Mine works fine. Instead, using wifi connection to ssh to my iphone. Both laptop and my iphone is in the same network.

Im facing "Unexpectedly Error" while creating custom firmware using Pwnage Tool.

- Using G5 PPC
- Creating custom fw for iphone 2nd gen.


* I understand only redsnow will affect if using PPC(Not Intel Base). Is Pwnage Tool affect too?

Yes, PwnageTool can't run on PPC yet. However we already have a fix for that issue and will be releasing a new PwnageTool version for that in a day or 2.

What happens if redsn0w hangs at "Waiting for reboot..."?

If it is the very first "Waiting for reboot..." and either Windows or Linux is the operating system, then all you have to do is unplug and replug in the iphone. This is a problem generally caused by using a USB hub instead of directly plugging the iPhone into the computer.

If it is the SECOND "Waiting for reboot...", this is a known issue. Occasionally the second iBSS crashes. Dev Team have not yet been able to ascertain the reason. Exit out of redsn0w. You must turn off the iPhone and then re-enter DFU mode using the normal steps. Then, re-run redsn0w 0.3. It will probably work then.

jailbroken iphone still can run/sync with itunes 8.2. i have tried my self,and yes the only way for you to use the OS3 is to install itunes 8.2, OS3 cannot be installed if you use 8.1( correct me if I'm wrong)...

basically if we want to snyc our iphone using itunes,there nothing prolem about it but if want to manually ssh/snyc the phone must be jailbroke first.

great news to iphone2g out there...

To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)

hi,

i am having an unlocked iphone 3G, OS 2.2, JB-ed and quickpwn-ed

i recently upgraded to 3.0, and made a huge mistake by installing a certain patch.
now my phone doesn't boot up after the apple logo, and itunes 8.2 doesn't recognize my phone in recovery mode.

i've exhausted all means of salvaging the phone. anyone else have any idea what to do with it?

You DON'T have to use Firefox or any other web browser just to download the IPSW file, using your Safari go to Preferences and untick

Open "safe" files after downloading

to ensure that the zip file stays together and not unbundled. Make sure it's unticked before you download the file or you'll have to endure another long download again as Safari only recognizes the option after the download is finished. my question is, can i use itune in windows xp to restore d iphone 3g using d custom build firmware from pwnagetool?

for the time being the ultrasn0w still not yet release, you have to wait for the ultrasn0w in order to unlock the phone.

im not sure about that, i think it should be ok be ok since you have create another firmware for your iphone. anyway why dont just restore it using mac since you have create the firmware there.

and its better to use redsn0w because so far for me i use redsn0w and somehow i feel smoother than pawnage(maybe my imagination only).
