I eat in front of my laptop. so yeah, keyboard protector needed if u're gonna get one, get the moshi clearguard. other keyboard protectors, those made of silicon, the texture and fitting makes it hard to type fast. using the moshi for me no difference

Fits the keyboard perfectly with vent holes for heat to escape. The Switcheasy I tried at the shop was terrible though. Horribly thick silicone n doesn't even fit the keyboard nicely. It's like a big fat carpet sitting on top of the keyboard. I got the Capdase in smoked color, very nice as it hides the alphabets nicely without affecting the backlight when u need it. While surfing in public places can key in passwords without ppl seeing what we're typing on the smoked keyboard.

Those who cant touch type can use the backlight. Can see clearly with the light on. Just that when in public places we can turn off the light n keyboard becomes invisible.

QUOTE(wiraone @ May 4 2010, 06:58 AM) If you're using your mbp in the office environment or home, I'll suggest you spend the money on other things. Observing this thread, it seems that many mb or mbp owners spent unnecessarily on things that are not needed. Probably since everyone thought of protecting their expensive toys but at the end of the day find it cumbersome and throw all those away.. Btw, am talking from my own experience here QUOTE(tinkerbel @ May 4 2010, 09:44 AM) @realpesky, No need to get the keyboard protector; U won't use it much - Spend d $ on a proper sleeve instead QUOTE(viper-xs @ May 4 2010, 02:15 PM) Unless you smoke alot in front of your lappie Or eat as well. I remove it only when I need to speed type otherwise it's there (for browsing chatting other casual stuff) From your replies i gather that the keyboard protector are more to protecting from food dropping on it and also spills? Am i right? haha.. all the while i thought it was to protect from dust and stuff.. Since i'm buying it online i'm planning to get it with the incase neoprint sleeve for the 17" one. Is it good or there are better options?

Good part would be those holes that vents out all those hot air. Still if I need to type fast I would need to remove it as it feels way better typing and hearing the thing click compared to when using the keyboard protector

@ironrashid I think many backpacks are waterproof.. Maybe you can look for those for sports like nike/adidas/etc im sure they are waterproof...
If I on my backlight for my MBP it seems the holes between the keys are quite big and dust can easily make its way into the keyboard... Or does it look big but shouldnt be a problem for dusts? Just wondering..

Best advice I can give is find a zip-on that can fit your laptop and put it in your backpack with the zip-op facing downwards. seals better as backpack have zip and that's one weak point. Might not look fancy but then again who fancy a soaking lappie right

There is a simple solution, just get a backpack which is non water proof, then at the same time get another water proff backpack cover for it. Im sure those selling camping stuff will have that type of cover...
