Guys, Li-ion batteries life is based on charge cycle, reducing the cycle means extending its usable life.

It is considered a cycle once battery is depleted like say went down to 20% remaining charge...and charging it back to 100%.

To reduce the cycle, charge it when battery is still above 50%. It would not be considered a cycle if u do this and will prolong battery life.

For low to average user, charging it daily is good nuff.....how many hours u charge is fine so long as its at least 1.5 to 2 hours or more....when the battery is fully charged, the charging circuit will turn to trickle charge and that would take care of the battery n not overcharging it.

Perfectly fine to charge it b4 going to bed and remove from charge when u wake....typically around 4 to 8 hrs la.

For new iP4, the first few days of use & charge would not be accurate to guage the battery performance.....its battery can only perform optimally after a first few charge.

i always thought that overcharging is bad coz....

12am - 50% left - Charging
1am - 100% full - iphone auto stop overcharging
2am - 99% - 1% was used. Since its still plugged in, BEGIN charging
2:10am - 100% full - iphone auto stop overcharging
3am - 99% - 1% was used. Since its still plugged in, BEGIN charging
and repeat....

oh well

ohh.... so if u always work in 1 day, does it mean that keep the phone connect with a powerpoint will be a better idea? the phone battery will always maintain at 100% and pluck it out whenever going out... can protect the battery wise and no need worry ran out of battery at outside =) if i wrong pls enlighten me

Did you mean keep charging the battery even though the battery still haven't finish? I thought doing this will harm the battery. And i thought must use until finish first then only to charge the battery.

any average joe who knows nothing about iphones / macs / batteries can work as a salesman at machines, so take their advice with a grain of salt.
