Hi guys,

I'm new user here. biggrin.gif  I just own this HTC HD recently. Just wonder any player can play all kind of file (.mkv;.avi;.rmvb;..h264;.mhd;.mp4 and etc ). I tried core player but it "LAGS" like hell rclxub.gif . I try Video converter v 1.21 ... It takes times inspite it's an alternative solution (I dunno how to add subtitle in it....).
*
you could try this video encoder from XDA: Click here

been using it to convert a few videos from .avi and .mov and it's playing smoothly on HD using the HTC album / WMP...

edit: You can go here on how to improve the video playback on your HD.

oh, i visited the site, it's great, but it seemed there is too much apps, utilities to be download . i don't know which one to choose, can anyone recommend a good freewares, utilities ?

and btw, what is flash new ROM means ?
heh, im such a noob
*
Go here.
It contains all the information you need to know bout HD...

Speaking of flashing, I'm still waiting for the new official...mostly give positive feedback on the new 1.56 / 1.57 ROM, want to try it before flashing to cooked ROMs since I need the updated SPL anyway...but it seem to take forever to be released and another downside: no new manila V3 in those official 1.56 / 1.57 ROMs...

well KayK... if you get to download the official release rom... please do send me a copy... i cannot donwload from the website.....

eh btw manila v3 what is that ah....
Seriously i don't recommend people to flash your rom.. if you're not sure what you're doing....

additional point.. flasing your rom = formatting your HD and put in new operating system... its like changing your computer from windows XP to windows Vista
*
sure i'll let you know when it's available in HTC SEA...Official ROM for HK 1.57.831.1 (with radio version 1.14.25.24) is available for download since April 28th, so i do hope it will be soon for SEA area as well...

danlegion, just to make sure is your HD "branded"?...cause mine is sort of "branded" to StarHub although i got my HD during PC Fair although a check in SiS website stated that my warranty is valid in Malaysia...so the official ROM that I need will have StarHub thingy, and might not be suitable with your HD...

you don't have to be too worry bout flashing if you are flashing to an official ROM...it's much simpler than flashing cooked ROMs...making HD work faster and more efficient is worth all the trouble you may encounter when flashing...

ai yo, DrWho, Windows Vista not that bad... sweat.gif

When you want to flash to the new roms Dutty ver 3 and above, you must always do the uspl step first. I am now on ver 3.3 xt and so far no serious issue found yet
*
or you can use hspl 1.56 olinex...

new official ROMs uses new SPL that why some encounter the green screen when they flash the ROM using the old hspl 1.14 olinex...that also the main reason why i'm holding out for the new official ROM before flashing to cooked ROMs, i want the new SPL 1st...cant wait to try the new TF3D, the videos in youtube is really making me drool.gif

@ danlegion, you dont have to worry bout original ROMs, you can also get it through HTC website, just go to the country, key in your s/n number and it will show you the ROMs available for your HD...

USPL or HSPL? IMO those whom have not yet flashed before, USPL is an easier way.
USPL>Stock ROM 1.57>USPL>Latest Cooked ROM,eg Dutty 3.3

USPL process is only a few second. biggrin.gif
*
i'm thinking of using USPL but since it is require to flash to a official stock 1.56 / 1.57 ROM then only can flash to new cooked ROMs, so i just wait for the official new ROM for my area...i can test out the new ROM before flashing to cooked ROMs...

I'm using visual studio 2008 Service Pack 1 on windows vista ultimate (going to develop a G-sensor media player for HD soon smile.gif )
BTW does a hard reset reverts back all the rom we flahsed? sorry no experience in pda rom flash

Added on May 6, 2009, 9:50 am

The prob is i cannot download from HTC website :S
*
how come? if you dont mind me asking, you bought an AP set? do you at least know where your HD originated? HD wiki @ xda-developers did list out a list of official ROMs (including different language as well) released so far, you can check there and download the appropiate ROM for your HD...

its shipped from MEA.. put in my serial number also cannot in MEA site... so nvm... big time i'll use a cooked rom... no issue lor
*
cant seem to find the official ROM for MEA in xda...i guess the only way is to use cooked ROMs...a check to HTC MEA there's a ROM update for Egypt, it's possible that there's no ROM for the S/N number you entered...

@ fakerdemit, benny888 is right...xda-developer forum is the best site for you to learn bout flashing ROMs for HD...like i posted earlier, there even has a wiki page on HD where you can find all the information you ever need...just take your time in flashing ROM, don't do it just because others are doing it...it's not that you get any prizes for flashing your HD fast...as there's risk when flashing, it's very important that you understand the instruction well, else you might get yourself into trouble...

again ... still if your phone is still under warranty DO NOT Flash it... its true dont flash your hd just other ppl are flashing and saying dutty is good... i'm still going for my stock rom atm....
*
If you are flashing stock ROMs found on HTC site then it is ok...it quite simple....no need for those HSPL and USPL so it's a much simpler process...

(Touchwood) If you did something wrong when flashing, as long as you can go into that bootloader screen, then your HD is still in "good shape"...

come on HTC mana new official ROM...even Taiwan has the new 1.59 ROM...

Hi Kayk,

In fact I 'm using this..... and fact is... it take times !

Say...7 hours to convert 700 mb and sometime it just hang when reach 2/3 cry.gif

I'm rather to looking for solution like core player (but it lags)to play back all those file.

For some reason I believe coreplayer can be customizable to support hardware acceleration I just tried out all the option but in vain  rclxub.gif perhaps some expert here can share on their setting?  icon_question.gif

I wonder What bout others HD owner.. Do you guys really "CONVERT" ? or better solution (support hardware acceleration while playback).
sorry to hear that...so far i havent try to convert such big files, usually all the files i convert are MVs...

can anyone let me know which one is better?? HTC touch HD or X1?? cos i plan to buy either one of these two phones. Just want to know some important advice and suggestion in order to choose one of these two phones smile.gif
*
this can be very subjective, both has it's own pros / cons...before deciding why dont you try out both? you wont really get a definite answer because the decision is entirely up to you...

if you have the chance, go to those window mobile roadshow...there's have plenty of window mobile phone for you to play with...

i recommend going to xda forum (other than reading HD and X1 thread in LYN) and read some threads that can give you some ideas of what you can expect from both devices...other than that read some online / magazine reviews on these phones can help you to decide too...

check this out! some thing new for HD. mirror screen protector.

official site
*
let me know you are really getting it...not cheap but anti scratch surface that offer protection against fingerprint, scratches and dusts, what more can you want...

if you have post this slightly earlier, i would have gotten this instead of the HTC leather flip case for HD (which cost RM130)...the plastic with metallic coating case really make the HD look drool.gif

Newbie in PDA stuff. I just got this phone and there is a few question that i want to ask.

When your battery is low, does the phone tend to go slower?

What is this? (flash to duttys 3.4) Is it a processor? How can i check what processor that i am using now?

On top of the phone, there is a bar that shows what is program s running, does the (Active Sync) always running?

What is the memory running thing on top of my post? Is it the one that shows the %, mine is at 50. I dunno why even after i close the program after i use it still show at the bar that is running thus using my memory space making the pda hang or slows.

Sorry for so many question, just bought the phone 1 week and new to pda gadget.
*
1. According to my experience, i didnt feel the phone going any slower even when the low battery warning pops up.

2. Duttys 3.4 is among the wide cooked ROMs that you can flash to Touch HD. For more information on flashing ROMs, please check xda-developers website. To check which processor you have go to: Home --> Settings --> all settings --> system --> device information --> hardware: you can check your processor here, which is QUALCOMM 7201A. In Device Information, you can check which ROM is currently installed in your HD.

3. By default, ActiveSync is running most of the time. Even if you "x" it, it will still pops up...again you can search in xda-developers website for solution.

4. The % shows the percentage memory used. Some programs even if you press the "x" it might still be running in the background. You can search for some programs that can help to clear your memory.

Do yu mind further explain on which is is better in your own preference and which 1 can solve lag issue of our phone?

Sorry ah very newbie, xda website also too complicated for me

And where do you guys dl your game? Our pda do not have any direction button so there is many game is not suitable for us cry.gif
*
Since you said that xda is a bit complicted for you, i think you better dont flash to custom ROMs. A wrong step and you might cause yourself lots of problem...worst you might even brick your HD...

I'm still using the stock ROM that come with HD (yes, i'm still waiting for that new official ROM, HTC SEA are you listening?) and i dont think it is that slow till it's unbearable...

Guys Im having a weird problem. I was using my device with an 8 gb SD card without any problem. Then, my device had some problems so I sent it back and they exchange one for me. Now im still using the previous 8gb SD card. When I put my SD card into this new device, it cannot read it. Not even from Active Sync.  But I tested the card with my Samsung Omnia and the card is working fine in the Omnia. All this while Im using the stock 1.14 ROM. I dont have other SD card so I couldnt troubleshoot the problem. My question is, anyone else having this problem? is it possible that my device is faulty hence cannot read the SD card?
*
since you mentioned that the SD card is readable in Omnia, most probably the SD card is not faulty...do you have a card reader? try to use a card reader to test the SD card, if working properly then make a backup copy of whatever files you have inside and format the SD card. After formatting, try it on your HD...

Ok i put the sd card into my PC card reader it can read the card no problem. I performed a full format on it, to become a virgin again. But same case, cannot read card from phone. I tried with other SD card also , same problem also. If this is cased by faulty part, anyone here knows if this a small matter and can be repaired easily?
*
my guess is that there's some faulty part(s) with your HD...looks like you will need to send in for service for the second time...hopefully it's not a big problem (example, there's no need to exchange the mainboard or anything like that), HTC service centre should be able to fix your problem within the same working day...

Already performed a hard reset. with stock rom 1.14.
Usually if it is only a small problem can it be fixed within a day? or it is their policy to check, veirfy or process that will take a few days even only if problem can fixed in a day?
*
no experince yet with HTC service centre, but I believe it shouldn't take that long, as I have sent my previous Nokia phone to service and it took them around 3 hours to fix it...

maybe others who went to HTC service centre / SiS office before can give their comment...
