sorry to bring up old thread. didnt feel like opening a new one
im looking for a firewire-to-usb charger cable. as u might know, older ipod accessories with a built-in charger doesnt work with the newer ipods (after ipod touch 2g, ipod nano 4g n iphone 3g). so far i only know of griffin charger converter and scosche passport, but the griffin is discontinued and i dont know where to purchase either one locally. any help?
the reason is because im using an alpine head unit for my car, with the kce-422i cable. it works with my ipod touch 1g, but im planning to get an iphone 4 which wont be compatible. alpine has their own kcx-422tr but it is ridiculously expensive

For first time charging the iphone, must charge for 8 hours? I found that there still got remaining power, how about i use it until battery low then only start to charge for 8 hours?

maxis told u that?
when i bought from At&T in US and o2 in UK they never said anything like that. just charge till full.
usually people need to charge a few cycles before battery reaches it's optimum daily performance.

Charge for few cycles mean charge for longer time frame?
In your situation, that's mean i not need to charge for 8 hours for 1st time? Just charge until full enough?

Actually, i went to Machines the first day i got my iphone, and those peoples told me to charge 5 hours for the first time (without finishing the battery beforehand). I'll trust the peoples in Machines more than the peoples in Maxis regarding the phone. XD

no worries.
overcharging doesn't happen with apple iphones. they just cut off the charging once it's 100%. try pegang ur iphone during charge (gonna be warm) and after 100% (it's not gonna be warm at all)

QUOTE(rstusa @ Sep 28 2010, 02:05 PM) That's mean battery haven't finish using can simply plug in to charge? yes, its better that way A lithium-ion battery provides 300-500 discharge/charge cycles. The battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible. Instead, charge the battery more often or use a larger battery. There is no concern of memory when applying unscheduled charges.

Laptop also using lithium-ion battery, but always encourage by other not to charge the laptop battery if still got power remaining, it will reduce the life span. For nokia phone, if half way charge the battery also not good right?

Apple said we can keep our iphone plugged in although it's fully charged. no harm to it.
I am not sure about the speed difference between PC USB and Wall charger but one thing I am sure is that you can charge 2 TIMES faster using iPad wall charger.
