any digi user here can use iphone internet tethering connect to PC??

have you tried this tethering tutorial by iClarified should work.

Im a Digi user on 3GS 3.0 firmware, tethering works fine. The above should work for u too.

Help Need. Follow the step to update my 3G iphone(Locked, from US that run with 3.0 jailbreaked and unlocked with Ultresnow and no problem using it) to the 3.2.1 firmware (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw), with iTune version 9. (Shift+ restore), the problem is after complete it do prompt me tht the Simcard is invalid and ask me to insert the valid sim card to activate the iphone. I am stuck here. Try to downgrade it back to ver 3.0 and it give me the error msg halfway of the update using the redsnow 0.8v. Had try a lot of ways, using the redsnow with 3.0 firmware and also 3.2.1 firaware end up with asking me to insert valid sim card to activate the iphone, seem that the cydia is not install into my iphone either with the 3.0 or 3.2.1 firmware. I am run out of idea, can anyone help me to solve this. Now it is always prompt me the insert sim card to activate iphone. How can I jailbreak it/ activate it and then only I can unlock it.

Any adivse and help are welcome.

Maybe I should ask
How can I downgrade/change my firmware to 3.0 with cydia. I have tried several time, with itune and redsn0w 0.8v using the 3.0 firmware ( iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw).

Note :-
Using iTune update restore the 3.0 firmware it do giving me the error msg half way the update
Using the redsn0w 0.8v the cydia installation fail.(Complete the uploading process and not the installation of the cydia, did not show the pineapple graphic. after the harddisk graphic then go restart and give me the insert sim to activate screen)
Both process also giving me the insert valid sim card to activate iPhone.

i using 3GS 3.1.2... cant run internet tethering...no install any jalibreak... very confuse bout the link.....

I am using Celcom. After I key-in info for the APN and MMS setting, small camera icon appears and there is option to turn it on and off

im using maxis iphone 3gs. im not sure if i should jb my iphone, i wan to jb mainly coz i need to download files on safari, winterboard n free app. but at the same time im scared that jb will cause damage to phone itself. please advise

CYcorder doesn't support 3Gs.

what damage u talk bout? i dun c jb can do any harm provide u not install any malicious app lah.

there is no such thing as damaging ur phone if JB....u can explore more if u JB ur phone and know the true potential of ur phone....

Hi All,
This is on the 3g iphone. I am now stuck at the insert Sim card to activate Iphone error. Even I had try to restore the firmware and seem that the cydia cannot be install into the device. It happen after I update the firmware from 3.0 to 3.2.1. (Window mode using the iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw). I had tried:-

a) Restore to firmware 3.0 with iTune(v8 and v9). Fail to do, half way the restore process, prompt me an error.
b) Restore to firmware 3.0 with Redsn0W v0.8, complate but did not install cydia(not seeing the pineapple screen). reboot and get back to the same error(insert Sim to activate)
c) jailbreak with the blackra1n and complete all the process(no error) but still go back to insert valid sim card to activate Iphone screen.



What can I do next and what went wrong on the process? Please help..............

where is your phone from?
officially unlock phone?

if it's not , then you are doom ..

by damage i mean harm to the phone. if i jb, is it possible it crashes the system alot in the future? i havent experienced any app crash so far with the jailed one. i will lose my 1 yr warranty with maxis if i jb? and is it i can restore the phone to original state anytime i want?

It is not an unlock phone, previouly unlock with ultrasn0w. What happened? How can restore it?
I am not update with the Apple firmware but I am using this to (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw) do the update.
What can I do now? Please help............


Any way for me to jailbreak it without a AT&T sim card? Should I update the firmware to Apple original firmware?
It is now always on the insert sim car to activate iphone screen.

yes u can restore anytime u want.....i only installed the apps that i used most...winterboard,bitesms,swirlymms,make it mine,sbsetting,ultrasn0w and ifile...and my phone only crash once because of the new FW 3.1.2...mobilesubstrate have problem back than...and now stable as usual...dun worry...update always there in cydia@icy@rock....u can know ur phone better and know how to overcome the problem. . if u feel not worth JB u can stick to ur jailed phone....unless u want more variety

If its officially unlock, then you could just go to iTunes, and connec it to the internet, and voila, the iPhone would be unlocked as simple as that.

Even if you update it to the original firmware, i guess it would still be locked, because your set is not officially unlocked by the service provider. Or is it because of the baseband has been updated. You should have checked the iPhone Jailbreak thread before you have done your upgrading.

I followed the step listed there. DL the custome firmware (iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw) and do the restore (Shift+ Restore) thru iTune and get stuck at here. Does this update the baseband? What can I do know? Waiting for the jailbreak on he latest baseband? I am unable to confirm the baseband. Anyway to confirm the baseband if the phone always in insert sim card error?
I am ok if no phone fuction and only can be use like ipod for time being, but now it is totaly cannot use.

The possible is there to crash the filesystem IF you installed 3rd party apps that does not compatible with your current firmware.
2 years ago when I was using 2G, I installed alot of 3rd party apps and suddenly my phone will crash/will not boot. So in this case, I just restore it as new phone and start from scratch.

You won't lose your warranty within one year period. In case your iPhone facing any problem, just restore back to its original state and claim for warranty.

Added on October 27, 2009, 4:32 pmIt depends on apps. If it is not compatible, you might facing app crash (will not run) or your phone will stuck at Apple's Logo whenever you restart your iPhone.

"back than" a few weeks ago lol... So now the apps and extenstion files have been update... So it will not crash for now...my phone has been totally stable since the update from cydia...u must now what are u going to install... And mind that to have a look at the forum or google it to search regarding software that u want to install. With those apps on my 3gs with jb fw3.1.2 working great. Stable than fw 3.0 JB. Simple way to JB is by using Blackra1n...only took u 40 second to JB
