just bought this laptop from pc fair.

but had a bit of problem

I was unable to install my Windows XP Home edition. it can load the setup files properly but when it comes to "Setup is loading windows" and next page is the EULA, it gives me BSOD.

But when i tried with my Windows 7 Premium/ Pro CD, i can format and install it.

Is it because of SATA drivers? where can i find it?

The quality is good. Keyboard is really good for typing.
Worth the every penny I paid for it.

It was mentioned in the brochure that I will receive 3 years warranty but the warranty only till May 2011 which is weird.
Well maybe because i only bought it 2 days ago, so HP will require time to update everything to 3 years?

Else, I will really give them a call and ask about it.

How do you see the warranty is till May 2011? Is it written on anywhere? If you didn't mention this, I would have forgot about the thing about checking whether HP has updated my lappie to 3 years. Hmm..

Allenultra, the paper said u have to fill up a form and fax to compaq within a period of time for the 3 years warranty. BTW, is yours CQ 42 188TX (core i3)? Is the cq 42 reliable than Acer? Are there any major issues? I read that hp came last for the rate of 'returned' faulty laptops.

Mine is CQ42-189tx, yes its core i3.

Major issues? I dun expect any issue from a 4 days old laptop.
I never bought a Acer but if I'm looking for CULV series, I would get a timeline.

Sometime isn't just brand vs brand, to me its more about series vs series.
I dun really trust normal Acer series but timeline, yes!

Bought a CQ40 for my uncle, still working after several months.

My brother Asus, died after 2.5 years usage.

Click HP Assistant. Click "warranty" button at the bottom. And you can see your validity of your warranty.

I got it for RM2699 without the 3 years warranty. I was asked to top up RM99 for the warranty. Grrr. So sad because the place I bought my laptop was the only place that accepts Citibank cards. If not, I would have got it RM2699 including 3 years warranty. So look out for that.
