How about the NW 25 GF? Should we expect an update soon?

Was told the CW will revert to it's usual price of 4499 when it's updated.
*
isn't the RM4499 for the CW18 model? the one with blu ray?

Which specific CW you're talking about?
There are 3 in the market currently, namely the CW15, CW16 and CW18.

Not too sure, asked bout when the CW16 would be updated since it's gonna be obsolete soon and what specs improvement to expect. Was told it should be March the earliest, specs would be most likely I3 processor and it would revert to 4499 price. Maybe someone else has more info?

So is it reasonable to assume that the current price for CW16 (RM3699) will continue until March?

I'm no expert but I would assume so? Unless they drop the price again hmm.gif hmm.gif Was told there's only mainly pink and white stock left, blue has been out of stock for awhile sad.gif

Kinda torn between choosing the CW16 and NW25 now. Can anyone advise on why I should get one over the other?

CW review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Sony-V...ok.23234.0.html

NW review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Sony-V...ok.22021.0.html

1. CW16 is lighter than NW25, and 14' is perfect size for me

2. CW16 is the only laptop i have seen which packs GT230M into a 14', and this GPU can play any current game on the market fluently (not high details of course)

3. CW16 has excellent heat dissipation, i'm surprised that laptop with such powerful GPU can manage heat that well.

The only nice things i like about NW are design and price. But i still go over CW for the nice GPU.

CW16. because:
1. Decent processor. - Low heat, consume less power, better battery life
2. Decent GPU - 512MB dedicated
3. Latest RAM technology - DDR3 1066.
4. LED backlight display

March is simply too late.

CW25 (CW15 replacement) = i3 processor + nVidia GF 310M RM 3,299
CW26 (CW16 replacement) = i5 processor + nVidia GF 330M + 500GB HDD + WXGA++ (1600 x 900) Vaio Display Premium Plus RM 3,999
CW28 (CW18 replacement) = i5 processor + BluRay disc drive + WXGA++ (1600 x 900) Vaio Display RM 4,999

The one quoting you RM4,499 obviously wanna frighten you so that he could clear his inventory as fast as possible. smile.gif

It is safer to assume that the current price for CW16 will continue till while stock last.

----
The next Vaio P is still using Atom Z, but not the Z550. Its using the Z540 (1.86Ghz).

Thanks heaps for the info sweat.gif Was just about to set my mind on getting the CW16. In that case I'd much rather wait for the CW26 or even the CW25. If it's earlier than March that'll be great, any idea on when they're set to hit Sony shelves?

You have every reason not to believe it since its only rumors and I didn't put any links for it. I don't mind at all.

The rumor shall be real only on the launch day of Vaio CW 2x. Lets be patient and look out for the outcome of it.

hey guys, i hv few questions bout vaio w series..like this http://corp.sony.com.my/vaio/vaio_w125.html

my fren just bought it last week

it come with windows 7 starter, now he wanted to upgrade it to win7 home premium..

he called sony service centre to ask on how to upgrade it to win7 starter to home premium, and the operator said he can't, and he also said that win7 starter is design for vaio w series, and if any attempt to upgrade the os will result in possible problems, error, unstable, blablabla and will void warranty..

is it true guys? simply put, can we upgrade win7 starter to premium for w series vaio without those problems mentions above and also without voiding the warranty?

Hmm... so unlucky. sad.gif

Anyway, does she register her laptop online for the extended 3 months warranty?
Sony does offer additional 3 months warranty for free, but one has to do something to get it. One have to register his/her item online within 7 days after purchase.

My advice is, just wait for the replacement model. Its more worth it. You're paying the same price for a much better processor and a newer graphic card (by newer, that doesn't means better in this case).
