your lighting seems okay . I'd upgrade the c02 to pressurized though..

About the bacter ball, google it. It actually is a brown ball. throw it into your filter or tank, it'll turn into mush after a few hours.

What I emant about water chemistry is that you should have very low or no ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. and temperature below 28C...

@fongzai,

The ball and the power is the same thing, and Don't clean your filter so often.. you literally kill the beneficial bacteria.. Clean also clean with old tank water.. not tap water..

If you can afford, I would suggest,

Eheim 2211 with JBL/Eheim/ADA bio filter material
Pressure CO2 + Eletronic regulator
PH, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite test kit

Also, try not to over feed the fish, feed them once a week will be enough, I don't feed the fish in my tank, the light attract bugs and they just eat the bug that fall into water.

Filter, I wash it once a month or two only, not every week.

eheim 2213 might be over for 1ft tank if it is not fully planted. actually using what filter is depends on how you plant it. i'm using 2213 for 2ft standard tank only because my tank wasn't fully planted full, go for low tech only.

@ching, nah, it's just my bad habit of over filtration..

Anyhows, @fong,

Even if it is dirty, don't clean too often.. beneficial bacteria won't have enough time to grow.. And you clean with tap water or old tank water?

after reading some article on how planting should be, decided to tear down glosso waiting no more...

this is my last hope for glosso to stay down or else will have another replanting but no glosso again...

started around 930, take out water and left bout 30% so that will be easier for planting. surprisingly water didnt turn tu milky as what im expecting... from carpet to ground zero only took me bout 5mins, then took my own sweet time go select runners for replanting.

took me bout 1 hr to replant everything and put back the water... kautim around 1130
