The FW series claimed they improve a lot over their reverse style hinge.

SONY, I heard a few of bad sharings from my frens as well, but I still get the FW anyway.
1) the VAIO CS user, claim there's something wrong with the fan, sent in 4 times, the problem come back unsolved (few week ago).
2) an ex-admin staff work in the repair centre (Pg), witness the incapability of the technician there (3 yrs ago)

Sometime, u have to personally see the scenario to judge it. Despite of so many DELL fans, my past ex[erience with the DELL XPS is kinda awful too, the build quality, the performance... But I muz say this, DELL after-sale service is splendid!
SONY, no doubt it has the finest material I ever seen, after Apple's.
Goto the show room, see & get a hold of the SONY, then other brands, Acer, Asus, Lenovo, Compaq... u name it.
Feel it, compare it, since the built material is what u can feel/judge on the spot.

Juz my suggestion~

Added on November 9, 2009, 1:26 pmHmm... Sony FW rm3599 (16.4") have a similar spec with NW rm2999 (15.5").

Maybe u can consider this too?
*
Yes, it is true, i own cs16g which i bought it on dec 2008. Up to this moment, i had sent in for 5 times (4 of it was the fan problem). Affected model (admitted by sony) were CS1 series and CS2 series, but i saw some video from youtube that even CS3 series have the same problem.

Seriously i'm damn pissed by this, there are few forums on the net discussing about this problem, and none of them are happy with their cs. This is my first and last vaio i'm going to own

U should gather petition to against irresponsible feedback by SONY instead since it's so obvious a SONY's common defect.

Either they fix the prob, or they recall & replace with a prob-free unit.

Do tell me if u want my fren's contact. I believe she's very glad if u do that~

Added on November 11, 2009, 3:00 amGuys...

I've tried my very best to locate the INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY for my FW purchase in US.
But all in vain.

Seems they not include the INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY in their every sale. I wonder why is that happening to a international company?

Even an ASUS oso providing 2 yrs global warranty.

1 thing I realize, their customer service do not being helpful at all (US side).

Am I getting a VAIO without any proper warranty by the time I bring back to M'sia? It's total madness!!!

There is no such thing as INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY for VAIOs.

However, there are two types of warranty which covers limited countries. One is the VAIO Overseas Service (VOS) and another is the International Repair Service Program (IRSP). VOS is an optional purchase for those non IRSP models such as FW and W series. VAIO P, X, Z, SR and CW is covered with IRSP.

Check for the VOS sticker under your laptop.

user posted image

If no, then so sorry. Your FW warranty will not be honored and you have to fork out extra too when you repair it.
The sticker is the mother of all proof that you have bought/been given a VOS.

I don't know how is Sony USA Ltd policies, but Sony (M) policy is that;

i) VOS cannot be purchased by models with IRSP
ii) VOS cannot be extended. Strictly one year only.
iii) Any VOS claims must be accompanied by a sticker below the laptop.

Thanks very much for sorting my question out.

Guess I'll have to see the unit when my fren bring back it.

It's a big lesson for me to learn this time.

SONY... Sigh~

Yep...should be out in November with Win7 and 2GB RAM for both model.
Estimated street price as below :

P33 = RM2699
P35 = RM3699

BUT battery life still sucks at 2-3 hours only.

er..does anyone knows when is the exact date the new p series will come up? here in Malaysia.. btw do guys think it will perform better and faster with window 7?

Anyone is using the CW series already ? How's the temperature when gaming ?
*
Its warm, not hot.
CODE
"tested temperatures (for CW with 230M, P4750 CPU (2.13 GHz, 1066mhz), 4GB DDR3 RAM): after 30 min of running around in Oblivion CPU cores were ~60C and GPU was 50C." - Fapuse of forum.notebookreview.com

I assume its ranging 50 ~ 65 (worst case).

admit that it cheaper price in US, but the warranty is the drawback when using it in Malaysia, unless you are really eligible for IRSP. Gotta follow official channel.
regarding CS, i already mention that the early batch CS series tends to have fan problem.

feel sorry for ya..
the part inside the notebook is very unexpected to fault. this goes to TZ incident (power plug heat issue).
My C still remain work with no problem (someone in college using it currently) along side with my current Z.

here:
P35:
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 32-bit (English Version)
Intel® Atom™ Processor Z550 (2 GHz, HT Technology supported)

Thats it, the rest same.

as for VAIO X:

VPCX117LG/B (RM5299)
Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 32-bit (English Version)
Intel® Atom™ Processor Z550 (2 GHz, HT Technology supported)
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM (on board)
128 GB (SATA) SSD
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500
11.1" wide (WXGA: 1366 x 768) TFT colour display (VAIO Display Premium, LED backlight)
Bundled Battery: VGP-BPL19 Lithium-ion battery: up to 7.5 hours of use
Weight: 760 g (including the supplied battery)

VPCX113KG/B (RM3999)
Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 32-bit (English Version)
Intel® Atom™ Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, HT Technology supported)
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM (on board)
64 GB (PATA) SSD
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 500
11.1" wide (WXGA: 1366 x 768) TFT colour display (VAIO Display Premium, LED backlight)
Bundled Battery: VGP-BPS19 Lithium-ion battery: up to 3.5 hours of use

Both having same built quality (fully carbon fiber), same screen quality (screen quality as VAIO Z)
The difference between these two is the processor, ssd type and the bundled battery and weight due to battery size.

Bigger and more high end than P.

You can take a look at it at Sony Center/Sony Style.

save the hassle, you can buy it online via sonystyle smile.gif

RM148 , tho admit that delivery duration quite sucks for sonystyle. experienced some delay from them lol.

yes, X series is like brother to the P series.
if you want wide screen visibility, carbon fibre built (instead of magnesium plastic combination material), light and slim, better battery life, go for X series.
the X series doesnt have the dvd-rom/bluray drive.

In US I see there's a better pouch, but with a higher price: USD24.99

Dunno which is better, though, coz I haven't seen both pouches.
