT? I'm on 3.0 currently. so far everything seems good (it's my first cooked ROM). downloaded 3.3 already but will only flash this weekend because too many things to do and i need the phone to work.

battery life so far so good, but with radio ver. 1.14.25.24, of course it's a bit power hungry.. tongue.gif

however, radio is better with this ROM although i was using radio ver. 1.14.25.24 before with Davideuck's WM6.5 V7.. GPS is better, more responsive, less lagging using GMXT.. call is clearer, even got extra bar in my room (normal only 2 bar, now stable at 3 bar)..

OS wise, personally, it's the most stable and most responsive i've used.. and this is the EXTREME version of Dutty's V3.3.. even memory usage at 60% it's still responsive.. when dialing using the virtual keypad, it's like instant response, no lag at all.. same with Manila, very fluid.. almost like iPhone.. tongue.gif and the crazy rotation problems with Flip-it is also gone.. i'm loving the bluetooth explorer program, u could access other phones internal and external memory with your HD (with permission of course).. rclxms.gif

well, so far so good.. will keep on updating my verdict.. biggrin.gif

How to Flash
You MUST read carefully, Basics and Other Flashing Tools

Dummies guide for flashing ROM and THIS

Download Dutty 3.3 ROM from here.

You need to download blac_uspl.exe which is the USPL program. This program usually comes with Dutty's ROM package. If you can't find it go to Dutty 2.8 ROM to get it.

Go thru the above three posts and you will be ready to flash. Make sure you fully understand the instructions before you proceed. Do not rush. wink.gif

the blac_uspl.exe doesn't come with Dutty's RUU_BlackStone_Duttys_WWE_V3.3_XT_MSVC_Radio_52.64 .25.34_1.14.25.24_Ship.. u need to download it separately.. if there's an error while extracting the black_uspl.exe downloaded from the link given, try other links.. cos mine was deemed corrupted (downloaded 4 times still the same).. smile.gif

for 4agze's case, all he needs is just the USPL v2.5 and Dutty's V3.3.. run the USPL then run the RUUWrapper, hard reset, and ur done.. smile.gif

If you are flashing stock ROMs found on HTC site then it is ok...it quite simple....no need for those HSPL and USPL so it's a much simpler process...

(Touchwood) If you did something wrong when flashing, as long as you can go into that bootloader screen, then your HD is still in "good shape"...

come on HTC mana new official ROM...even Taiwan has the new 1.59 ROM...

at first i have the same thought as you.. but looking at the features of the cooked ROMs is so tempting (which of course u will never get it on stock ROMS).. i play with my stock roms, tweaking and installing apps to test how far this WM device can perform as this is my first PDA phone.. after a few bugs and hard resets i decide to flash cooked roms and yes, XDA forums is always a good help.. we can always revert back to stock spl and roms for warranty purpose..
