QUOTE(xtreme_paranoid) wah..really2 interesting xtreme_paranoid, where are you? You can get it from Sg. Buloh nursery. Or you can get it from some hobbyist as well. If interested, I can spare some to you as well. Most of CP can tahan hot temperature, especially drosera, VFT and sarrasenia. If you sit side by side with my plant at my garden for half an hour, you may get sunburn!!!! I stay at Ampang area.where it is available for sale? i think my area not have this kind of 'Carnivourous Plants' QUOTE(Ah_Chuan) hi, i'm totally zero in this knowledge. wat happened if my finger touched their trap? will they bite me? r their teeth strong? they feed on anything as long as flesh? Ah_Chuan, you refer to venus fly trap (VFT), right? Those teeth are not hard. But, it is strong enough to trap insect that pass by the trap and touch 2 of their sensor. We can feed blood worm, or any insect that can fit to their trap. QUOTE(toda6866) im v interested in these plants, esp my trip 2 cameron recently! saw lots of sp. of carnivor plants n they looked fascinating, somthing diff lor anyway, i was worried dat time if i buy it back it will not last bcoz of diff temp. toda6866, so you got any CP from there? If you got plant from there, don’t worry; slowly expose it to more sun. If can, pack it in transparent plastic beg and open it slowly everyday so that it can adopt to yours environment. If you know where is YG Park. You must pay them a visit. The best is, u know people inside the nursery. They able bring u to their huge CP nursery!!!! It is size of football field!!! Last month, my friend just went there. Here is the photo… QUOTE(xecton) I got a VFT last time, but it didnt survive xecton, try it again!!!! They r not as hard as you think. Many nurseries will tell you, keep in shade. Because most of our CP is from YG Park, Cameroon Highland. For all VFT, actual way to grow them is, give them as much as light as you can. And make sure the media is always wet. Oh ya, for CPs, don’t fertilizer it. Don’t use garden soil. Fertilizing CP is only for those very confident and has extra plant to try. QUOTE(ReBeLLioN) i dun think easy to take care right??? ReBeLLioN, you are wrong… Most of them are easy, except for those rare or those need cooler temperature. For VFT, sarrasenia, and drosera, just give them a water tray. Give it alots of sunlight. That’s it… Don’t need fertilizer them. Top up water for the water tray, and do water change weekly to avoid mosquito larvae breed inside it. QUOTE(Serpentarius) how to jaga these plants? most importantly ... how to feed them? bit strange request though ... but i dun know how ppl take care of these type of plants Serpentarius, actually, didn’t feed them is not a problem. They still will do well in open garden without feeding. If yours place have a lots of insect, yours CP will growing great even without feeding them. For sure, if feed them, they will grow nicer and bigger and faster. But, don’t overfeed, ya!!!! And don’t simply feed them with anything. Sometime, it may kill the plant too. QUOTE(Zhunky) hey anyone know where to buy these plants in malaysia... just do some research on its habitat, it will be easy to keep it but anyone know where to buy ? or anyone owned it? Zhunky, there is 3 main source for thse type of PET. 1st some nursery, 2nd hobbyist and 3rd import from oversea. QUOTE(xtreme_paranoid) for seed..i found it at ebay.com long time ago Yea, you can easily get those seeds from oversea.QUOTE(jcmf @ Apr 1 2009, 02:10 AM) cool, nice thread appeard. caseyhoo, y dont u do some intro of the plants? jcmf, I will try my best to intro the plant 1 by 1. Hope my broken English explain what I try to say... wanted to get, but scared die... they are too nice to die in my hands due to my curiosity so dint get... hahaha This type of PETS is exotic and easy to take care... Sorry for reply in lousy English. Hope you all don’t mind. Im only can reply yours post at night... In here, working cannot simply simply serve net. But, I still can know what you posted in here from email... hehe... Then, I will write down the reply and reply alll together at once... Added on April 1, 2009, 6:19 am Added on April 1, 2009, 6:14 amVenus Fly Trap So far, the most attracted Carnivorous plant is VFT, right? Hehe…. Yea, it is most common know and most attractive CP. Inside their trap, there are 3 sensors at left and right of trap. Once 2 of them is touch, the trap will close. But, each leaf only can open and close for 3 ~4 times only. Once exceed, the leaf and trap will dried and turn black. So, don’t simply play play… hehe… VFT is 1 of most easy keep CP. Just make sure the media is always wet and expose it to strong light as you can. Don’t worry, you may get sunburn, but, they will not. In order to make sure the media is always wet, you can provide them a water tray by put yours VFT pot inside some container that have some water inside it. Water level is around 1/4 of yours VFT pot. There are many varieties of VFT. From green color, to melon color, yellowish green, pink color. Their teeth also have many forms, from normal teeth, to shark teeth, saw teeth, long teeth. Trap size and looks also have many forms. Each VFT will cost RM15 ~ RM200 as well… It is depends on their size and rarity. VFT may go for dormancy if sudden change of climate (seldom). If they r go for dormancy, leaf will be shorter and wider. Beside that, their trap also will close slowly if compare with those normal plant. We just need to put it at bright place and give them dryer media. Repot it after 2months… Some said, we need to put them on sleep and rest yearly… But, I didn’t do so…. So far, so good. Added on April 1, 2009, 6:20 amhuh... My new post will combine with existing post? This post has been edited by caseyhoo: Apr 2 2009, 06:04 AM |
