aiyo.. early this morning i pwn my iphone using pwnage tool 3.0. All going smooth and after that i restore using the custom fw. After finish all back up my iphone, i noticed that my iphone cant detect network. I try restart many time.. eject and insert sim, change sim from celcom, maxis.. Still same thing happen.. Anyone facing the same thing like mine when pwnning? Now i restore back my iphone.. Dont know what is the best solution..

Mate, did you upgrade to 3.0 when there's no ultrasn0w available? Pwnagetool will not help you retail your baseband at 2.28.00 on LOCKED iPhone 3G.

Unless you're talking about an official unlock iPhone 3G unit.  You're no suppose to allow "Activate the phone" thus giving you no service or enable to detect network. Untick the "Activate the phone" and you'll be fine.

Mine is singtel unlock.. Oic.. But now mine iphone are in rejailbreak process after restore. Ill report if it works. Untick the activate right..

em, thats correct, by the way i think there is nothing wrong if he want to restore using xp because the custom restore is somehow like the original firmware, just that the firmware have been custom made where it was pre-installed with cydia etc.
last saturday i have restore my iphone 2 times using the same custom firmware i have made and after i restore everything works fine for me( expect youtube which i think it was my connection problem in my house) but i restore it using my mac and i dont open any pawnage tools during the restoration.

i believe it was the same if your friend use his xp because the custom firmware is still a firmware and it can be restore using either mac or xp.

anyway give it a try and do let us know so that we all can gain knowledge regarding restoration using custom firmware in xp(maybe there an info from google but better we do it our self to try it out.)

i use redsn0w to jailbreak my unit( ichi hand want to try it/plus wanto to restore because want to check if youtube app problem or my line problem) and since the firmware took about 414mb space now my iphone only have around 58mb of free space to install cydia app haha...(because i have install some cydia app on my iphone)

last time i use pawnage i set root directory up to 600MB  . maybe next time i will use bosstools to resize my root directory size when it fulls.

Not to show off...my iphone is a virgin and i have zero idea on how to jailbreak, unlock, upgrade to os3 etc....I read and read, and plan and plan....and so far i only ask two questions to this forum to find out a bit more.

Now...i got my iphone upgrade to os3, itunes to 8.2, redsnow to jalbreak, downloaded some stuff from cydia, download iphone browser....and my iphone is still working properly.

People READ!!!!! I find it funny that some say "i have upgrade my phone to os3 using redsnow"....what?? How the hell you do that.

Anyway, Thanks a lot, David for sorting all these resources and it was a great help. I am still reading and trying to understand OpenSSH. Still can't figure out what it is use for...in plain english...sigh. Will try to understand it tonite.

I just got an iphone 3G from the US and I was trying to unlock it so that it can be used here in Malaysia. My iphone 3G firmware is 2.2.1 (5H11) and modem firmware is 02.30.03 out of box. I have browsed through many tutorials and I have made a conclusion that with my version of firmwares out of box, I can't unlock it without modifying the "hardware". Am I right? Could anyone confirm with me again? What do I need to do to unlock it so that I can use it with Maxis?

I really hope to unlock it or else it will just like an ipod touch.

i just spoke to a guy selling turbo sim from lelong.com.my. i was enquiring about the turbo sim for v2.2.1 baseband 2.30.03 and he told me that he can update the software to os3.0 and unlock the phone.he claims that he's the only one who can do it now...is that true that u can do it now?as far as i'm concern u can't do it now right...

i am not sure izzit me alone facing this problem? i tried to jailbreak with redsnow seems i stuck at waiting for reboot afetr dfu mode. It seems not only me facing it when i googled it. and barely i found any solution..Can any of you fixed that problem show me the light ?

Perhaps i should wait for quickpawn..
