Casey, could you tell me whats the best substrate to use to keep them? I got my wild Nepenthes . sp(M) which I planted it on peat moss and it doesn't seem to do well with it. I keep it outdoors and water it daily. Any ideas?

QUOTE(caseyhoo @ Apr 15 2009, 11:36 PM) Im not really 100% sure which is the best. But, I didn’t hear that use peat moss to keep it. So far, media that normally use are sphagnum moss, or coconut chips. Some nepenthes even growing nice in burnt soil. I mean, I use sphagnum moss as substrate. It does produce pitchers.. but they will dry up and die in matter of days! The plant produce pitcher? Personally as a nep newbie, if my plant produce pitcher in each leaf, I will very happy liao… Did you fertilizing yours plant? Where you keep it? Most of nepenthes like 50% shade environment place. Some sp. is not a easy plant. I din't fertilize them and I hang it just outside my house. |
