Special feature of NW is the Quick Web-Access & off screen button.

Quick Web Access: Save u from the fussy wait time for booting up Windows. Quick web access allow u to surf web (only) within a few seconds.

Off screen: A button enable u instantly off the screen, saving power (I can do that with blank screen saver, set time to 1min tongue.gif ).

NW now is much better than previous batch, with dedicated vRAM & T6600 processor.
*
CW also has the same feature

Hello, I'm a Sony Vaio CR23 user.
I've changed my OS to window 7 pro 64 bits (from vista home x86). Window automatically settle every single drivers for me (except the memory card driver). It seem like no problem and everything is working fine.
The things is, I can't adjust my brightness through the "Fn plus F5 or F6" anymore and my AV button are all not functioning (those AV mode, Mute, Volume, Capture).
*
I did a clean install of Win7 too and I also dont like those junk application.. xD but, for my FW, i manage to use the combination of FN button edi. Now i can adjust my brightness directly. i just cant use my AV button and S1 button which is not really important for me. I also donno why suddenly can use back the FN button as last time i oso cant use it. Anyway, u can use to reinstall back SonySharedLibary driver and VAIOEventService driver to try out. I am not sure which 1 takes the effect but just install tat 2. =D oh ya, i install the chipset driver oso but i think it is not the 1 tat cause the problem. Good luck on trying =D

Yeah, I did a clean install of Win7 on my P25 and everything works fine except the brightness, volume, and scroll button did not work. Also instant on was gone.
Then I tried to recover back to Vista and perform upgrade to Win7, and have everything working. But I hate there are so many junk apps installed. I removed some but end up everytime i switch on, a Vaio setting window pop up, when I click next it unable to proceed further and give me error. Also tried to stop it from autorun when windows start but unable to do so too... have not find the right service to disable yet...

Now still deciding whether should go with clean install or upgrade. Both are not perfect and I'm having hard time to decide.

Clean install, fast boot up of Win7 HP in less than 1 minute, but unable to adjust brightness and volume, also lost Instant On.
Upgrade, have all features and functions working. But there is too much junk apps that makes the system slower...
*
I do agreed with you. Those junk app. are useless (not really but seldom use). The main concern for me is the Fn and brightness only tongue.gif
Overall it cause no problem for me since I can adjust it through the power management setting (take time get into it, I prefer instantly).

Was using my CS36GJ model just now, loud noise came from the upper left part of the laptop......the area where the ventilating fans are.....

And more vigorous vibration can be felt from that area.......

The laptop can still be used normally but the noise is freaking me out.....
The condition continued for a few minutes then only returned back to normal.......

I wonder what prob can this be??? HDD??? Or the fan???Or anything else???

By the way, I also realized that the CPU usage % is up to 60-80% all the time, eventhough I didn't open any applications......

Just wanna know if any CS model user has experience the same problem as me before.....

My CS36GJ suffer the same thing after 2 months usage vmad.gif , even now the fricking fan sound is still there,no time to sent to Sony Service Center. I think b4 this they do hv announcement about the fans defect problem. doh.gif Maybe next week will sent over to claim warranty. The lcd so far so good, just keep my finger cross.

Hi there, i'm a cs16g owner. To tell you frankly, i have been suffered from this problem for about 11 months, and had been sent to sony service centre for at least 4 times or more. Sony had admitted the fan got problem, but did not mention cs3 series are affected. Recently my fan also start to make same old noise, but this time the noise is very soft and only happens on the first few cycles (have to put my ear near the heat vent to hear). I tried to make my complain to sony several times and today they finally called me and will send a technician to my house to check my laptop (after i wrote something on my email). If everything goes smooth, probably they will replace me a new laptop. finger crossed nod.gif

Hey guys, I am using VGN-75G/N B (Japan based).

I just installed win7 64 bit for my laptop, my VaiO's using Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS 64mb RAM graphic card...

I followed the instruction of this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=428140 . everything went smoothly up to step 8 until i installed the graphic driver in speed mode...

before install, windows automatically get the driver for the card... but it's horrible (8 bit, no memory, and the res. is 800x600)...

then I installed the driver for 64 bit as the thread said

(64bit Nvidia Driver (Pre-modded Nvidia 190.40 Win7 64bit Driver)
http://www.mediafire.com/?5ockryt1tji),

but after the restart, the windows couldnt start... it stucked after the windows logo like forever... black blank screen... then i tried to switch back to stamina mode then the screen become very very dark, cant not see anything...

Now i start to think that the driver isnt suitable for the graphic card... anyone knows this problem please give me help...

Really appriciate...

Added on November 20, 2009, 3:03 amerm.. now things come to this...
I turn on the laptop in speed mode, then safe mode.. I try to install the driver above, it detects the graphics but after installation, when i restart PC, it's still the same, the driver from Geforce 8400M GS turns back to VGA driver...and the screen is horrible...

Dont know what happened to my Laptop? i am using windows 7 7600 OEM..

And 1 more problem, recently, I found out that my laptop got some strange noise, come at the near left hand side, sound like fan got problem, sometimes it even vibrates, especially when I run many programs...

Mine is already finish warranty... so if I want to upgrade my video card is it possible?

sorry cant help much on the gpu driver (hybrid) for VAIO SZ for Windows 7.
anyway, since your notebook are using NVIDIA 8400M GS, i highly suggest you stick on Intel GMA950 only (stamina mode). since the NVIDIA 8400M GS is a defect card, i just dont wanna your notebook become un-useable later. as for installation, my suggestion, try running on stamina mode, install only the Intel GMA driver, but before that clean uninstall for the driver (NVIDIA and Intel GMA).

and you cant upgrade the video card.

Well, have a conversation with sony this morning. They said that if this fan fails again then they will have enough arguement to voice out to the management for the replacement, since they have announced this problem to the public on september. Let's see how it goes. If you hear abnormal fan noise from your cs, dont hesitate and send to sony.

Guys, my SZ75GN also got noise from the left hand side, but it locates at HDD position, not sure it's HDD or fan... any chance that HDD makes sound and also creates vibration?

yes, its possible for HDD to makes sound and create vibration. try to send to service centre for check, if you want. or backup the files always before something happen to HDD (hope not).

yup, agreed...better backup your data 1st..normally when harddisk create loud noise, means time is near..but if u dare, just take out the casing & hav a check..maybe its bcos of dirty processor fan or sumthing..

Yeah, I am planning to get the VPCCW15FG/P. Any opinions of it?
What free gifts is usually included? I am getting conflicting "free gifts" as one shop say I get a nice Sony backpack, another say none.

Which shop you enquire? No backpack? doh.gif
BTW, piece of advice to you; dont fall for the free notebook cooler gimmick. VAIOs doesn't need them at all.
